I expected the committee to have gone behind the scenes to get phone records of Nana Oye Lithur and the Justices to see if they ever communicated but this wasn't done, l believe here too they didn't have the power to do so. so of what use was the committee, did the CJ just want to show on paper that she did respond to NPP's Scribe request. This was just a waste if the CJ knew that the committee can't bite.

The committees sitting on cases in Ghana have no members credited with any intelligence or wisdom. Actually, they are fools.

I for one knew the whole case was DOA because no one seems to care two hoots about how the country fares in terms of justice and everything along and within its trails. Otherwise, how could a Government Minister's open-secret talk about justice being baffled in a country like Ghana be trampled on?

I am not particularly interested in the trial of the case but allegations of this nature should NOT at all be wiped with the back of hand and left to the wind.

But on the face of it, the magnitude of this Vicky case could be likened to a grain of sand as compared to the gigantic accusations leveled against Akufo-Addo and thrown out of court.

Did the one who set up the committee understand the seriousness of the case?The police should have been the correct institution to investigate the matter and the judges should have been invited as well.
Its not too late for the IGP to do his work.
Another way to describe a weak institution is the institutions have weak leaders. I mean the IGP and the Chief Justice have failed Ghanaians. Is the CJ saying what she's done is the limit the law and her intelligence allows her or its a case of integrity. In the cases of the IGP, one word. Zombie. The Chief Justice goofed by not giving the committee the subpoena powers just as she goofed in making Atuguba as the President of the election petition hearing panel when he was in a clear conflict of interest to even be considered to be a member of the panel. There is something seriously wrong with Ghana's Judiciary system that can facilitate corruption and it starts with the Chief Justice herself. She should do her work without fear or favour to any political party, be it the NDC or NPP. This farce reminds me of the Committee headed by Justice Georgina Wood that investigated the MV Benjamin Cocaine scandal. Some of the witnesses at one point decided they weren't going to cooperate with the Commission again.

My question then was why she had agreed to head a committee that didn't have the power to force witnesses to appear before it. She ought to have known that that would make it impossible to arrive at the truth.

She was made CJ not long after that.

And now, she set up a Committee which lacked the same power.

Is this her specialty?

The Committee set up by the Chief Justice,Her Ladyship(am I right?),Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood, chaired by His Lordship Prof. Date-Baah,JSC(rtd), to probe the veracity of what has become known in Ghana as "Vikileakes",in my view,did a shoddy job.
My lawyer friends tell me that the committee did not have the power to subpoena anyone,including Victoria Hammah,the principal witness,to give evidence. The woman(I would not address her a lady), refused(not failed) to appear before the committee-it tells a lot.
To gather evidence through alternative means, the committee ought to have requested for the bank statements of all the nine Jugdes who sat on the petition. Movements on their bank accounts(for all bank accounts,Ghana Cedi,On-Shore and Off-Shore foreign currency denominated bank accounts) would have revealed or confirmed the veracity,or otherwise,of the influence of the Judges in the delivery of their judgement. Even a student learning Auditing for the first time could have done this to obtain incontrovertible evidence to support the charge or suspicion of judicial impropriety. Or is it a case of Judges building Walls of mutual protection around themselves?
My countrymen,fellow Ghanaians,don't you worry. The charge of the influence of the judges is a criminal one,and crime has no time bar. The issue will be revisited and delved into at some point in time. The current NDC administration will not remain in govermnt ad infinitum.All involved will be called to account for their deeds,or misdeeds,or both.
