To add insult to injury, he is telling us that, like a car, he is only in the first gear in a four-year term, so we can expect to see a fourth gear only in the fourth year. To hear that allegory from a guy and a president who had been a vice-president for the previous four years, and claims that because of the ill-health of Atta Mess, he John Mahama was really the one in charge behind the scenes, then we have reasons to conclude nothing good or extraordinary can be expected that is different from what we have seen from the last four years. The value is going to be the same, and corruption is going to consume all of us under Mahama. Our people tell us, 'Edwa beso'a efiri anopa', to wit, one can gauge the prospects of a good market day from the signs the morning activities project. Right now the country is sinking fast from all reliable indicators. In the last four years, the cedi has depreciated a whole 100 percent under Mahama and Atta Mess. What other assurances are we waiting for? To be hit on the head with bricks?

I haven't as yet listened to the tape so I cannot definitely say whether any intention to commit acts of corruption is behind her unguarded comment. But whatever her intention, it was simply childish of her to make such a statement to others and, in particular, in front of her driver, even if a cousin.

I strenuously defended Vicky when she broke protocol about that speech wahala. But this time around, her motor mouth had really run on all the 12 cylinders! I am really embarrassed.

I might try the new UK Lotto this weekend and when lucky to win some millions, I might consider making her an offer.:-)

That said corruption has become an institution so to say the "new normal" in our Ghanaian society such that even the Ghanaian stray dog is also corrupt. From religion to politics, we have basically corrupted everything we lay hands on. You can put a a Ghanaian dog in any of the ministries the result is the same. We will have to nurse a new generation to fight this cancerous corruption.

My emphasis on ONLY here just determines the height and singularity of the case, in case you miss it. If you are still in doubt about the reach of what she was driving at, I would say, she means she would stop even after one, two or three years if she makes a million bucks and that's the crux of the matter.

With Ghana's economic status quo you may stay in government for 20 and may never be able to decently make 500,000 if you're really truthful, honest and loyal, taking into consideration the nature of expenses we all make including tax obligations.

Let us not confuse issues here:
1. What was taped was inappropriate, wrong, poor judgmenbt on the part of the minister and qukite frankly wrong on her part and rightly she has lost her job as a minister. I very much doubt is she will have another chance to serve in high office of this kind after the president personally came out to offer her support when she was last in trouble. Clearly she has a character and an attitude which is now being exposed.

2. Recording someone's conversation without proper and due authority is wrong, an act of indiscipline and in most cases regarded a criminal offence. However if this in done in the 'interests of the state' e.g. where national secutiry is at stake, then wrong as it may be, it can also be helpful.

Victoria Hammah's utterances had no national security threat associated with them, but were quite inappropirate and foolish of her. She is paying the price and righgtly so, as far as her public office function is concerned.

Whatever happens in the Hamma family compund is a matter for them which frankly many of us simply DO NOT WANT TO KNOW. Laud Hammer and his family should sort themselves out and leave the rest of us in peace! Perhaps he would care to advice his sister on how to behave in private and public life!!

Why did Mahama entrust ministries to them? The seasoned professionals at these ministries will run circles around them and run stuff behind these inexperienced ministers. Victoria is basically being let go for not being able to conduct herself properly. Having an ambition to make a $1M in one's chosen profession by itself is not a crime....every doctor, engineer or lawyer in ghana in his or her late twenty's would like to make a $1M dollars before retiring...so why not a politician?

But Victoria made disparaging comments about another minister in public...Obviously she was not smart enough to know not to trust the driver....So if she has that poor of a personal judgement why should Mahama continue to trust her with such a sensitive position as a minister...she may even embarrass Ghana on an overseas trip....She does not know how to conduct herself because of immaturity and inexperience...

She brought attention to herself by that Facebook rantings saying people are pressuring her to steal and not long after that a very public embarrassment by thinking loud about her missing prepared text. If she had at least 5 years of corporate experience, ghana and the government would have been spared of this embarrassment...All government ministers, need at least 5 years work experience to be entrusted with whole ministries...beauty and youth are not necessarily hallmarks of competence..

But Victoria made disparaging comments about another minister in public...Obviously she was not smart enough to know not to trust the driver....So if she has that poor of a personal judgement why should Mahama continue to trust her with such a sensitive position as a minister...she may even embarrass Ghana on an overseas trip....She does not know how to conduct herself because of immaturity and inexperience...

She brought attention to herself by that Facebook rantings saying people are pressuring her to steal and not long after that a very public embarrassment by thinking loud about her missing prepared text. If she had at least 5 years of corporate experience, ghana and the government would have been spared of this embarrassment...All government ministers, need at least 5 years work experience to be entrusted with whole ministries...beauty and youth are not necessarily hallmarks of competence..

She has a rent - free bungalow and utility free services to the bungalow. He/she travels outside Ghana on a per diem of minimum $50 per day.

So if a minister can save about $3600 plus per month from all above. This will require 24 years of hard and uninterrupted service to the nation. Well, they are young and perhaps could stay in politics all that long to acquire the #1 million dollars. No theft involved. Victoria Hammah must be given the benefit of the doubt!!!

She can steal money only if she is put in charge of tender at the Ministry of Information, apart from that how can she have access to cash.
The matter here is that no citizen has the right to record the conversation of another citizen and cause it to be broadcast.

Well, it not the making of US $1 million that's the case, but the involvement of Mrs. Oye Luthur in the Supreme Court's verdict that's the most serious of all. Indeed if the news we're hearing is true then, Justice Atuguba, as I've always maintained, should quit the Supreme Court bench heading for prosecution. It's the biggest crime in the country in such a case before the Supreme Court. Ghanaians must remember that no-one is above the law!

There should be a retrial of the case, since many Ghanaians, including Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey disagree with the verdict read on August 29. The whole world is keenly following every single even as they unfold in Ghana, with our new dignified status as a true democracy. It's a big challenge and the case must not be swept under the carpet. This is one big case in our lifetime. Let true justice take it's course.

Ghanaian have by now begun to appreciate how the Lord works in miracles. The untold hardship and misery that Ghanaians are going through is as direct result of election fraud. Most of the Supreme Court justices must be scratching their heads, knowing that they've let the nation down. They must bow in shame. Can a country survive with such "noble persons" in control of the "Third Arm" of government? Never!
