The fight against corruption, abuse of power and impunity must be proactive and not reactive. We do not need to wait to be charged with poor leadership in fighting it before reacting in seeking to show leadership where we had all the opportunity but failed to be proactive.

Good leaders act; they do not wait to react to situations. Ghanaians will have difficulty electing another President from the geo-political north which the President and myself come from for more than thirty years after he has left office should this President fail to fight corruption, abuse of office and impunity in obedience to our ancestors and God during his tenure of office. Mark my words!

how much bribes his own Ministers,
his Government officials, his MPs,
Regional Ministers and Government appointee plus he Mahama himself have
enjoyed since he assumed his political
carrer, Vice President and President
and deal swiftly with them and himself
no other person, either in opposition
or any where will complain but if he Mahama leaves his own corrupt Ministers and begin to torment the life of innocent politicians, it is
there the trouble will start.

Arthur Kennedy should equally know this. Every chief in our country who
have benefited from corrupt Mahama's
administration must be brought to justice, money distributed to voters
to buy their conscience by NDC politicians and Mahama himself should be exposed, University girls who were
bribed with cars, Hyundai must be retrieved and those benefited be made
to face the law including those who
gave out those bribes including cars and Laptops etc.

Mahama must be made to suffer for offering Ministerial positions in return for sex from the women Deputy
Ministers, such as Victoria Hamah and
Rachel Apoh to mention a few.

Arthur Kennedy should advise Mahama to
start his action from his own back yard, the NDC Ministers etc if he want
his action to succeed and face less criticisms.

Nobody in this country has treated any Akan badly as you want us to believe.We are in one country where the same law is applied to everyone irrespective of one's tribe or dialect.It is high time those who see their tribe or ethnic group as superior to the others stopped that mentality. After all, nobody was born with a language. We acquire the various languages we speak today from the kind of environment we were born into.

I applaud Arthur K for such a bold statement. By all means we should be critical of the president and his government and scrutinise their performance but criticism has to be measured, fair, appropriate and warranted.
Equally, we should be supportive of he and his government when they make the right call, take the right actions and seek to do things to improve our system. Afterall we all say we want to see the nation progress and we often bemoan the appalling nature of our economy, the widening gap between the haves and have-nots and above all corruption.

So, why should we not work with the president to tackle the issues? In my view, politicians who do that do themselves a great service and the electorate will always remember those who genuinely contributed to our nation's progress. Condemning without offering useful alternatives; and mockery of the president and his government without offering credible, sensible and feasible alternatives is not only counter-productive but in fact belittles those who use such approaches.

Cheap soundbites just to grab news headlines and cheap insults lacking in substance makes a fool of those who act as such. Lately there has been just too much of that in our politics and that is unfortunate.

I think we should heed Arthur K's call for it is a reasonable one and for me, it makes him stand tall among politicians and I genuinely hope it will stand him in good stead among the electorate (if not his party members).

The problems that we face today were deliberately caused by Prez Mahama and his NDC when they engaged in serious vote buying during the elections. This is a fact unless you want to play the ostrich.

How then do you call on the people to be supportive of a leader who is in fact corrupt and has shown to be protective of the corrupt individuals in his govt?

Please let us not do this to ourselves because Ghana is bleeding too much. We all saw the attitude of Mills and Mahama when they were seeking power from then NPP.They promised to deal with any allegation of corruption, even in the newspaper, that they will never ask for evidence. Today, in the face of all the evidence and even when the Supreme Court has ruled in favour of Ghana in the Waterville saga, the govt is dragging their feet. If this is not a classical example of "create, loot and share", then maybe you patriotic guys can tell me otherwise.

There is so much poverty in the country. If you doubt, come to Kejetia and see how kayayes are suffering, with no decent place to lay their heads. When a fraction of the monies stolen could help alleviate their pain, these greedy bastards are worsening our plight by increasing tariffs on all manner of things.

It is time to get serious as a country. Trying to beat about the bush will not help us except to name and shame, and hit hard on our corrupt leaders.

Vote buying is part of our problem and it pervades our society and is NOT the preserve of any one party. If you want us to tackle it, by all means say so, but to seek to ite it to one party is dishonest and frankly, it is you who seems to be burying your head in mud. Why don't we proceed by growing up for starters and being mature about our debate and discussion about how to address our problems without your cynical and hytpocritical approach.

Finally I would advice you to avoid misusing words like "hypocrisy" when you have not examined the impoirt and balance of other people's arguments.

For example, in the Woyome gov't orchestrated heist of the national kitty, it is on record that, the legal representative of one of the companies involved in the loot, is currently the Attorney General of the country. The said Attorney General is also the partner of President Mahama's legal representative, in the just ended election petition challenging his validity, whose verdict, still leaves a lingering cloud about the justness of the very case that was brought before the Supreme court.
Again, on this same Woyome gov't orchestrated criminal loot of the national kitty, one of the principal architects ie Ebo Barton Odro, who was very instrumental in the processes leading to the siphoning of the cash, is currently the first deputy speaker of parliament, and it may interest Ghanaians to know that, a committee set up in parliament to draw up a working document to actually address such gov't sponsored and gov't orchestrated looting, has Ebo Barton Odro, on this same committee, tasked with drafting a document to prevent such nation wrecking activities. If this is not a clear case of conflict of interest, a clear case of double standards, a clear case of attempts to effectively, make nonsense of the needed pragmatic and good intentioned steps to actually have the backbone to stamp out officially sanctioned corruption, looting and plundering of the national kitty from the very seat of gov't-The Flagstaff House, then I don't know what it is. What even gets the goat of the majority of the citizenry, is the clear insult heaped on the intelligence of the masses by such charade by the recklessly corrupt and inept administration to hoodwink the generality of the populace that, indeed, this present NDC administration headed by John Mahama/Amissah Arthur, have the very consciousness to address the galloping gov't sponsored corruption riddled acts on the national kitty. The Vice President was the Exchequer of the Central bank when the fraudulent claims came through for the plundering of the national kitty. Is this therefore a gov't that has the interest of getting to the bottom of the nitty gritty of the issues of corruption that has been visited on the conscience of the masses, leaving a searing scar on same? From where most a Ghanaian sit, this Mahama/Amissah Arthur NDC administration does not have the compulsion to address the issues of corruption and never will. Ghanaians need to wake up to this realization and take steps to vote this recklessly corrupt team out of power in 2016, so the nation can move forward.

Opposition politicians would have every cause to accuse the president of partisanship if the president is the one acting against corrupt public officials.

The reason why national agencies are unable to discharge their constitutional mandates is due to interference by the Executive and politicians in general.

The President is only being held responsible because no clear policy exists to fight corruption. Policies are needed both to prevent corruption and to punish the act of corruption. We always focus exclusively on punishing after the ‘horse has bolted from the stable’.

The President is taking the heat because those who lead the institutions created to fight corruption are not independent and always act on the say so of the Executive.

If the manner through which we appoint people to head the Police, CHRAJ, EOCO and the BNI is independent of the President, he would not be the one making the statement he made on Friday. For so long as those bodies are not independent of government, political meanings will always be read into presidential actions to ‘crack the whip’. There will always be the perception of lack of objectivity and fairness.

What we need from the President therefore are policies to make corruption in public office a hazardous enterprise. That is not the only action. We should have laws to prevent corruption in the first place. Corruption usually stems from ignorance of the public. So the workings of government should be more transparent with the public adequately informed about the type of services provided and the processes for transacting business with government agencies so that citizens do not have to use middle men. The fees charged for accessing such services should be well publicised and target waiting periods should be specified.

In addition, if the President is serious he should set up an Office of the Special prosecutor with Martin Amidu as the head to deal with current issues. He should have a limited mandate – to investigate and prosecute (where evidence is found) all allegations of corruption involving past and present government officials that are currently in the public domain. This outfit should be given the power to ask for documents from any government department or law enforcement and security agencies. It should be free to ask for secondment of officials from the Attorney General’s Department, the Police, EOCO and the BNI. It should also be free to go into the private sector to hire good prosecutors. The only addiotional thing the President needs to do is to pass over all reports he has received on the GYEEDAs, SUBAHs, SADAs, WOYOMEs, ISOFOTONs, etc. Afterwards, he and his ministers should assume the back seat for justice to take its course.

If President Mahama is able to do this, a big weight would be lifted off his shoulders. But will he? I doubt. If he behaves like a lone ranger who must sort out all the bad guys, surely cries of partisanship will echo across the land loud and clear!

By the way none of the ‘policies’ he is expecting Parliament to pass will do anyting much in any fight against corruption.

We see our country embarrassingly going down every day with corruption as if crime and corruption is an officially recognized institution in our country and yet a leading member of the deprived and bruised opposition party whose duty is to fight the arrogance and the discredited government to do the right thing to elevate the suffering of our people from the untold social economic hardships coming out to spew such unthinkable and despicably disheartening nonsense shows it's about time we begin to ask ourselves of the loyalty of such unscrupulously double face people we think are with us fighting on our behalf and behalf of the poor and deprived people.
