Now, if you were to open a textbook from years ago, you would have found that natural resources in abundance are a source of growth and wealth for
developing countries, or so it was supposed. Why not?
If you have oil, if you have diamonds, if you have gold and copper, can't these be used to help develop the country?
But if you turn to contemporary textbooks, the first chapter is liable to be about the resource curse, meaning that the revenues from foreign
investment in oil and gas and coal and copper get siphoned off in corruption. billions of dollars are siphoned off every year into THE private pockets of these so called DEMOCRATIC LEADERS.
WHAT A SHAME! There is a lack of transparency. There is a lack of accountability.
if you look at Chile, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, these are
countries that have been very successful in using their rich resources TO DEVELOP THEIR NATION. WHY CANT GHANAIAN GOVTS LEARN FROM THEM?
So the question is, how can resources be used to benefit broad economic and social development and avoid the corruption and authoritarian rule?
The key issue is always going to be the local population, the local leadership, the local press, and NGOs, non-governmental authorities that try
to promote openness and transparency. In 2010-2011, Ghana started to export significant quantities of oil.
Is this going to be the best thing that ever happened to Ghana or the worst thing that ever happened to Ghana?
The phenomenon called "Dutch Disease" is also part of the resource curse. THIS means that the exchange rate for the currency of
resource-rich countries becomes overvalued, and this hurts the exports of other industries.
WHAT THIS NDC GOVT IS DOING IS THIS. THEY HAVE DEVALUED THE CURRENCY, EXPORTING MORE OIL, RESOURCES AND STEALING THE MONIES INTO THEIR PRIVATE BANK ACCOUNTS.

CPP does not believe in the "propertied thievocracy" of the NPP, whereby the NPP's goal was the complete thievery of state property - a principle they have not given up, as evidenced by Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey's determined effort to own the state residence he was assigned as a former Minister. No, CPP is instead guided by the Osagyefo's supreme love for this country and its people and their welfare. Our policies and goals put the welfare of the people first. There is no room for private benefit. That's why the Osagyefo did not own a single house in Ghana! He spent his time and effort building housing estates, schools, hospitals, factories and enterprises etc for ALL the people. He was about giving all the people a chance.

I was educated, thanks to the CPP education policy which most of the politicians, including Mahama, benefited from! Without this policy, my struggling family would never have been able to afford school fees. CPP's ideas and policies made sense in the 60's, and they make still make sense today.

To celebrate their 7th anniversary, a man and his wife spend the weekend at an exclusive golf resort in Aburi Mountains. He is a pretty good golfer, but she only just started. When they head down to the golf course after a lavish lunch and a bottle of champagne, they notice a beautiful mansion a couple of hundred yards behind the first hole.

"Let's be extra careful, honey," the husband says, "If we damage that house over there, it'll cost us a fortune."

The wife nods, tees off and - bang! - sends the ball right through the window of the mansion.

"Jesus Christ," the husband says. "I told you to watch out for that house. Alright, let's go up there, apologize and see what the damage is."

They walk up to the house and knock on the door.

"Come on in," a voice in the house says.

The couple open the door and enter the foyer. The living room is a mess. There are pieces of glass all over the floor and a broken bottle near the window. A man sits on the couch.

When the couple enter the room, he gets up and says, "Are you the guys who just broke my window?"
"Um, yeah," the husband replies, "sorry about that."

"Not at all, it's me who has to thank you. I'm a dwarf and was trapped in that bottle for a thousand years. You've just released me. To show my gratitude, I'm allowed to grant each of you a wish. But - I'll require one favor in return."

"Really? That's great!" the husband says. "I want a million dollars a year for the rest of my life."

"No problem - that's the least I can do. And you, what do you want?" the dwarf asks, looking at the wife.

"I want a house in every country of the world," the wife says.

The dwarf smiles. "Consider it done."

"And what's this favor we must grant in return, dwarf?" the husband asks.

"Well, since I've been trapped in that stupid bottle for the last thousand years, I haven't had sex with a woman for a very long time. My wish is to sleep with your wife."

The husband scratches his head, looks at the wife and says, "Well, we did get a lot of money and all these houses, honey. So I guess I'm fine if it's alright with you."

The dwarf and the wife disappear in a room upstairs and make love for an hour, while the husband stays in the living room.

When they are done, the dwarf rolls over, looks at the wife and asks, "How old exactly is your husband?"
