Yeah! Bro. Sammy Awuku, you've made a great point. Fortiz should open their "Susu" books for auditing. They've been used by the NDC as a cover-up to deceive Ghanaians in that dubious sale of Merchants Bank. Where is the account total of Pensioner's retirement invest that's been accrued since Merchants Bank started dealing with their monies? John Mahama and his NDC team think they're clever. They'll deny everything that'll be brought to public attention one-by-one. They ain't seen nothing yet!

.............It seems the NDC gov't is running against time to send Ghana into the pits and it is extremely worrying, very, very worrying that, such a magnitude of ineptness, incompetence, recklessness and corruption can be brought to bear on our governance structures in such a crass manner. This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

Ghanaians are quick to accept things at their face values. They do not delve into the backgounds to check for validity, fraud or suitability.
Kufuor appointed some shady deputy ambassadors to India who forged documents and cheated Ghana government of millions of dollars in rice deal. The Indian press honed in but relaxed with expectation that Ghana Government would tackle the issue since such crime, committed on their soil was perpetrated by diplomats. Investigation revealed that such deputy ambassadors involved were also British citizens.
Had Kufuor checked with due diligence Ghana would have been saved millions of dollars stolen from them by these thieves.
Unfortunately they roam about the country riding in the most expensive cars and living in luxury, seeking more prey. Where is the BNI ? Where is the law ? Where is leadership ? Rawlings is right ...absolutely right because it is rotten from President to President. None is working good for the country. They see things but turn heads aside. Kufuor, Mills, Mahama - all duka daya ! The same rotten leaders.

This rice issue went to court in Ghana after all the wild allegations. The rice arrived in Ghana only to be holed up in a warehouse by the NDC 2009. They charged the former MD of the NIB Mr. Gyimah for "causing financial loss" to the state. The truth came out in court and the guy was discharged on those charges. I guess you are referring to another rice " deal" by Kufuor's "deputy ambassadors" in India

Whatever the issues are at least let's show some sense of knowledge. The exhibition of ignorance is becoming too much. Fortiz is an investor just like many other shareholders in any bank or company and not a bank manager. The bank will appoint competent managers to do the work. In any case Mrs Selormey (nee Lokko) who is Chairman of the Fortiz Board is perhaps the first woman chartered accountant in Ghana with a distinguished career behind her. She was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana and recently Board Chair of the Audit Service. She knows much more about money than any of the riff-raffs shouting over the roof tops. Go to any Regimanuel Estates and see what Mr Botchway has achieved as a business man. let's by all means criticize the process if we think so but not the people. By the way where were all these people when Ghana Telecom was sold for 999 years to Vodafone in spite of a better offer from Telkom South Africa. What happened to the $5,000 each alleged to be received by NPP MPs then. The allegation came from an insider and it has not been denied.

After Appiah Ofori said he "heard about some $5000" who came out to confirm that accusation? It's just like Victoria Hammah "hearing" about Oye Lithur "going to see some of Supreme Court judges and all that" a day before the ruling on the election petition. Appiah Ofori was given the opportunity to substantiate his allegation. He mentioned hearing it from an NDC member, Doe Adjaho. Doe Adjaho also said he heard it. Victoria Hammah was given a platform to either deny or tell Ghanaians where she heard Oye Lithur went to see the judges. She ran away into hiding. The NDC handed GT and the Ghana Films to the Malaysians for peanuts. The NPP took GT back from the Malaysians and brought in Telenor of Norway. Kufuor resuscitated GT and sold it to Vodafone. He did not get his lawyer and NPP party members to form a "local" company like ForThieves to sell GT to. Where did the 7 month old Fortiz get the GHC90 million from to buy Merbank? How can we criticize the process and not the people involved? Who is making the process fraudulent? It is just like you saying we must condemn stealing and not those who are stealing? Nobody has questioned the competence of any of the managers or board members they purport to have appointed. What people are against is the way the bank was apparently doled out to Tony Lithur and other friends of Mahama and the NDC

What Awuku is alluding to is a Bank of Ghana Regulation that sets standards for entities to go into the banking business. You cannot just go and buy a bank to run - either by yourself or by hiring the best brains in the business. Remember the group Fortiz (For Thieves) was formed barely three months before they went into arrangements with SSNIT to takeover the 90% of the people's investment in Merbank. The source of founding is another question that needs to be answered. Mawuli Hedo is part of the First Bank that SSNIT has trusted moneys for pensioners as managers instead of returning that money to the contributing entities for investment on behalf of the SSNIT contributors as the law requires. The First Bank with Mauli Hedo as manager is sitting on these moneys. Now there is that allegation that it is the same money belonging to SSNIT contributors that the group Fortiz is using to buy the 90% shres of Merbank belong to the same SSNIT contributors. The liquid base of Fortiz at its inception seven months ago was said to be about GHC 5 million. Where did they get the GHC90 million from? Let i=us all know where they got the money from. Who are the owners of the First Bank? Why has the SSNIT left the people's money with the First bank without any interests accruing to the SSNIT contributors whilst the law requires that money to be returned into investment by the contributing entities? Fortiz will definitely not engage susu collectors to run the bank but surely the SSNIT contributors have been short changed with the 90% for GHC 90 million when an offer for 70% for GHC 220 million ($110 million for 70%) was rejected because the Rand Bank was eager to have Merbank collect 100% of all debts including Ibrahim Mahama's $38 million that his brother is now asking the "sold" Merchant Bank to collect

I always say NPP and their leaders behave like jokers. Do financial institution run susu before they become competent? Have Sam A wuku heared of susu in any financial terminology? What is wrong with these jokers. When NPP sold Ghana Telecom to Vodafon, we were made to believe that the land lines would be upgraded but now all are gone. If you have money you can open anything you want by just employing good managers. Most contractors are not Engineers but by their monies they employ experts to foresee all activities in their construction. Sam Awuku should grow up. SUSU collection is not a benchmark in banking sector.

No wonder crime is said to be officially recognized institution in Ghana.
