Thus B--S, Election petition has nothing to do with the economic decline. The fact is Ghanaians has elected meatball heads to lead the country, and at the same time, the government is not focusing the most important issues which will bust the economy but rather just spending the money. The shameless NDC government has returned the country to the economics of the Acheampong era whereby the govt borrows heavily from foreign sources and then mortgages all exports over an extended period of time to pay for it. Meanwhile, the borrowed money is not utilized for national development but goes into individual pockets. (Remember 'fa wo to begye Golf'?). We are reliving it all over again. The simple but sad truth about Ghana's economic condition is that at the moment we are not receiving any revenues from our exports, not even oil, the borrowed money is nowhere to be found and there is no financial planning. Soon enough, government is going to find it very hard to pay workers. So, for the Minister of Finance to assert that government is working to achieve its deficit target, however difficult, is not only disingenuous and false, but an attempt to cover up the wild, rampant corruption within the government. All this coming from a political party that prides itself of the principles of accountability, transparency and probity!!! Ghanaians, we are in for another long, bumpy ride.

Dear Mr.Baako, there are times when one must admit the goddam helly truth. You claim that the 8-months long useless petition case did not hinder Ghana's economic growth. Precisely, you assertd that Ghana's fisico-economic problems preceded the petition battle. That's quite probable but the fact remains that at a moment when Ghana needed a stable, confirmed governance to pull the nation through an INTERNATIONAL, temporay economic depression striking even the pseudo-developed countries, the ulcerated loser decided to use all sorts of subterfuge to distabilise govermental projects. For 8 good(or rather bad) months, gov't was held a hostage, potential foreign & national investors were on the touch-line to venture. This, do admit it,Mr.Baako, contributed severely to Ghana's economic "depression" (if Ghana really suffers a depression as you seemingly affirm).

Ghanaians are a joke. One way of reducing government expendicture in to reduce the number of paliamentarians, many of them paid for doing nothing. By merging the districts, funds will be available for infrastructure and social developments. Also merge Ministries to release funds for the numerous ministers and deputy ministers into the local economy. Thirdly allow the MPs, principal secretsries, head of departments and government co-operations heads hire their own places and pay for water, gas, electricity, cars and the petrol for their cars. Even in the US the congressmen use their pay to rent appartments to do their jobs and US is much richer than Ghana.
We need a leader who is bold and wise to carry out very improtant change like those listed above and the local economy will improve dramatically.
The British left us with this old system which they don't use any more. We need to act now or keep quiet and stay in our misery with our visionless leaders.

It is an undeniable fact that many investors hesitated coming to invest in Ghana due to the SC petition. Ghana's economy is buoyed by direct foreign investment. When this is not forthcoming as a result of the petition, do we need the oracle of Kweku Baako to ascertain the contribution of the election to the decline of the economy? Baako must do away with his political lense in his analysis of issues before he loses his thin credibility gap.

Yeah, yeah Mr know it all. How can a so-called learned man like you spew such nonsense in international media? Can you honestly say that 8 months of severely reduced productivity when people were glued to the TVs instead of working cannot be attributed as a cause to economic decline? Can you say that when foreign investors were jittery about the potential outcome of the SC hearing, to the extent that the US embassy and the British High Commission were warning their citizens to leave Ghana could not have affected the economy? Have you any idea how much Foreign investment contributes to our economy? Or do you think if Kweku Baako never stopped buying his kooko in the mornings then that was enough to keep the economy performing at its best? What about the government officials who couldn't execute their duties without fear because one man decided to hold the entire country to ransom because of some bloated desire to rule Ghana at all costs? Come on Kweku you can do better than this. Learn to call a spade a spade and don't allow yourself to be blinded by political persuasions. We understand that your pride is hurt because many of your predictions (maybe I should say wishes) about the SC hearing woefully failed to materialise. But hey, peddling more falsehood will sink you even further. Every economist who is worth his salt indeed warned that the hearing would have negative repercussions on the economy of Ghana unless that economist is called Kweku Baako. Maybe this should serve as a reminder for you to limit yourself to areas that you have been trained - edit news and leave others who are more qualified to decide whether or not the SC hearing affected the economy.
