How on earth could products be sent to the FDA for testing and for over one year no response could be made on the aforementioned? This needs to be investigated. Some officials have taken the FDA as their personal properties and without bribe your product would not be approved. Is this the Better Ghana we are experiencing? The complainant is alway correct in Ghana. FDA should be seriously investigated. On submission of any product for testing tom the FDA when should the result be produced?

I asked the same questions when this news items was first reported on Ghanaweb. How on earth could the drugs have been imported into Ghana, cleared from the ports and distributed to hospitals without the knowledge of the FDA and other authorities such as ministry of health? The story does not add up. There is definitely collusion between the importers, FDA, ministry of health and National Health Insurance Scheme as well as probably the hospitals.
What is shocking is that the officials of the importers and distributors are still free in Ghana and have the audacity to sue FDA. In any democratic country, these officials would have been arrested and charged and prosecuted for the crimes they have committed. But in Ghana, they will end up being paid huge sums of money in judgement debt in a year or two. That is create, loot and share enterprise in Ghana.

I believe the Society is being lead by the same people who are importing the fake drugs. Otherwise why can't they come clean on it. As for the other association, They are busy negotiating salary increment with the government and how to go on strike. Pharmacist should hold the profession in high esteem. The association should be separated from being a labour force to a professional association to address issues like these.

Folks, Ghana Ba's comment (what are you doing in the UK?) is baseless. Anyone from Ghana or any free country on the planet can choose to go live wherever they want. That certainly do not exclude them from contributing to pertinent national developmental discourse.
It breaks my heart to see Ghana has not changed with every Government's ineffectiveness, inaction, and somnolence. The story of government doing absolutely NOTHING about public complaints and concerns go back after Nkrumah was ousted. Rawlings was the exception (apart from the excesses during his rule). Anyone can shout from the mountaintop about any serious matter in Ghana, and believe me, no action will be taken by the government and its appointed officials. They care only about the millions of Cedis with which they can line the seams of their pockets. They truly do not give a damn about the people who voted them into power.
The offices of GIPC, Customs, Port authority, etc. etc., yes, and the Ghana FDA are filled with CORRUPT inept, money-hungry, Pull-Him-Down individuals masquerading as officials of the state who break the back of Ghana. Those unable to pay bribes can go to hell, according to their rule book. These governmental and quasi-state Agencies revel in frustrating entrepreneurial spirit and anyone they deem progressive.
I also ask in the wake of this latest Tobinco imbroglio; Where is the Ghana Pharmaceutical Council and the Ghana Medical Association? Relevant agencies and individuals in Ghana must mobilize and demonstrate with marches on the streets to make the Government hear it LOUDLY that the people cannot accept this nonchalant Business as usual attitude from the government any more. Ghana has been marking time for more than 50 years, unlike countries such as Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and other progressive nations.
I do not blame the FDA or anyone; the blame rests fully at the feet of an uncaring, unfeeling, lazy and sleeping government.
Let us all open our eyes and see what the government will do about these infractions. Nothing will be done, but I pray I am proved wrong. The seed of greed, jealousy and apathy is probably embedded in the genes of most Ghanaians - so help us God!

We have recently heard about GYEEDA, The Ghana National Fire Service Uniform saga, this Jobinco stinker, and many others. So what kind of service does the Ghanaian taxpayer get for all his troubles? All those officials that live on state freebies, riding the latest 4DW vehicles with 'huuhuudious' titles?
The beginnings of a failed state indeed.

Which FDA official cleared the goods from the ports and why should the CEO tell Tobin to quarantine the drugs. You import something that is not good and you are helped to clear from the port and you are told to quarantine it yourself. You rape a child and you are told to stay with the victim till you are arrested. This guy hates pharmacists. A pharmacist must be appointed in his place.

Connivance indeed. Asem beba dabi. I once said that the FDA is making all these noise probably because some official didn't get their fair share of the deal to bring unwholesome drugs into the country? Probably the FDA official do not know that deals in their outfit are open secret. Mr. Aseidu questions are well posed and they must be answered. The answers should be in public domain because public are interested. Public want to know why fake drugs are allowed into the system before they are warned.

I agree something should be done about corruption in Ghana in all areas of the society. This anger and frustration is spilling over but the same people who complain about it in the media are the under pinning agents of corruption in Ghana. If Mr. Asiedu is not trying to make name for himself, then he would direct his anger and frustration to the Ministry of Health. Hold the minister responsible for negligence of duty. Parliament also has a responsibility to set up an investigation body to investigate activities of every department, company or any entity operating in Ghana. Many times, we assume our government is only the Executive branch. Our government consists of Three branches, and if one branch is negligible, other branches must step in and do their ordained duty to expose weakness in our system to meet the check and balances in our constitution. We are expecting too much from one branch, i.e., the Executive branch. Where does Parliament step in and do their duty as peoples' representatives?
Try this system and our society will benefit a great deal.
