There might not be any player in the local league worthy of Blackstar invitation but is this the language a Minister should use to describe our local league and Players at a time when we are trying to get fans into the stadiums so that the teams can pay the Players a living salaries instead of the players leavi ng in droves to play in India and Vietnam?

Is Yamin saying we don't even have a goalkeeper who is bettee than the 40 something Kingston who has conceded 6 goals in three matches in a Cyprus league not better than Ghana league?

for me I think Yammin is right. Some year ago Jones Attuquayefio used Accra Hearts of Oak as national team. Why can't Kwasi Appiah pick 2 or 3 defenders from the SAME LOCAL TEAM to bridge the gap?

The local league can be strong if the Ghanaian fan is willing to pay for tickets to go and fill the stadium. If the stadiums are empty except for Kotoko v. Hearts of Oak then what kind of league is it? Payment to players will be low and once the player blossoms they are off to Europe, South Africa or the Middle East. Ghanaian fans are not willing to or cannot pay what is needed to support a top league. The average Ghanaian is going to watch the game at a chop bar and if it is not on they will watch Barclays Premier League instead. The minister cannot be blamed. This is a function of the society. The league should be such that a Ghanaian coming to Ghana to visit would be anxious to buy a ticket to go to one of the games. Does that happen? No. The average Ghanaian from outside who loves football and has money to spend is not even thinking of spending on a local game!!

Now, if you were to open a textbook from years ago, you would have found
that natural resources in abundance are a source of growth and wealth for
developing countries, or so it was supposed.
Why not?
If you have oil, if you have diamonds, if you have gold and copper, can't
these be used to help develop the country?
But if you turn to contemporary textbooks, the first chapter is liable
to be about the resource curse, meaning that the revenues from foreign
investment in oil and gas and coal and copper get siphoned off in corruption.
billions of dollars are siphoned off every year into private pockets of these so called DEMOCRATIC LEADERS.
WHAT A SHAME! There is a lack of transparency. There is a lack of accountability.
if you look at Chile, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia, these are
countries that have been very successful in using their rich resources.WHY CANT GHANAIAN GOVTS LEARN FROM THEM?
So the question is, how can resources be used to benefit broad economic and
social development and avoid the corruption and authoritarian rule?
The key issue is always going to be the local population, the local
leadership, the local press, and NGOs, non-governmental authorities that try
to promote openness and transparency.
In 2010-2011, Ghana started to export significant quantities of oil.
Is this going to be the best thing that ever happened to Ghana or the
worst thing that ever happened to Ghana?
The phenomenon called "Dutch Disease" is also part of the
resource curse, which means that the exchange rate for the currency of
resource-rich countries becomes overvalued, and this hurts the exports
of other industries. WHAT THIS NDC GOVTIS DOING IS THIS. THEY HAVE DEVALUED THE CURRENCY, EXPORTING MORE AND STEALING THE MONIES INTO THEIR PRIVATE BANK ACCOUNTS.
