Now, if you were to open a textbook from years ago, you would have found that natural resources in abundance are a source of growth and wealth for
developing countries, or so it was supposed. Why not?
If you have oil, if you have diamonds, if you have gold and copper, can't these be used to help develop the country?
But if you turn to contemporary textbooks, the first chapter is liable to be about the resource curse, meaning that the revenues from foreign
investment in oil and gas and coal and copper get siphoned off in corruption. billions of dollars are siphoned off every year into THE private pockets of these so called DEMOCRATIC LEADERS.
WHAT A SHAME! There is a lack of transparency. There is a lack of accountability.
if you look at Chile, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, these are
countries that have been very successful in using their rich resources TO DEVELOP THEIR NATION. WHY CANT GHANAIAN GOVTS LEARN FROM THEM?
So the question is, how can resources be used to benefit broad economic and social development and avoid the corruption and authoritarian rule?
The key issue is always going to be the local population, the local leadership, the local press, and NGOs, non-governmental authorities that try
to promote openness and transparency. In 2010-2011, Ghana started to export significant quantities of oil.
Is this going to be the best thing that ever happened to Ghana or the worst thing that ever happened to Ghana?
The phenomenon called "Dutch Disease" is also part of the resource curse. THIS means that the exchange rate for the currency of
resource-rich countries becomes overvalued, and this hurts the exports of other industries.

Nkrumah did not need to have State Owned Enterprises but rather a private involvement in employment and industries. SOEs have largely been unsuccessful in many parts of the world. Why do Cubans risk swimming to the USA. Why do North Koreans and Chinese try to flee the country. Why did Nkrumahists not decide to live in North Korea and China but in the West. Why do the so called socialists in Ghana prefer to live in the West where there is no dictatorship but enough freedom? Your answers will show if Nkrumah was a dictator or not.

Greed and the apparent lack of committment and hard-work are killing us. We are intelligent, but fail to use this intelligence in a positive way. Instead, intelligence is used to cheat people and do bad things. The most highly qualified/ educated immigrants in western world are Africans, but look at the state of our countries. Most of us need to change our attitudes and work together to improve conditions in our countries, so that people will not be forced to take desperate measures in order to enter other countries.

Boat accident on the coast of Italy that has so far claimed 130 lives is a sad story indeed, may their souls rest in perfect peace.
Reasons as to why, people would engage in such a perilous journey might be many but the underlining factor is Poverty.
The hope and believe that Europe and the United State of America create the congenial environment for a prosperous future drives people to embark on unsafe trips such as this.
But is this hope and believe Real.
I have had the opportunity to travel abroad and to be honesty with you the answer is YES even though it is not easy.
I wish not to use this medium to raise the aspiration of young men and women to travel for I also believe strongly that with determination, strategic plan and supports from family and friends (let me say associates) you can still make it regards of where you find yourself.
It is evident also that we do not have visionary leaders, to be sincere with you if citizens of the United States of America for example where those killed in this boast tragedy the Country would ask it leaders why this: Responsible leaders would resign, proper investigation would be conducted, Help would be given to the survivors and measures would be taking so that this would not happen again.
Reflection they say is looking in so you can look out with a broader, bigger, and more accurate perspective, as a country let us reflect on this incident let as form an unbreakable union even in the mist of our sorrow and let learn lessons from it.

It is an indictment on successive governments who have failed the people with their corruption and bad governance. We have to sit up as a nation and a people and commit ourselves to developing this country and turning the cycle of poverty around.

What use is"verifying reports" do to bring these innocent Ghanaians back, knowing well that they died because of you politicians. They were flying unbearable hardship in Ghana which is such that, even though they knew the risks of such journey yet they knew it is worth taking than being in Ghana. As I have been praying, a hardened terror group will one day sprang up and target only our leaders.
