Since it was criminal for anyone to try to smuggle money into the country while the NDC had been accusing the Kuffour govt. of corruption esp. money laundering etc. Rawlings couldn't protest or claim ownership or losses in this case. He's been very bitter according to the rumour and that's what many believe may be the hidden motive and pain that Rawlings has had since then resulting in his numerous attacks on Kuffour.
