I have known her from Secondary School days; she got married to my best friend; she was as gentle and sweet as she was brilliant. May she rest in perfect peace.

TELLING US ABOUT HER SCIENTIFIC EXPLOITS IS WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO HEAR IN A TRIBUTE TO THE WOMAN. THOSE BANDYING ON ABOUT HER ROLE AS A PRESENTER OF MATHS & SCIENCE QUIZ ARE NOT DOING HER MEMORY ANY FAVOURS AT ALL. FOR, I REALLY DO NOT SEE WHAT IS EXTRAORDINARY ABOUT A SCIENCE PROFESSOR POSING SCIENCE AND MATHS QUESTIONS TO 2ND CYCLE STUDENTS AT ALL.OR IS THAT EXTRAORDINARY BECAUSE SHE WAS A WOMAN?COME ON,PEOPLE.LET'S EULOGIZE HER FOR SUCH THINGS AS WHAT DR. BUSIA HAS TOLD US ABOUT HER, AND NOT FOR BEING A QUIZ-MASTER OF A 2ND CYCLE TV SHOW.SHE WAS A BRILLIANT SCIENTIST, AND THAT IS WHAT MATTERS.MAY SHE REST IN PERFECT PEACE.

I am indeed saddened by the death of Prof. Addy. I first met her in 1973 when both of us had joined the faculties of Howard University health sciences complex in Washington, DC. She had received her Ph.D. from Penn State University and I had earned mine from Michigan State University...two giant rivalry institutions. We used to joke about the rivalries in sports (especially American football) and research projects. She taught biochemistry at the College of Medicine while I directed faculty and student development at the College of Dentistry next door. She taught both medical and dental students who were required to take courses in biochemistry. She was indeed brilliant and very hard-working with heavy teaching loads semester after semester! She was very patient with the students who admired her knowledge and teaching skills in a very tough program. Many of the students kept telling me that they could not have survived their first two years without Prof. Addy's teaching and mentoring skills. She truly cared about her students. She made me proud as a fellow compatriot! I extend my condolences to her family. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE!

Oh death why? This is the very woman who made the study of science in Senoir High Schools enjoyable to both the male and female students. Her enthusiasm in moderating the Weekly Science and Mathematics Quizes at GTV on Saturdays energized students in second cycle schools to study hard so as not to disgrace themselves and their schools during such TV programmes. It was through her that got to know the best science and mathematics schools in the country. Students of Senior High Schools in Ghana and indeed those in the tertiary institutions whom she once quizzed on TV programmes will for ever remember PROF. MARIAN EWURAMA ADDY. MAY SHE REST IN PERFECT PEACE. In as the scriptures said the good works she did will surely follow her into eternity. You played your part in Ghana's educational development especially in SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS for posterity and Ghana will remember you for that, Prof. Da Yie Onyame mfa wo nko dwoodwoodwoo.

Oh, it really saddens my heart to hear of Prof. Awura Addys death. I recount a workshop on herbal medicine I attended at Sogakope in 2007 with her. It was that personal encounter with her then that made me admire and appreciate her friendliness and simplicity as Dr. Busia has said. She also responded promptly to mail I sent her with so much encouragement during a period of study. May the good Lord receive her soul.
