It's true that the pilot,if competent, should have checked the weather condition at the destination and even in between the flight zone and the destination.
He maybe assumed that by the time he gets to the destination, everything might have settled for a perfect landing.
But what he should have known is:
AT TIMES,THERE COULD BE A SMOOTH FLIGHT,BUT DEVOID OF SAFE LANDING.
THEY HAVE TO PAY THE PASSENGERS,THEIR MONEY.

What the NDC government need to do is to build one gargantuan airport in Ho and another one in Tamale to cater for people who care for the country. The Ashantis and Akyems and Akuapims and others don't deserve an airport. They don't wish Ghana well so they should await their turn after the patriotic Ghanaians have been served.
Left to Mahama and Atta Mills Kumasi would have been closed down so the teryfing Ashanti project doesn't see a conclusion. I believe strongly that the NDC God is the one causing the problems at that village airport.
WARNING: Mahama should make sure the Suhum part of the foolish and ill-conceived kumasi - ACCRA road never gets completed.

Kofi, please give a better advise. You are helper at Koury Aviation Training Academy in PTI. sound similar?. Training to be a small plane pilot is not a bigger especially now adays. you $99.00 and you are orientated to it and you go from there. If you hold $2K it can take you to the path of the prelims. suggest a better idea. Bad weather can errupt anytime but the pilot must and must comm with the towers at both end to accomplish his flight mission for the day to add to his experience. The pilot has done well to land at another location however it is not the fault of the passengers nor the pilot however, the airline has an insurance policy for such conditionstherefore, pay the hard working travelers.

Flight cancellations occur mainly because there is bad weather at the starting point and not at the final destination. There had been lots of instances in aviation history where planes cannot land at their destinations and had to divert course to nearby airports. It happens in the US and elsewhere. I hate it when peopoe pretend like these things happen only in Ghana. We can make suggestions for solving the problem such as building nearby airports at say Bekwai or Agona instead of trying to deride the beloved country.

You have not seen anything yet. If the the Ghana Meteorological Agency is not given its due share of proceeds from air navigation in line with International Protocols, don't be surprised that one day all Ghana-bound flights will land in Lagos, Abidjan or Lome so that passengers come into Ghana by road. The situation is getting bad everyday. The problem has to be solved else one day the Minister of Transport or even the 1st and 2nd Gentlemen of our land will face the same music. We need to act fast. Learn from Nigeria and other African countries who are breaking grounds in the Aviation Industry. Can Ghana become the gateway to West Africa under these conditions? Our Ministers, Parliamentarians, Political leaders MUST act now.
