its not good to insult these men cuz they are respectable people in our society. they have expressed their opinions, express yours. dont insult them. i agree with them in relations to the doctors. they go on strike and leave people to die. meanwhile they set up private hospitals and medical centres and take all the big monies in the world and yet are not satisfied. when these doctors go on strike, they direct patients to come to their private medical centres to be attended to them. if you don't have money to pay, especially when you want to benefit from health insurance by the government, which these private centres do not take, that means you have to remain there and probably die.it takes a patriotic and God-fearing doctor to put monetary gains (which we wont carry along to our graves)and see to these patients. its true. some civil servants are sooo unpatriotic, especially the doctors. i hate it when they go on strike upon all the big monies they are taking. they decided to put the saving of lives on their shoulder, nobody did.so if they are in it, they must do it well.if it must be done, it must be done well. on the other hand, if government can give already -rich footballers large sums of money as winning bonuses, then seriously it can address the labour concerns of our hardworking and cherished civil servants.so government, address the recent labour problems cuz u can do it. life is difficult now o, so do something.

I am not a Civil Servant but I really do wonder and worry how Ghanaian workers manage from month to month with their families on such a meager stipend.
Does this alone not indicate that they have been sacrificing all these years since independence without much complaint? And now when you test their nerves by not paying them at all, or when you pay when you choose to, these demented idiots with 'yomo' in their hair dont understand? What bullshit is this!
I would be ashamed to admit to lets say an American that, the official minimum MONTHLY salary of Ghana where I come from, is about as much as or less than the minimum HOURLY salary of an average American.
I think we should all be ashamed of ourselves.

When you are in the mould like everlasting Mugabe and convincing only yourself to be youthful at that ripe age having amassed some wealth, it is impossible to identify with the youth. Both elder statesmen have things in common so it is not surprising they in agreement. Whether it is NPP or NDC they survive with their agile connections. The youth now has little hope in the face of mass corruption and daylight robbery by our present government which profess patriotism yet are selfish and never patriotic so far as their actions speak for them. Having been favoured by his henchman in stolen verdict, one expects the Boss to quickly make amends by settling to real hard work of putting things right. He is just making historical references instead of making a positive impact to etch himself in history reminding us a bit of forgotten Limann. Mr. President good name is better than riches so stop throwing dust into our eyes. Stop the propaganda and settle down for progressive action. When late Prez Mills didn't have his kids, I could sympathize with him for not knowing how a hungry child feels like but that cannot be said of Super-Dad Mahama. I don't think Ghanaians are overly greedy or complain unnecessarily if there is no cause for it. We all know horses existed but Jesus chose donkeys for humility. Our priests and politicians are competing with each other as to who drives the biggest SUV and 4X4 forgetting that both ways, they depend on the public they are supposed to serve. Also, it is money only you cannot have enough but live and let us live is all being asked. Authorities are being asked to be fair only for us all to put in genuine efforts to building GHANA. So retired Brigadier be nice for it is the same people to mourn you.

Esi, your obvious ignorance of conditions in Ghana suggest that you have not worked in Ghana before. If you have, then you had your head in the skies.
Let us assume in our wildest dreams that the average worker is paid GHC400.00 a month - and in a month;
He spends GHC120.00 on gas for his kitchen
He spends GHC150.00 on electricity
He spends GHC80.00 on water bills
He spends GHC100.00 on transport to and from work only
He spends GHC200.00 (excluding school fees) towards the schooling of his two kids
He spends the barest minimum of GHC200.00 on food requirements for the 4 member family
He spends the barest minimum of GHC150.00 for a large one-bedroom rented premises to accommodate his whole family in a squalid community.
These most basic necessities amount to roughly GHC1000.00. Now let any sinful fool tell me whether Ghanaian workers have not been sacrificing enough for this country.
Let any swine in those useless institutions who call themselves World Bank, IMF or govt and who are paid upwards of GHC10,000.00 a month, tell me why the average worker would not also engage in 'corruption' to eke out the barest minimum of life for himself and family.
Those jokers and clowns who call themselves economists and financial analysts in this country should also tell us how much official capital flight we as a country suffer from each year since 1966 to date.

It's time the rest of the almost 25million Ghanaians rise against the few (just about 500,000) public workers consuming close 80 percent of public purse but still not satisfied. Indeed these politicians are clueless. They need lessons on public utterances. He enjoys a fat salary, lives in big houses, chauffeur driven in several 4-weelers and has a security escort even when he goes to pee as Rawlings indicated recently. He is able to travel outside Ghana for medical care. So his careless remarks had no Ghanaian interest in mind except appeasing the political cheats in Ghana. So the doctors, nurses and teachers could pack an leave Ghana and he does not care a hoot as it will have zero impact on him and his family.

I now believe that if you get old you turn to think like a child. I advise K.B Asante to retire to his gardens to play with his grands and never-ever make any public derogatory statements till his death which will come fairly soon.
Sorry for such elementary and unguided statements coming from two old guys who have lost touch with current burning national issues.
Unpaid striking workers asking to go out from the country is certainly not the wise thing to do.
It's pathetic to have such old for nothings running the corridors of political power messing up opportunities for the youth.

As for KB, in consideration for many known accomplishments in public life, we can excuse him for this momentary lapse.
But as for that dirty uncouth bushboy whose only working life has been to march up and down in military barracks and on occasion engaging in military coups d'etat and for this being promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, he must be condemned in no uncertain terms.
Somebody should ask him if he has in his entire working life, ever paid for the electricity and water that he uses in the barracks? Has he ever paid for rent in the mansions he lives in at the barracks and in govt bungalows?
He should shut up and give us a break!

I don't agree with your position with respect to the comment made by Nunoo Mensah. It is completely irresponsible, reprehensible, smacks of a frustrated and confused NDC appointee and apologist, lacks intellectual depth, grossly unintelligent coming from a character tasked with the security of the state.
Your position as to the needed why's and how's as to the strike action by all public sector workers demanding their legitimate allowances due them, is poignant and apt.
I would further go on to suggest that a vote of no confidence be passed in the Mahama gov't, due to their abysmal failure and monumental incompetence and sheer ineptitude, leading to the dissolution of parliament, and fresh elections held. We have gone past pointing out the numerous problems bedeviling the Mills-Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration, which solutions are not forthcoming, but keeps escalating with each passing day, with the President asking for patient, and now, asking Ghanaians to sacrifice akin to tightening their belt, whilst their girth keeps increasing with each passing day. Ghana needs to move forward from it's downward spiral of retrogression, stagnation, thievery, corruption and a visionless, clueless gov't totally bereft of the requisite intelligence, mental focus and ability to turn the fortunes of the country around.

By the end of the day who is the government?. It is you and I. We the citizens should equally blame ourselves for the economic and social derogations in the country. Our attitude must change and the myth that government must solve all problems must stop. The government needs you and I to stop our negative performances i.e corruption and show our commitment to the protection of state property, patriotism, honesty and the pride to see Ghana advance and progress. K.B Asante and Nunoo Mensah are absolutely right. Ghanaians are quick and easily like to make comparisons especially, comparing Ghana to Malaysia, US, UK etc. They don't have the faintest idea how all these countries fought and committed themselves and sacrificed for their countries. Our people are rather quick to destroy merely on their political affiliations instead of adopting a measure to improve the situation. Ironically, these people are the same workers at the Ministries, co-operations, Institutions, establishments, Public Services, National Security agencies(police, army, Border Guard, etc) Porst of Entry, are the same people who cause the downfall of our country. Strikes on political grounds always sadly destroy instead.

Hello Kponyo, interestingly let me ask you- how many American or a European etc bears African names and for that matter, Ghanaian names?.
So all those of you who are proud to have European or Biblical names or from foreign countries including your children, are not Ghanaians then because they don't have Ghanaian names.
Let me educate your childish mind. Names are chosen for various reasons e.g day, month of birth. Some people name from maternal or paternal parents. Others name to remind them of a special occasion, anniversary or a tragedy, the town they come from, the parents or family relationships to a town because of trade or settlement in another country. Names also shows ones hierarchy in the family or the number of females or males by the parents etc.
So Kponyo I think this is free education for you. You don't need to pay any consultation or tuition fee. But please, think wisely before spewing you shallow views on the web.

Are we really muslims and christians? It is very clear a very high percentage of Ghanaians do not care about the welfare of the country. It is like your mother who breastfeeds you and you do not care whether she dies or not. And the reason for this your attitude is simply so that Kofi would be blamed for not taking good care of your mother. The question we should be asking is, if you are a true son of this old lady, would you do this? If you think that the family will ask you to take care of the old lady, what if she dies? I am very sad and I think our politics may not help us. God safe us.

A look at all collective agreements in this country shows that there are no article in them that control the price of food, utilities and services. So a person who says he is going on strike over an item that is not in the article of any collective agreement is just an anarchist. It looks like the T.U.C. will soon tell the state to go to every markets and control the price of any item sold in them. We hope that the TUC will not also call on foreign companies that buy our raw materials to effect a price control mechanism in which case raw material from Ghana will cost less than those from other countries. We also thing that from there they will call for wage control. Let us stop all these absurdities and get to work. S.K.B. Asante supervised the construction of the State House, what has those who are insulting him brought to the table called Ghana. This is a T.U.C. which can not put even a solar panel on the building that the state gave to it free of charge and even generate biogas for its kitchen, even if it exists.
