Perception or no perception the behaviour of the party shifts the power of truth in the perception towards the perception that NPP is an Akan Party. Ayikoi-Otoo cited the failure of the party to support the vice to ex-president John Kufuor to becoming the next leader of the party as an example. Why would a vice president be overlooked for another to becoming the flag bearer? Is it because he's not an Akan? Secondly some utterances of NPP members towards non-Akans especially from the North calling them names and vowing why such people should rule over them all support such type of perception rather than diffuse it. I also read the statement from Dan Botswe and my heart laments that such utter denial is dangerous and such people should be overlooked. People must not hide their heads in the sand and pretend nothing of that nature exist. We need a strong opposition to topple an incumbent going forward into a matured democracy

I agree with Agyakum that NPP's membership cut across different ethnic groups across the country. What about the leadership? Is Agyakum himself from the North?

The need to abandon the whipping up of tribal sentiments for tunnelled-vision political gains is more urgent now than ever. We need to increase our understanding of the key issues facing Ghana now. We are all jointly responsible for the welfare of all Ghanaians, irrespective of party affiliations. The current cancerous tribal malignancies must be excised from Ghanaian body politic if we were ever to seriously achieve the geometric development modelled on the likes of South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. We are fortunate to inhabit Ghana, a country endowed with immense resources. All Ghanaian settler clans ASONA, ADUANA, ADWUMANA, AGONA, ASEKYIRI, ASENIE, EKUONA, OYOKO AND OTHERS are very hugely interrelated, have intermarried, have undertaken similar roles of agriculture and politics before relocating to their present traditional areas. We are all talented and vastly experienced in statecraft. We must be committed to increasing our knowledge and understanding of those issues of interest and concern to modernise Ghana. That means reviewing those channels available to us and exploring new ones, where appropriate. The key to this is EDUCATION, EDUCATION. EDUCATION. All parties must be committed to a comprehensive educational strategy. The tribal wars which stoked havoc across the land occupied by modern day Ghana should never be allowed to resurface in the form of tribal politics. AKYEMS AND ASHANTIS ARE COMRADES IN ARMS AND NOT ENEMIES. NANA AKUFFO ADDO'S great grandfather, the father of NANA SIR OFORI ATTAH I & DR. J B DANQUAH by the name NANA YAW BOAKYE was a native of KUMAWU in ASHANTI. OKYENHENE'S uncle is NANA OFFINSOHENE. NANA EDWESOHENE AND NANA YAA ASANTEWAA are all ASONA ROYALS more related to the OKYENHENE. The OKYEMAN NIFAHENE OF ASIAKWA is from the OYOKO ROYAL CLAN OF BAREKESE more related to ASANTEHENE. That OKUAPEMHENE AND AMANOKUROMHENE, HIS DIVISIONAL GYAASEHENE , just to mention a few are all ASONAS, is a living testimony of the oneness of our country. This familial DNA linkages and networks cut across all tribes in Ghana. In fact we must understand what our immediate, short term and long term priorities are. Most of us know what they are and the key roles that individually and collectively we have to play. Perhaps we have to look again at the winner takes all system. Perhaps we must start looking at proportional representation. Without continuous commitment to better Ghana, we will not be able to deliver against our plans. No more inflammation of tribal sentiments. We should not fail Ghana. Posterity will not treat us lightly. LONG LIVE GHANA.
