  Do you know that European and North American farmers receive gov't subsidies, thereby making it easier for them to sell their products cheaper elsewhere? Do you also know that in spite of WTO rules, all the developed countries use tariff and non-tariff means to protect their industries?
  
  Of course, Ghanaian farmers and all other producers for that matter, need to modernise their productionand improve the quality of their products etc. They also need GoG support in all areas, including strategic protection of the country's market.
  No country has developed without first protecting domestic industries.
  
  Protectionism is alive and well everywhere.
