These thiefs must be charged and put into prison to set an example to NPP and other political parties in Ghana. Unless these happen, no one will believe the 10 per cent hike. At the end it is the same NDC government who is going to manage the money and steal it again for their pocket money.

The money must be donated to an independant foundation which can monitored and evaluated for their deeds for women and children.

Why did he not mention this in the budget, or find a way to adjust this problem come 2014. He could also reduce the number of ministers, districts and constituencies if he is really serious. We have now been told that salaries and wages eat 53% instead of 75%. The Government should as from now stop making the single spine as an excuse for its abysmal performance and pay Ghanaian workers their due arrears.

If Korle-Bu can have 20% ghost workers, imagine how many ghost workers are there amongst the 700,000 government workers. If there are only 15% ghost workers in the 700,000 workers, that is 105,000 people we are paying that we shouldn't pay and eliminating that loophole alone can save government 1.5 billion cedis or $750 million.

Next government need to reduce the number of workers because we know there are excess workers roaming about doing nothing. There is no need to have over 600 people working at the Presidency including this stupid Apaak doing only propaganda and pompom waving duties.

The tax base should be expanded. The word is expanded not increase so that the over 70% of people and entities supposed to pay taxes who are not paying can be brought in to increase government revenue.

The government has not done us any favors with the gimmick 10% pay cut when it increased their pay over 100% just a year ago.

If an armed robber robs you of $100 and decides to give you back $10, it has not done you any favor as these thieves masquerading as politicians have done.

But since I know Clement personally and see him as a friend, I guess my chipping in to say that I am also not impressed by the President's action and find his oozing about it as something phenomenal a bit too slimy to swallow.

Yes, Pres. Mahama is largely to blame for sanctioning all those big increases for the MPs and the Executive, actions which have contributed in no small measure to others also demanding their pound of flesh and the spate of labour disputes we have now. Had he exercised restraint, started cutting out some of the ridiculous colonial allowances which are being worked into the single spine scales, e.g., cost of 3 servants, free petrol, book and research allowances for lecturers, etc. being monetised, we wouldn't be facing the huge salary bill we have now.

As for the ghost workers, people up to the topmost of every state organisation are chopping from it. When my father in charge of the accounts of one state organ was causing too much trouble with his stringent refusal to sanction their stealing was moved to be chief of personnel, he said he discovered why the salary bill was always big and increasing and he never even saw some of the workers before. Well, he began an exercise to ferret out the persons behind the names or no pay for you, and was promptly moved back to the accounts dept! That was in the 1970s.

I can assure you all that "thieves and thiefettes" have been running Ghana since independence. Do you really think they'd stop what has become a habit for them? After all, Mahama is also a product of that rot. You guys shld check the commissions of inquiries the NLC set up after the overthrow of the CPP.

What is most annoying is how they could possibly think that well-meaning and thinking Ghanaians would fall for this insignificant gimmick.

What is GHC80,000 a month which amounts to less than a million Ghana Cedis per annum? NDC sharks like Agambire, Woyome and many others are making GHC200 million, GHC50 million and as much as €120 million and more for not even raising a finger.

It's extremely sardonic that instead of the Mahama/Amissah Arthur administration seeking to adopt the best practices and the mental resourcefulness to grow the economy whilst tackling the over-burdensome canker of unbridled and outrageously stupendous corruption, the classic act of the NDC administration steeped in propaganda, unintelligence, populism, excessive mediocrity and crass ineptness, has been once again employed to hoodwink the masses whilst courting public empathy, in the face of their humongous and crass mismanagement, gross indiscipline, thievery, corruption, lack of vision, lack of leadership, lack of effective and effectual leadership, all of which have culminated in the very situation in which they have had to resort to a pay cut.
Dr. Kunbour was not wrong when he said that, the very processes of thinking under this NDC administration had been relegated to the background. The question is, how did Ghana get to this point in our socio-economic development? What went wrong?

Prez Mahama's pay hits Gh¢ 12,000; Twice what Mills earned

It has emerged that Parliament has authorized an astronomical increase in salaries for the President of the Republic, Vice President and other senior members of government.

Reports say members of the National Assembly on Wednesday, voted to raise the emoluments of the aforementioned persons.

Consequently, the President is expected to romp home with a monthly pay of Gh¢12, 000 with the Vice President receiving almost Gh¢10,500.

Ministers of State and their deputies are to earn between Gh¢ 8,000 and Gh¢9000, officials have said.

However it is roundly believed that the new pay for President Mahama is thought to be nearly twice what the late President John Mills earned.

It would be recalled that Members of Parliament recently got a pay rise on the orders of the President, with each lawmaker expected to earn a monthly pay of Gh¢ 7,200- a move which attracted widespread criticisms from civil society groups and some political watchers.

When a deputy minister of state declares that she's aiming to retire with at least US $1 million, everyone knows that the John Mahama and his NDC govt. is just fooling people.
