This idiotic fool Nunoo Mensah was the same idiot who was complaining of hardship and not able to buy three pieces of "tilapia" for GHc 5.00 during Kuffour's government. What kind of ideology is this? Are you of Nkrumah, whose political framework always puts power into the hands of the masses or you came solely for the privilege few? Like his predecessor Atta "Go Slow", John Mahama lacks the leadership qualities to rule a nation. Ghana is suffering from Mahamiases ie some kind of lukewarm attitude.

The NLM/UP and current NPP are noted for using any means necessary to criticise or discredit the government. They criticised anything Dr Kwame Nkrumah did, including our Independence, Akosombo Dam, Tema Harbour, Tema Motorway, GIHOC, and Schools. They've resulted to name calling `Dumso-Dumso`, as if JA Kufour generated more power when in power. They cried electoral fraud when there was none and held the country at ransom for 8 good months. Today, their target is to incite civil servants strike. Ghana is the only country which spends more than 10% of its GDP on salaries. Ever since the Single Spine salary scheme was introduced, the country spends 10% of it GDP on salaries. If Ghana spends more GHC4.7BN on salaries for only 6 MONTHS on 700,000 workers, how much revenue is generated by these workers? We must not be greedy and selfish. There are millions of school leavers who cannot get job and they are blaming the government. At the ministries, departments and other offices, their output is even below expectation. Yet their strike action is justifiable by the power-cautious NPP. When national security advisor, Nunoo-Mensah, is exposing their greediness, people like Nana Akomeah thinks its an insult. Yes, if you can't cope with the situation, 'The door is on your front'. And don't expect the man who is telling the truth should resign. Government spends millions to train doctors, scientists, teachers, lawyers etc but none of them have produced anything that the country can boast of. They go abroad only to enrich themselves. I think the government should prepare unemployed graduates to replace these greedy ones because they will never be content of their pay. I think NPP should stop their hypocrisy and give us a break, because they are not better.

The reason I left Ghana to practice medicine in the west was not because of money, although my pay now is more than 20 times what I used to get in Ghana. I left because I found myself being a slave in my own country to some foolish demented politicians who think the country belongs to them. In addition i have managed to train as a specialist which was not an option for me in Ghana. I remember in my years as a medical student some foolish politicians were daring doctors to leave and that there is no work for them in the West. They are wrong, Ghanaian trained doctors are smart and once we pass all the requisite exams the sky is the limit. But I love my country and want to come home not because I am not happy, far from it. Not because I am not well paid, no Ghana can not give me a tenth of what I now earn. Just because I love my country I want to bring the new knowledge I have acquired home. But listening to such demented folks make me shudder, and I am surprised the president who loved taking a photo in front of CNN, thinks his security adviser who brags to work for the CIA is sane. If these are the only people we have to run the affairs of our country then we are in a real bad shape.!!!!

My worried ghanaian dr. brother, as much as agree with you, I don't think brigadier Nunoo Mensah's frustrations should be brushed aside.
How can an impoverished third world country such as ours afford to spend more 10% GDP on a few thousands salaried civil servants?. Has anyone thought of the bigger picture in the form of this humongous delima stiring us in the face?
I blame the dumb ass who brought the single spin into fruition and an equally moronic bunch who accepted to implement it.
Most politicians all over the world make dumb comments all the time so,this statement from the old brigadier is nothing new. We have politicians in the americas who make inflamatory statements about civil servants and workers all the time.
Unfortunately, you have to use the crude language some times to get your message across.
Sometimes credit needs to be given to the mother who nursed you when you were helpless as an infant. That is what Ghana as a country is or should be to us all.
I will therefore plead with you not to dwell so much on what a politician says. Life is full of risks and it is worth risking to help our mother Ghana.
God bless you Dr.,the country Ghana and its people

Then the electric companies are charging 100% or more instead of the 80%. Enough of the political stupidity, indiscipline and unconstructive and negative attitude of some of our work force who sadly, are mislead by some politically lawless and egotistical elements in Ghana. We are strongly behind you Mr President, Nunoo Mensah and all those whose actions will enhance the development and advancement of Ghana. The serious truth must be heard without any hesitation.

You workers have single spine. The rest of us have nothing. By dint of our hard work we eat our bread. Yet you are not satisfied with what you are given and want to demonstrate. Go ahead and demonstrate. We will also demonstrate then we would see how you would get food to eat and water to drink. The current problems to some extent are caused by the SSSS. Are we all not suffering because of you? OK Government should scrape the SSSS. Ungrateful workers.

Woaa look na tie! Mahama was in the news promising new military, police and national security job training and security etc. He's made every promise there is to be made, yet things continue to fall apart for Ghanaian workers. Now he and his govt. wants hard-working citizens of the land to leave the country and probably seek refugee status in foreign lands.
Instead for him to apologise to Ghanaians for the loose utterances by his security advisor, he's rather thrown his support against beleaguered man. What a shame! NDC cannot see their way clear and have resorted to crazy schemes etc. We're seeing for real, the effects of election fraud in any country. Things aren't going well, at all for Ghanaians. I think there should be another election for president. John Mahama is caught in a box; he is in darkness! I feel very bad for him.

Much as I don't like the government paying so much money-SSSS- to fund the system full of redundant employees ranging from the too many MPs in parliament and Ministers to the way, way too many civil employees in our ministries, I do not condone employees going on strikes and expected to be paid. However, there's no reason why some teachers should not be paid for two years while MPs doubled their salaries and perks. I also believe this is politically motivated. If any opposition party believes in strikes, then they should wait till they get the nod of the people of Ghana to be at the helm of affairs of the nation and I will be willing to offer my services to lead strikes of the people every day to 'help' move the nation forward. If the government has instituted the SSSS, then it has to double its efforts in collecting taxes, plugging all wastes in the system and tackling corruption headlong. This needs total house cleaning starting from the President's house, the MPs, Ministers and their ministries through to the heads of departments. Much of our attention and emphasis must be focus in laying down the infrastructure of the nation and empowering the private sector to grow. This is how the government is going to wean itself of waste and collecting more revenue to improve the economy. Does any government in this country ever listens to its people?

He bluntly said it all. It might seem expedient to hound govt. even in the face of the evident difficulties with raising cash to pay public sector wages. Some might even take advantage and advocate that there should be labor unrest. the truth is, we might just end up with a situation like Egypt. I am sorry no one will be the winner.
Lets be guided, lets show more patriotism, and above all the rulling elite should F'ing stop taking us for granted.

Akomea of NPP, please do not lie to the world and to the weak minded population and the selfish workers in Ghana, that what Nunoo Mensah is talking about is over the workers' salaries. The Brigadier-General asked the workers to sacrifice, when you know very well that it is over the workers salary allowances and not their monthly salaries. Why all these lies???
Akomea, you are aware that the salary allowances in question is of the result of the [SSSS] single spine salary structure that Kufour and his NPP govt introduced and failed to impliment that had created the mess of salary difference of which you Akomea is part of this useless mess caused that is creating the hell in the nation's economy.
Pease understand that you can fool your village people and the foolish ones in the NPP, but your wicked mind can not work against the plans God has for Ghana.
Akomea can not lie and go free. My point here is concerning the salaries of the nurses and teachers who had not been paid for 20 months is a big lie because my wife is a senior high school teacher who receives her salary every month though she had complained of her allowances, if so why should Akomea make LIEFUL statements against Nunoo Mensah?
You do not have to be silly and a political bigopt spitting out political fallacies to create more tension in the system. You may have political ambition to hold big position in your NPP but do not let that put you in disgrace before the genuine and patriotic educated ones.
If Akomea wants people to hear his voice on both the TV the radio then I think it is time he checks himself because the real concerned Ghanaians will never permit him to say foolish baseless things which won't help our nation but instead create more tension among us.
Why are you lying to the public? If workers salaries have not been paid for 20 MONTHS, do you think Nunoo Mensah would say that if they could not sacrifice then they can then leave the nation?
Please primitive minded Akomea if you want to gain political fame in Ghana, never let it come via ill political statement. May be your political fallacies will work in your village, and among sick minded people who are driven by retrogressive political, tribal and 'my party NPP' bigotry.
Nunoo Mensah had sacrificed and still ever ready to sacrifice and had with great love for Ghana contributed his quota in his taste of building schools for the Ghanaians. What have you Akomea done? Kindly state yours, so that you possibly commission it for all eyes and ears to bear you witness.
At this point, most people need good minded people who claimed to be politicians to help solve our national problem through cooperation, and not in the midst of hatred and ever following the stupid minds of drag/pull him down political mentality of the past.

Okai, you should rather come clean by submitting that you are a die-hard NDC supporter and that come rain or shine you will support this govt's actions and inactions. Other than that, why would you differentiate between workers salaries and allowances due to them? And if you insist the SSSS was part of the mess Mahama's govt inherited from Kufour, why did you fail to explain why the NDC fail to tell the workers that they were against the SSSS and that if voted into power they will not honour those terms and conditions?
I am here saying that, let us tell the people the truth right from the onset so that they know clearly the stand and true policies of a party before casting their votes. Everybody knows the old general was telling the truth; the NPP, knows it. That party is using organised labour to foment industrial strife in its quest, to gain political advantage over Mahama's administration.
Their predecessor, the United Party under Busia, did to Dr Kwame Nkrumah when he was on foreign trip, when the party instigated the Railway Workers' Union - the strongest union at the time - to strike to derail Dr Nkrumah's development agenda, and it did. Thank goodness, when the UP and its associate, the NLC, took power, bit by bit they starved the railways the needed investment and left it, subsequently, worthless as at now.
The articulators or juggernauts on our roads began from that period. The policy was to make these, privately owned, 'killer' vehicles convey our country's heavy goods to their destinations instead of the train. The consequence has been the demise of the Railway, along with the, hitherto, strong railway union within the TUC.
If the past can be the mirror of the present, the same fate awaits the unions which are being used by the NPP to create problems for Mahama's government.

DEAR H.E.PRESIDENT OF GHANA JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA, NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR AND THE READING PUBLIC OF GHANAWEB.COM,
THIS IS TO RESPECTFULLY REFER TO THE ABOVE RELATED SUBJECT-MATTER WHICH HAS GAINED CURRENCY NOW AND TO RESPECTFULLY SUBMIT THAT "WHAT REALLY MATTERS NOW IS THE ESSENCE AND THE "SINE QUA NON" OF POLITICS ITSELF WHICH IS "TO PROMOTE THE QUALITY GOOD OF THE PEOPLE" AND IT IS MY BEST UNDERSTANDING THAT THAT IS THE OVER_RIDING OBJECTIVES OF H.E.PRESIDENT OF GHANA JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA AND GOVERNMENT OF GHANA TO HELP PROMOTE THE QUALITY GOOD OF THE GOOD PEOPLE OF GHANA.
IF THE ABOVE RELATED PREMISE I BELIEVED IS RIGHT THEN THERE IS NO WAY THE PEOPLE GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE PRESIDENT CAN BE DRAWN INTO CONTROVERSY WITH SOME OF THE PEOPLE.
THIS IS BECAUSE THE DICTUM OF THE LATE PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ABRAHAM LINCOLN REMARKS AT THE DEDICATION CEREMONY OF THE GETTYSBERG CEMETERY AFTER THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR WHEN HE SAID AMONGST OTHERS, "--- SO FAR AS THESE HEROES GAVE THEIR LAST BREATH OF FREEDOM FOR THE SAKE OF THE FREEDOM OF OTHERS THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THIS PLANET EARTH".
THAT THE ABOVE RELATED DICTUM HAS BEEN ACCEPTED THE WORLD OVER AS THE "DICTUM OF DEMOCRACY ITSELF".
THAT DEMOCRACY BROUGHT TO AN END THE "POWER OF THE OLIGARCHY AND OTHERS" THEREFORE, THE PEOPLE PRESIDENT AND THE PEOPLE GOVERNMENT TO BE SEEN TO STAND WITH THE PEOPLE BY GIVEN THEM THE ASSURANCES OF HOPE THAT SPARKS THE ENGINE OF FAITH, TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN LEADERSHIP AND THE GOVERNMENT AND GHANA CANNOT BE SEEN TO DO THE CONTRARY.
THAT THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF GHANA THE LATE OSAGYEFO DR.KWAME NKRUMAH IN WHIPPING THE ASSURANCES OF HOPE IN THE GHANAIAN WORKERS CAME OUT WITH A SLOGAN "WORK AND HAPPINESS TO BUILD A BEAUTIFUL GHANA".
THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF H.E.PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA OBJECTIVE IS TO BUILD BETTER GHANA AND THEREFORE NEEDS ALL HANDS TO WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE THAT DESIRED OBJECTIVE.
THAT IT IS A CARDINAL PRINCIPLE OF DEMOCRACY TO BE TOLERANT AND TO ALSO LISTEN TO THE MINORITY VIEWS SINCE DIALOGUE IS GOLDEN THAT BRINGS ABOUT UNDERSTANDING, UNITY IN DIVERSITY AND PEACE.
THAT GHANA NEEDS INDUSTRIAL RELATED HARMONY AND PEACE TO UNDERTAKE HER DEVELOPMENTAL GOALS AND THAT IS WHAT GHANA NEEDS NOW.
THAT TO BE WASTING PRECIOUS TIME ANALYSING A STATEMENT MADE BY AN OFFICIAL OR INDIVIDUAL IT IS MY RESPECTFUL SUBMISSION THAT IF THE GENERAL PUBLIC OR SOME MISCONSTRUED A STATEMENT OR REMARK MADE BY AN OFFICIAL OF THE STATE OR INDIVIDUAL IT IS GOLDEN TO APOLOGISE FOR SUCH STATEMENT OR REMARKS FOR THE SAKE OF THE BEST NATIONAL INTEREST TO HELP GHANA TO MOVE FORWARD.
THAT IT IS TRUE THAT STRIKES AGITATIONS ARE NOT IN THE BEST NATIONAL INTEREST THEREFORE THERE IS THE NEED TO TAKE A CAUSAL LOOK AT THE ROOT OF IT AND IT MAY ALSO BE A PLOY OF SABOTAGE OF GOVERNMENT EFFORTS BUT IT NEEDS TACTICAL AND STRATEGIC APPROACH.
THAT TAKING MY OWNSELF AS A CASE STUDY THAT I HAD WORKED FOR ALMOST 23 YEARS FIRST AS A PROFESSIONAL POST-SECONDARY TEACHER AND ALSO AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR WITH THE GHANA CIVIL SERVICE BEFORE I LEFT GHANA.
THAT SSNIT CALCULATED MY BENEFITS WITH A LUMP SUM OF ONLY GHC584.79 WITH GHC100.00 MONTHLY PAYMENT.
WHILE ACCORDING TO GHANA BAR ASSOCIATION APPROVED STANDARD SCALE OF FEES FOR LAWYERS TO CHARGE THAT AS A LAWYER MORE THAN 10 YEARS CONSULTATION FEES ALONE IS GHC 500.00
THAT SSNIT GAVE AN EXPLANATION THAT IS NEVER ACCEPTED BY ME AND IT WOULD BY ALL MEANS GOING TO RESULT INTO LAWSUIT.
THAT THE EXPLANATION WAS GHANA H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT OF GHANA JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR NPP GOVERNMENT AMORTIZED THE CEDI THEREFORE THOSE OF US WHOSE EARNINGS FALL WITHIN THOSE ERAS MONEY HAS BEEN AMORTIZED AND EVEN MY GHANA COMMERCIAL BANK CURRENT ACCOUNT I DULY OPERATED AT THE OSU BRANCH WAS ALSO CLOSED WITHOUT MY NOTIFICATION AND CONSENT.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MONEY IN THE ACCOUNT ONLY GOD WHO KNOWS?
TAKING COGNIZANCE OF THE ABOVE RELATED MATTERS THAT ISSUES CONCERNING WORKERS TO BE DEALT WITH MY MATURITY, TACT AND DIPLOMACY TO HELP ENERGIZE THE ENGINE OF HOPE IN THE WORKERS.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED.
GOD BLESS GHANA AND LONG LIVE GHANA.
VERY TRULY YOURS,

If this country is dying, has the general attempted to revive it by crusading against political theft, including rigging elections, bribery and corruption, lawlessness. This man should start from the top where the plans are made and work his way down to the ordinary folks. He certainly took the cheap approach to make a name for himself. If he is that bold, he should look Mahama in the eye and tell him to stop destroying the country with his incompetence and theft. That is what brave men do but is he as BOLD?. His posture is only protecting the status quo and attacking the weak.

If this country is dying, has the General attempted to revive it by crusading against political theft, including rigging elections, bribery and corruption, lawlessness, JJ's unnecessary interruptions, Civil Servant theft, tax evasions, police corruption. His crusade will certainly fall apart if he does not do the right thing and yes, General Nunuu himself is contributing to the destruction of the country by his silence over the grandiose scheme of the politicians. May I say he is a coward?
