Blame everything on NPP when your family cannot pay those increases. They shall be calling you at dawn to send money home. Being irresponsible, I know you shall not pick such calls or tell them that you have traveled. Shame rather on you.

All of them are Elites....and you should expect them to behave this way. They have generators in their respective home s and will switch it on when the lights go off. They don't really care as they appear to be. The answer to all these is simple, the Government should sell all these utility companies as they sold the mines. When AGC was going down it was sold. Even though we were told it was a merger.

Tee you are a little minded stooge. What is this nonsense about Margaret Thatcher the old witch being good for Ghana when her own people detested her? I am sure you are one of these people who wear second-hand underwear because you consider yourself as being privileged to wear used garbage and rubbish of white people.
Her people hated her like hell and when she died the majority of the population and many people around the world rejoiced at her death. This is unprecedentd for a world leader and you this clown,Tee, you think this Thatcher shit is good for Ghana? Come on wake up! Have some respect for your own kind.
Im not sure you live in Ghana otherwise you would not have made the daft statement that there is positive change after Ghana Telecom was sold to Vodafone.
The truth is that there is negative change. I used to use their services and very often, I had to drive all the way to their offices to go and pick up a technician to come and rectify one fault or another. I would be lucky to freely chauffeur one of their technicians to come and do the job on the same day otherwise, it can take up to 4 weeks for technicians to show up to fix a small fault which inevitably will break down again sooner than later. The same goes for all those other privatized state companies.
In spite of the rapid growth of mobile telephone subscriptions in Ghana generally, this has not reflected in the fortunes of Vodafone subscriptions as a private operator. The majority of its current subscribers are loyal clients from the days of Ghana Telecom.
A private company from South Africa came to manage the water system and that also turned out to be a complete nightmare until they were sacked.
Today nothing seems to work in Ghana anymore because the private sector has taken control of large chunks of the economy.
For your education, any company, be it private or state, is as good as its manager or management. The problem of shortcomings with state companies when these occur is that, obtuse and inept politicians appoint incompetent subordinates only just to pursue a corrupt agenda.
In spite of this the state runs many successful companies which make a mockery of privately run companies in Ghana.
It is plain stupidity to allow the private sector to grow above the state sector in a developing economy where incomes are abominably low, experienced technocrats are rare and even operating capital is hard to come by.
In the US for example, the minimum wage is being pegged and controlled at $15.00 an HOUR. Whilst in Ghana, the minimum wage for 80% of the at most 20% adult employed is at most, ?4.00 per DAY.
Meanwhile, as an example, imported goods from the US with freight, customs and tax duties imposed, cost sometimes 2 times more than they would in stores in the US.
The most hilarious example is that a typical two-bedroom house built by the private sector in Ghana with lack of running potable water, a lack of uninterruptible electricity, lack of good access roads and social amenities, costs as much GH?250,00.00 DOWN PAYMENT. A similar two-bedroom house in the US or Britain with all the above-mentioned amenities, better purchasing power BY BETTER PAID INDIVIDUALS, available credit opportunities and more, would cost about half as much.
OK, so as you stated, AGC was going down and it was sold. So since it was sold, what have we, you and I, got from that transaction or rather sell-out?
What have we got from all the many other hundreds of state institutions that Nkrumah set up and which were sold to greedy crooks who come under the name of investors and businessmen? Why cant the private sector - local and foreign set up their own initiative but always prey on state sector industries and service providers?
If the peanuts and rat shit which 'we happily' enjoy as a result of these so-called investments, is sufficient for pea-brained niggers like you, some of us are not. We feel cheated and belittled because we still feel like we are stuck in a colonial slave economy.
Now look here Tee, did we go to school to become stupid or what?
Because of the obviously bad education - which is actually imperialist brainwashing which you suffer from, you have become a very dangerous imperialist vector. Your unfortunate mind-set is structured on dishonest and unrealistic imperialist economic theories about progress and development.

The approach by the TUC is in the right direction. We should not bear the brunt of the bad decisions taken by politicians because they hold power to administer the country.
The government and agreement with PURC deliberately delayed the application of tariff adjustment because of political expediency. Thinking of negative consequence of tariff increment in 2012, the government delayed its application because of the pending elections. The elections is over so it is convenient to apply now.
Tariffs have been increased in the past , though with hesitation from consumers but they have eventually accepted it in principle especially when there was the need for it. The percentage increases have not been astronomical during those circumstances as the current one.
In my view the present increase should be applied gradually to cover at least two months so that the impact will not hard to absorb. This is the approach the people expected. When a loan facility is taken from the bank, the repayment is spread over time so that it is manageable by borrowers.
All well meaning people should back the TUC to press for a reduction in the current increase.

Sometimes I wonder who are the people that comment on issues. Excuse my language, but some of them are sick. This is a very important issue that affect our parents and family back home, and people just make stup*d statements to draw attention from the main issue. 79 percent increase in electricity tariffs and 52 percent in water tariff is outrageous, what kind of sick situation is this and if TUC is complaining about unfruitful meetings with the government, people are passing unnecessary comments. This is not about TUC, it is about the motherland. Wake up guys, don't sell your conscience for politics and money, Judas did that to Jesus and committed suicide. Be wise, this is our country.
