  Once they donate that money, it does not belong to them anymore. It belongs to the church and if the church decides to use it as donations in kind or whatever to the congregation, then it is the churches act of kindness not that of the people.

  today our country has the notorious reputation of being one of the most corrupt in the world thanks to pepeni and his band of thieves . we told everyone we knew he had no plan or program to develop the nation except pillage the little monies left and yet today the claim that they could not perform because of a petition . look at their ministers who anything more than 3 pages is a challenge to read talk less of projects whose summaries alone can be over 5000 pages , they are so lazy and selfish that nothing good can come from them . their chief ideologist of evil avenoor was killed and i had planned to go to his grave and urinate and relieve myself on him once every month but he cremated himself i guess i will do so instead on rawlings grave soon. workers are on strike because they know this azaa govt has no clue and in this day and age considering the wealth of the nation no one should work for less than 1000 cedis or 500$ but if free education was such a challenge how can they ever fathom such a reality . they are hopeless so we are preparing for our revolution and telling all righteous to sharpen their knives and bury their guns to wait for for the clarion call. they think they have fooled the Akans especially the fantis , a third of their votes came from the fantis but there is not a single substantiate minister who is a true fanti . they wage war against us Akans but when we come our and call foul they say we are liars . we are ready now so let them bring it on . long live the republic of Akan

  Now just look at your pathetic self. Even when challenged, you will not reveal your mythical charity but you choose to sit back and resort to judge and to viciously run down (Pull Him Down - PhD)those who are publicly seen to be doing well by educating thousands of Ghanaians to become professionals in various fields of endeavor.
  
  Some of those who have been educated in Otabils university will obviously in addition rise beyond that station to also build hospitals (to make you happy and possibly to treat you and your children when you are taken ill), schools and universities, businesses or some may even become public administrators and politicians - hopefully better ones than what we have now.
  
  When it is quoted that God created Man in His own image (Genesis 1:27), the understanding of that statement should not be belittled or restricted to mean that God created Man to physically look like Him only. I believe that having created man in His own image rather pertains to giving Man the ability to also create and do many wonderful things to benefit the world and the people in it. Many people including Otabil are doing just that and we must recognize their feats no matter what earthly grudges we bear against them.
  
  If you, Osei Tawiah, think that God Almighty knows that you are giving all of your little, which is fine by me, why dont you leave it to God to also judge whatever Otabil is also doing? Why do you think that only God has the right to judge you but you, an ordinary mortal, have the right to judge others? Does that sound right to you? Or perhaps are you the 'chosen Son of God'?

That is called Robin Hood gesture. Please, I am not judging the pastor as God but based on these alone, this is not called Charity.   Now I am not sure if even any kindergarten can financially function as a charity - much more a university. So if Central University is charging what you refer to as exorbitant fees, you should begin to understand why.
  
  I also dont know what you mean by Robin Hood gesture. A charity is a charity. Period! It would be hypocritical to pretend that some charitable donations are different from others. 99% of all so-called charitable organizations in the world are funded by dirty money from exploitative capitalist companies or money laundering entities around the world.

Even the government knows how much they are duping the nation and still protesting taxes. Those pastors know that this is another avenue where they can rip off Ghanaians to make themselves more rich. Sorry, this is no charity work, though it is partly good for the development of the nation. They are just capitalizing on our government failures to enrich themselves.   Osei Tawiah, I myself am not worried about whether Otabil is pursuing a charitable venture or not. What I am happy about is that in the painfully under-developed situation we are in as a country, one of our own has managed to some extents to plug the yawning gap between poverty and success.
  
  He Otabil, has created an avenue - an educational facility where many thousands of Ghanaians can have and have had the opportunity to escape the excruciating poverty of under-development and go on from there to use their acquired knowledge to also improve upon the society in which we all live. How much students pay for this service is not my business nor yours either. I have never established a kindergarten before so I dont know how much it would require to manage a university and therefore how much students should pay.
  
  I do not know why you keep on wondering why these churches dont build hospitals. You make it sound as if if they did build hospitals patients would not be charged for consultation. I do not know why these churches dont build hospitals but I know for a fact that hospitals are not as easy or as inexpensive to manage as lets say a university.
  
  I am not a church-goer so I dont really care whether Otabil is a Pastor or not. However, if Otabils church and not the man himself is making good money from that university enterprise, so be it and good for all of them. This is premised on my understanding that the Central University, I believe, is not a charity but a business enterprise affiliated to the church.
  
  Every living human being or entity makes the most (spiritually, materially, financially) out of any enterprise that they engage in. Even employees bargain for as much as they can get out of their employers in exchange for their labour. The bottom line is that nobody - no matter how religiously ascetic or celibate should be allowed to live a life of self-denial and abject poverty.
  
  The world has evolved from when religious institutions and religious people were expected to be austere. For whatever reason they dont seem to think that that posture is helpful in their ministry anymore.
  
  I think that every human being 'deserves' to live a full life of reasonable comfort and happiness. I say this in spite of the visible fact that many Pastors exploit the vulnerability of their congregations to live opulent lives without giving anything tangible back to society and the world.
  
  From where I stand, I do not think that Otabil falls within that category.

I have said, our leaders had one tenth of the wisdom that Otabil has, Ghana would be on development path. Unfortunately, we have been blessed with wicked and clueless leaders.
  
  Kofi, we use "Robin Hood" tale when someone STEALS from the RICH and gives it to the POOR. From our accusation, I thought all church members are broke because of our greedy pastors, isn't that what we keep on saying? So the question is, where did he steal from the rich? He told everyone about the what he intended to do and those who believed that they needed to help gave out of their heart and yet, we are here criticizing the man, just because we don't like him. Would we blame everyone who raises funds for the needy, poor and abandoned in our society? And will you call their funding raising Robin Hood gesture?

  Good thing but done in a bad way. It is a disrespect to Sacred thing of God that everybody should dip had in the offering basket to take money. The offering basket is dedicate to God. One, it is good to cater for the poor as he Pastor Otabil wants to do.But remember Jesus says the poor will always be there. So the church should have an organized way of meeting the need of the poor e,g. a Welfare Committee in the church. What we should note is the poor should not be helped and the pulpit be used to preached about why the can't pay utilities. Are there not be people who cannot pay utilities in the church from time immemorial.Don't help the poor and trumpet it. May be the reporter also did not report the correct thing. But God help us if that is true.

One fact people should know is that it is sacrifices of these same members of the congregation that have made these one man churches so filthy rich and so a gesture like this is not a too big deal. They have been sacrificing for far too long and it's time to be given. Pastor Otabil, is it coming on weekly, bi-weekly,monthly or annually? God bless, Amen

  After demonizing him for alerting Christians to fast and pray so no evil would befall Ghana, during the election petition case, the NDC "apparatchiks" still don't appreciate what Pastor Mensah Otabil has done. The man of God is following Biblical principles which demands all believers of Christ to do good to people on earth; "to be each brother's keeper" as was said by Christ himself. No wonder NDC scouts and leaders like Tony Aidoo would say Christians are out of their senses, for reasons best known to him alone! This is not Pastor Otabil's only good gesture; he's built shelter for the needy and provided scholarships to the as well. The "Sasabonsam" party can't seem to appreciate anything good in the country, except to subject Ghanaians to torture, poverty and misery etc. What a shame!

  I am not a member of this church think that was a great move.This long over due.It is about time these Pastors instead of making themselves rich and their congregations poorer they should quit being greedy and start to give back by helping them to rather become richer and not poorer.It is sad to see these Pastors with all kinds of titles Dr,Minister,Prophet,Bishop etc.ride in all kinds of cars at the expense of their folks while their folks go hungry everyday but they donot care.Just think through this and be the judge.

Monies one pay in church is for the church use , God will not come from heaven and pure money on the alter , he blesses the handwork of members of the church and they in return bless the church with part of their blessings. If you are an unbeliever does not mean you should come on here and rain insults on the man of God for what you know nothing about . Be civilised and grow .... Give your lives to Christ before its too late !
