In other jurisdictions, the seat of gov't has it's own power source because of the sensitivity and the nature of it's work. When Prez.Kufuor's administration was confronted with the issue of inadequate power generation, it sought for funds for the Bui dam, and the rest, they say is history.
In comes the NDC gov't and when confronted with a much lessened challenge in view of the investment made in Bui, by the previous administration, what did they do? The started switching them off to the point that, even the central air conditioning unit at the Flagstaff house was shut down. Two scenarios, one sought a solution by increasing the capacity to meet the challenge, and the other switched them off, thinking that by so doing, the inadequacy in power generation would automatically vanish, and that in a nutshell, is a basic characteristic difference between the two administrations. In 2016, vote very wisely to save your sanity.

As for the Flag staff house, the presidency can afford to buy enough power for the facility lasting 1 year at one go, no matter how much it costs to do that. But the same can't apply to the MDAs. Disbursement of funds to the MDAs never come in time or are adequate to ensure that the right amount of power is bought at the right time. So on that note I think Hon. Hammond's call is in the right direction and I expect the president to rethink the directives

I thought I heard somebody say , what is good for the goose is also good for the gander .If you are poor and live in Accra , it means no money no electricity because it's prepaid .Not so with others because they are more important and putting them on prepaid meters will be dangerous and counter productive . What about those that use electricity as sources of power for their daily bread ? If prepaid meters are counter productive it should be for everybody in Ghana,not a set of rules for people in higher places and a set of rules for everybody else because that is only practised in the Animal Farm.Let's put everybody on prepaid and if it doesn't work , take everybody off it.

In my opinion this is the one of the best decisions ever taken by an african govt. When the people in authority are made to face the heat then they will reduce the pressure on the masses. This will call for a prudent management of scarce funds and will reduce waste of energy to very large extent. Prez. Mahama you're on the right track. God will be with you all along till success becomes a reality.
