Ask yourself, why was Ghana Airways cannibalised in favour of the Mormons Ghana International? It was because Jake Obetsebi's children needed to be awarded scholarships to study (FREE SHS?)at the Mormons university in Utah, USA. Secondly, this Kufour was in a hurry share the airline's assets to Brother in law, JH Mensah, Akoto Osei, Vuvusela Owusu and others. As the Ghana Telecom Loot, I asked myself Kufour and his NPP gangsters (including Akufo Addo) who prepared the sales and purchase agreement are GHANAIANS. Certainly, no PATRIOTIC Ghanaian will ever sign such an agreement.

All Ghanaian bosses prefer working with foreigners than fellow Ghanaians because of their kuluulu ways and the fear of fellow Ghanaian leaking secrets. All big men in Ghana enjoy stealing in a way or another from the institution they head. That's why they always seem autocratic in their management of affairs.

The last I checked, when Ghana Airways, the national career of nearly 50 years was sold to "GHANAIAN INVESTORS"? I hope people who wish to write on special topics like this one would get their facts and the details right before embarking on such an adventure.
Surely the Rand Corporation and ECOBANK are not Nigerian companies? Why single out the ICB and Nigerian companies? I am sure there are Nigerian banks which are already well established in Ghana (and the rest of Africa) and are apparently doing very well.
Who allowed Zenith, UBA and others to set up shop in Ghana and other countries?
The finance sector is now a global business which is fast losing State control, a real pity and as an Economist once told me, if you have no control over your state financial structures, you are at the mercy of others. The Commercial Bank has failed over decades and needed to be rescued but I doubt if anyone (Ghanaian or not) should have a monopoly over ownership.
What we need is to make sure the business transaction is good and takes a long term view in terms of benefits to the country.
Stop this nonsense and conduct a thorough research into your topic before writing. And by the way why should it always be an NPP Economics person making the complaint? Can't we do this without bringing parties into it?

GHANA IS NOT AN ISLAND. IF FIRST BANK GAVE NOTICE OF BUYING THE ICB GROUP ACROSS WEST AFRICA IN MARCH, GHANAIANS CANNOT BE PRESSING GOVT IN AUGUST TO ENGINEER A SALE TO NATIONALS. THE BOG HAS TO PLAY BY GLOBAL BEST PRACTICE. IT IS CHEAP FOR THE MEDIA TO START SCREAMING CORRUPTION RATHER THAN ADVISING LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS TO RATHER LEAD. THE LOCAL BID TO PURCHASE ICB DID NOT HAVE TO BE IN REACTION TO A FOREIGN INITIATIVE OR ELSE WE WOULD SOIL OUR ATTRACTIVENESS AS AN INVESTMENT DESTINATION.

why can't the successful businessmen also establish their own bank, because icb is purely a private bank and not owned by the government. i still hold the view that sunkwa is right

Who is Karim Hamza? How much have you been paid to display your ignorance on this issue? Hamza,it is very painful to attempt to destroy the hard earned reputation of people in the society especially if you are writing on an issue you have little or no idea about.Bank of Ghana is not Dr Wampah even though one can argue that as the governor, he takes responsibility for the palace.
Once again, the state of Ghana or government does not own any shares in ICB.We now know that ICB was owned by a single person,Tun Daim from Malaysia. Is this man telling us that he asked Dr Wampah to sell ICB and Dr Wampah gave it out to First Nigerian Bank when other Ghanaians have expressed interest? Do we understand private placement in Finance?
I am informed that there banks in this country who are afraid of seeing FNB operate in Ghana and are doing everything possible to forestall this genuine and potentially bright opportunity for Ghanaians to get employment because this bank will expand the branch network when it starts operation in the country.
Those Ghanaians including Jospong Group who want to operate banking business from the rotten money from Gyeeda can start from the scratch to open one.
Last week , some of us had the opportunity to comment on a similar issue on ICB but it appears these people have not learnt anything from the explanations.I dont intend to write anything further on this issue but to simply tell those faceless individuals who are trying to ensure that FNB do not acquire ICB that the curse of God's people will be upon them.
The state of Ghana belong to all of us and nobody's interest supercedes the interests of Ghanaians working in ICB.
I will further entreat all of us to look at the financial statements of ICB for the past 17 years to understand why an investor like Tun Daim will decide to offload interest to FSB.
We have real problem in this country . Even though we claim to be making progress, our condition of life does not match the supposed progress being made.It is because personal and private interests undelines most of the efforts. Instead of looking at the professional and national interests we keep to our personal interests as we are reading in the ICB case. WEhich of those Ghanains interested in ICB can match FNB? We are not a serious people.

Karim Hamza! But I have come to learn enough about international banks, transnational financial dealings, and the the kind of havoc they can cause to a fragile economy such as ours with all its attendant porous control mechanisms. Therefore when we see RED ALERTS like 'INSIDER TRADING, we should hasten slowly, and err on the side of caution!A senior management official of FNB, a courageos lady, was reported to have objected to the underhanded dealings of her colleagues, and tipped off federal regulators in their country. What independent checks has the 'big boys' at BOG done to satisfy themselves that plying with potential danger by allowing these 'crooked naija boys' into our peaceful adode? Let`s forget about some of the 'old frendships' from McGill!
