ndc is trying to make us all foolishly believe that this is all about partisan politics but in reality its a feudal system of governance based on tribalism and ethnic affiliation . there is no partisan politics rather anti Akan movements , north/ south and east/ west divisions . it is the truth and everyone first asks what tribe does someone belong to before they even consider the substance of what was said . yes we have gone back not decades but centuries . personally i do not care who rules as long as they endeavor to do some good and secure sustainable development and jobs for our people irrespective of tribe , ethnic pedigree , religion or social status but that being said i know its impossible due to hegemony and chauvinistic religious tribalism not forgetting the opportunism of the satellite groups like the Gas and krobos. no matter how good the plan i remain pessimistic and realize everything will fail in this climate of greed , selfishness and no direction . ITS ALL ABOUT TRIBAL POLITICS SO WATCH YOUR BACK

You do not have what it takes nor the credibility to criticise and insult the president in this way. You better grow up and if you want to address issues, yes do so, but talk sense. Has the government not donated laptops to schools up and down the country? Who are "his favourites" that you refer to here? Why can't you be fair and objective? What do you gain by this silly approach?

Dr. Amuna, much as I share some of your response I think you must measure your comments. Prez Mahama is president today because of this kind of tribal politics. Do you remember when candidate Mills said in C/R in 2008 that Kufuor has collapsed all cold stores in C/R but has built more cold stores in A/R where there is no sea? Do you remember the popular slogan of the NDC "FATHER FOR ALL"?
Osei Tawiah doesn't have to be fair, because even the president himself is not fair. He dabbled in this dirty game both in 2008 and 2012.

Mahama is not aware of the pressing needs of our nation and people. Surrounded by seasoned crooks, the likes of P.V. Obeng and Co, all Mahama knows is how to engineer thievery of public funds especially through dubious contracts with foreign companies. The recent public outcry against his policies and scandals have only scared him of losing power so his priorities are now all manner of political gimmickry towards winning power again, by hook or crook, in 2016. For all he could care the whole of Ghana can become dilapidated. His concern now is starting his 2016 campaign. The same gangsters in his government who designed the sod-cutting gimmickry and airport tarmac jogging stunt for Mills are the very people arranging the free computers bought with public money at heaven knows how much to be distributed by him to selected schools in the North.
A responsible government would have assembled a crisis team of experts to come up with policies to rescue the economy, the infrastructure etc. Not so for Mahama. It's back to playing with the people's money!
You're damn right Nkrumah went full speed at full throttle with proper planning and all the right resources to build this country which has now been thoroughly looted by NDC and NPP. We must all resolve now to never allow these two political gangs to come anywhere near of our wealth.

"Presenting laptops to schools"? For the life of me, I simply cannot understand why the President should be the one doing this!!!
This is not presidential and if it is meant to show that he is working, this could well be achieved by others presenting these items on behalf of the government he leads rather than being done by himself. Even if this was a personal donation from the president to schools (which I believe it is not), he would have been better served by letting someone else do the donation.
For those who will have an issue with my arguments here, simply check around the world and see what serious, hard working and credible leaders do!!! They do not go about 'dishing out' items as if they are their personal gifts.
Why not let's take the focus off the president and focus on what the government is doing for the nation? That to me would be a better way of doing thins. The president should have focused on his government's educational policies and their actions, then left the scene and allowed the EDUCATION Ministry people to then demonstrate government commitment by donating the items!!!
Who is advising the President? They are doing a bad job and he must know that. This will easily be interpreted as 'politicking' and deflect from the government's good work. Let's do things better shall we?

Paul, again you are spot on. But you know what? It is because Ghanaians believe in mediocrity. It is a state of mind. Our ministers are clueless, appointments are based on who has shouted and insulted most for the party and not by competence or experience.
Why should the president be going round distributing laptops (probably with his picture on them as well) when we have a ministry of education with a minister and a deputy? Why should the president be cutting sods all over the place when there are ministers designated to look after those sectors carrying out those projects? Why does the president contineously come out to tell us he has directed this minister or that minister to to his or her job? This is plain madness and poor leadership to the max. Micro managing at this level is an indication that those appointed are not proactive and capable of thinking outside the box.
lastly, this is a vote buying move by the NDC. We are 3 years away from the next election and the president has already started making comments about Ghanaians renewing his mandate in 2016. In 2013!!! already talking about re election in 2016??
This means from now to 2016, most decisions taken would be short term decisions to win votes. The people advising the president are just as clueless. We have a long way to go with this level of mentality. It is not by chance that we are under developed and keep taking one step forward 3 steps backwards.

Akua,
While your frustration with current government policy (and the identical situation with the previous NPP administration) is understandable, you cannot resort to this generalization of popular culpability and a fatalistic mindset ("We shall forever remain slaves...").
The people of Ghana never went on their knees to beg for military dictatorships. And they never voted for ruling parties to come and loot the state coffers. To make pronouncements to this effect is to victimize the people a second time!
What has happened is deception. Political parties that cleverly deceived the people with lies and gifts during the campaign period, and backtracked and engaged in self-enrichment after winning power. We cannot even be sure that our elections - at the very least, the last one - were conducted fairly and honestly.
What needs to be done is for truly patriotic and well-reasoning people like yourself to resolve not to repeat past electoral errors! Broaden your horizon, maximize your options! Let history guide you, and analyze objectively which political force in our history worked selflessly for the well-being of the people, created jobs, schools, hospitals, launched free education at all levels and formed a government truly of all the people. Think and act with confidence and resolve to eliminate once and for all from the corridors of power the looting politicians and parties that we have set Ghana back since 1991.
You are not powerless! You can reverse the situation by voting for that one selfless party, CPP. Join us to take back our country and its wealth and use it for the people. Let Mahama become the clueless clown and thieving gangster that he is but out of reach of governance where he can dip his hand into treasury and do as he wishes. CPP will assemble the many experts we have and plan properly how to use the people's money - just as it did after independence - to create work and happiness for a beautiful Ghana! STOP GIVING UP, YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS!
