No one is stopping the MPs for hiring their own bodyguards or body doubles. Other citizens who feel they need security hire their own. As it is, MPs are overpaid so can use some of that money for whatever security or otherwis ...

In most countries parliamentarians/congressmen/women pay for their own accommodation and ride the trains, buses etc., with other citizens. Why are the MPs in Ghana special?

THE THORN IN GHANA'S FLESH:

In my opinion, which is more or less a fact, so far as politics is concerned in Ghana, UP/NPP is not and has not been a political party that has a development agenda for the entire people of Ghana in our nations history. UP/NPP is a tribal coalition of elite Ashantis and Akyeams, whose fundamental agenda is to divide the country for their personal greedy interests.
Their impression to be a political party is fake, and all they need is votes from other tribes to facilitate the ASHANTI/AKYEAM agenda.
Had there been anytime in the nations history that a non ASHANTI/AKYEAM had been the flag bearer of their party? (UP/NPP)
Currently, it seems there is fighting for supremacy between the two (2) ethnic groups,(Ashantis/Akyeams) as to who leads the party in Ghanaian elections. The Ashanti caucus in the NPP are disappointed in the Akyeams for their failure to win the national elections in 2008-2012, and are bent on pulling them down to take over the leadership in the 2016 elections. Lets be honest and roll back our memories to the post-Independence era. How do they treat people in their party who are not an Ashanti/Akyeam? Akufo-Addo and his "Akyeam Mafia" must respect the majority voice of the people, and back down for a peaceful Ghana.
Kuffour under the NPP were declared victors by the same chairman of the EC, (Dr Afari Djan) in 2000 and 2004, and even though the NDC cried foul in the 2004 elections, they conceded for the sake of a peaceful Ghana. Since 1951, the UP/NPP had never accepted results of an election in Gold Coast/Ghana if is not in their favour. A confirmation of their divide and rule agenda, by the ELEMENTS OF SEDITION in the Ghana political system, who have sworn to render Ghana UNGOVERNABLE. They seem to forget that, WHO EVER GOD HAS ORDAINED, NO MAN CAN PUT ASUNDER.

regarded as an outcast. Whether people agree or not, the NPP in my opinion, is an elite tribal "GANGSTERS," and has no interest as a party, but an AGENDA of personal interest. Ghanaians must discard them for our motherland to move forward.

Where is Nunoo Mensah when we need him? It is the MPs who should be told to get their passports and leave the country if they find the kitchen too hot. I am sure every Ghanaian is monumentally sick and tired of the never-ending demands from politicians that keep costing the government lots of money - our money. Just look at the judegement debt mess.

Frankly, we are not getting value for money from our politicians. They cost us oodles of money and yet our situation continues to get worse.

What Ghana really needs is a cost cutting exercise aimed at all politicians and government employees.

However, I am compelled to air my views due to the "Upsetting" remarks and request from George Loh, MP of North Dayi, requsting for police protection because he is MP to discharge his duties. Can Mr. Loh describe his full duties as a Parliamentarian for Ghanaians to see so that the government could discharge policemen to guide his wife, children and him? Can George Loh tell Ghanaians the number of of Parliamentarians and chief executives the country has and the number of policemen would be needed to guide their wives, children and them. I don't know your educational level but let me tell you, George, being an ordinal MP for Norh Dayi you cannot compare yourself to the President, the Vice-President neither members of the judiciary of Ghana for any police protection. It's high time these "MUSHROOM MPS" STOP LORDING THEMSELVES OVER GHANAIANS AND STOP WASTING RESOURSES.
