Ghana's economic prosperity depends on our ability to transform our most readily accessible resources - Human and Natural- into valuable assets. this will require that we totally and completely dismantle the economy that we have kept from our Gold Coast and Slave Coast days. That economy was structured around services and legislations that enabled the European to extract the best resources from Africa/Ghana paying pennies for it and denied us the opportunity to add value and transform them into valuable assets. During the time the Agents and collaborators in this economy were "wealthy" flaunting their Muskets (Range Rovers/Benzes), Schnapps (champagne) and mirrors (Samsung smartfone)as they sold off their fellow humans and all the gold they could find. Travel today to any of the great centers of this trade era Axim, Elmina, CapeCoast, Kumasi, Keta, obuasi etc and all that exists there is poverty in all its forms. these great centers of colonial gold and slave trading today are centers of malnutrition, poverty, filth, disease, child and infant mortality and poor education. none of these centers can match the great economic centers of Britain, France, AMerica, Holland, Denmark, Spain, Portugal (admittedly these last two are suffering from the loss of their colonies more than others)that were created during this era. they created value with those resources - we just sold them for mirrors?
This same outcome will repeat itself in Ghana in a hundred years as long as we maintain this economy that makes it easy for foreigners to extract our most economically viable resources and take it away for pennies.

Articles like this certainly are not read by many. And so there are no insults. Because it is not about this political party or the other or personalities. The truth about the economy is that we are not ready as a country to go through the mill: manufacturing is such a difficult economics and calls for brains unlike service. Have you bother to counter the number of loans and saving companies that have sprang up in the last one or so years? That tells you people are looking for cheap business.
It is unfortunate, as long as we are not prepared to think we have lost it: am sorry!
