WHY EUROPEANS/AMERICANS ARE PAYING MORE MONEY FOR ORGANIC FOOD IN THIS 21ST CENTURY.BECAUSE THEY IDENTIFIED THAT GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD IS NOT A SAFE FOOD FOR HUMAN BODY.

in our country the voice of reason can not be heard as the decision makers , stakeholders and politics are so polarized through tribalism and other mud slinging propaganda that the truth and common sense have become irrelevant . the ministry of agric is notorious for the the fact that the minister and chief director there are the most corrupt callous characters in the govt today. every nation that has achieved development has put in checks and balances that rectify mistakes or evil tendencies , our leaders first make sure these checks and balances are eliminated whether by declaring president for life or one party states like nkrumah did or by putting strange immunity or indemnity clauses in the constitution like rawlings did. if there is no accountability there can be responsibility and a vicious circle of corruption , disunity and open crimes are committed but none of this ruling oligarchy will ever be made to pay for their atrocities. our country and her citizens produce tens of billions but poverty is the daily lot of most of our citizens as the system of divide and rule has been perfected , our gold and other natural resources leave the country but no a single dollar comes back to benefit our people , our diaspora of over 10 to 15 million is not involved in development rather when they come they are financially raped by all from their own relatives with ridiculous demands for electronic gadgets and school fees to the state organized mafia institutions with tribally biased evil agendas . a nation not unified or focused on matters of national importance are doomed to failure . the quiet majority are being exploited and raped on a daily basis but due to the govt sponsored propaganda and lies are unable to see things clearly and act . yes we have a hopeless depressing future ahead due to our own laziness , non action and cowardice of thought. nobody is interested in investigating the truth for themselves or even questioning the most obvious crimes. jj has proclaimed k4 a corrupt individual yet after superpowers investigated they rewarded him by appointing him special envoy , jj will not go to jail for his false declaration rather in the madness and with his tribal hegemony chauvinistic support will be declared a hero and not for inciting hatred against another leader who will most likely end up in a pool of blood like mills .the tragedy is far from over as mahama and his lies only continue this trend , mr all talk and no action is busy taking us on another jolly ride to despair and hopelessness . the only solution is a cleansing war or revolution which will ensure that the country is divided up so we all get a fresh start , no point in fixing whats too broken to repair

Look at the huge size cattle roaming the place. Look at the rice and potato enriched in vitamin A. And so on. How have they all become so without some modifications? So why now?

Ghana is noted for the penchant to adopt all and everything foreign and in this particular case, it would be very appropriate, for Ghana to adopt a 60 to 80 year moratorium on GM foods, before it's introduction into soils of the country. Extensive research, data and personnel, should be tasked to engage in the process itself, ie the process of genetically modifying these foods. We need Ghanaian trained Food Geneticists who are authorities on the subject matter and have demonstrated very high ethical and professional standards in the field, to offer expect unadulterated opinion and advice on the short term as well as long term implications of these genetically modified foods and animal products, and especially with foods, our soil scientists at the Soil Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, should be resourced to undertake very long prospective studies on the effects of these products on the soil, fertilizer requirements, natural ecosystems of the soils, etc, etc.
Our Biological and Molecular Cell geneticists should be able to support the adoption of these foods and animal products, based on research conducted on the DNA structure and it's evolutionary effects on the human genome over a long term, and indeed, show that, it is actually healthy and beneficial to the survival of the human race especially Africans. There is a lot of scapegoating in terms of science and research and it's effects on the human race, where Africans have been at the wrong end of the spectrum in terms of it's beneficial effects, and this must not be allowed to happen. Again, we need much more extensive data backed research so as not to mortgage the very existence of the African race on interests who would virtually control our food supply by way of seeds and fertilizer components and inputs based on the creation of a seed bank. Currently, our scientists are doing extremely well and need to be encouraged and supported and well resourced to conduct the needed research on what is best for our country. That should be our focus. Our soils have been doing extremely well and all this talk of producing high yielding crops and abundant food needs to be carefully looked at. It is not for anything that, even the advanced economies have not adopted the GM products. Ghana should take a common cue.

There's also the Crops Research Institute of the CSIR and a host of other quasi scientific organizations who should lead in our quest for food sufficiency in seeking to address the issue of hunger. The answer is not GM foods, but a rather a conscious and concerted effort to address mechanized agriculture, irrigation and policies that promotes interest in food production as a means of poverty alleviation and addressing hunger. GM foods is not the way to go.

Nature is a closed system and there are natural laws to ensure this. Some of these systems is the water cycle and the food chain. The food chain involves plants and animals and all have their genes. All these genes belong to the natural system of creation or as some say evolution hence there is harmony as they move along the food chain. There is nothing like rejection of or reaction to any gene at any point along the chain.
Any new gene introduced into this harmonised closed system becomes a foreign body leading to a lot of consequences. This has been observed in organ transplant in humans. Though human beings belong to the same stock of mammals with similar genes tissue rejection occurs in organ transplant. How then will it be like if the organ involved has come from outside humans and nature?
The inference from this is that anything from outside entering the closed system of nature will lead to a reaction whether we like it or not. This is because it will interfere with the natural law which control that system.
GMO is an outside interferance with a closed system at the gene level through manipulation. Thereby introducing something foreign into the natural order. There is no way by which we should expect harmony in the food chain after such unprecedented invasion. There will be some stampede and chaos in the food chain and man will be affected in a way. The effect can be whatever but some say it is tumours and malformations, etc. Hence let us not deceive ourselves that we will be spared injuries for invading nature.
No one knows the agenda of those pressuring Ghana to take on GMO. But one thing is clear from history and it is that people or kingdoms invaded others in order to take their resources. This has taken various forms in this modern age. Hence human beings have not changed. The nature to dominate, dictate and control others is still there. What then shall we liken depending on someone all the time for seed for survival to? That is not how the world was made to be. There are animals, wind and rivers to spread seeds for us to get it free. The seeds were not meant to loose their vitality after each planting season.
Hence fellow Ghanaians let us be careful that we do not hang ourselves and buy poor health in addition.
