Oh Ghana, where did we go wrong? Listen to this toy boy. "For instance, everybody knows that when we borrowed 3 billion dollars from the China development bank, we pumped a significant number of it into the construction of a gas processing plant in Western region,” he argued
Hollow propaganda argument as usual with no substance. As deputy information minister you should have facts and figures to back your argument. How mush exactly was allocated to this project? What was the initial busget for this project? What are the factors causing over spend on the project? If so much of the $3b was pumped into the gas project how come the project has now stalled due to lack of funds? How come lack of $600m has stalled the project?
Any idiot can argue they way you just did Mr deputy Info minister, but only the competent ones make sensible analytical arguments. Useless waste of tax payers money.

Gh.C 35B?
What do we have to show for it?
Now increased electricity and water tariffs to be paid by the ordinary Ghanaian!

The problem with governance in Ghana is that people just talk nothingness. Here is a deputy Information Minister, rebutting attacks by the opposition and what substantive information has he provided? Nothing.
Why are we borrowing? Are the loans for investment or consumption? Are the projects we are spending on self-financing? What benefits will accrue to the country? These are the substantive issues which we spend unfathomable amount of time missing. Ghana is in peril but are we sincere enough to admit it?
We all know that only a small percentage of the CBD loan has been accessed. Yet we have managed to increase national debt from GHS9.5 bn to above GHS 40 bn in about 5 years. certainly we should be able to point to something to say look we spent on A, B and C. If we are having difficulty doing this, then it can be said with absolute certainty that the monies have been wasted.

Tweakai. Borrowing for borrowing sake all in the name of how irresponsible this reckless government is. Our national debt since Nkrumah to Kufuor's time, was $9 billion. Since NDC under Mills came to power, they have ballooned the national debt to $43 billion and this is okay to those who are foolish to understand what is down the road.

When oh when will NDC start appointing competency rather than mere incompetent loud mouthed party faithfuls?

Like companies, governments and individuals borrow money to invest in activities for future returns. Such returns go to offset the amount borrowed at certain times with added benefits. In the case of this government we are told that the amount that it has borrowed was being used to create infrastructural projects and training. The reward from this, realistically, will go far to offset the original outlay in the long term with added social benefits. In this regard, it is as very necessary that the parliamentary opposition party backs the government and not downplays or frustrates its efforts as it has been doing now. Politicisation of such important matters is making Ghana lacking behind worryingly in economic development.

The opposition are afrais to back this govt becuse if they do, they will be guilty of encouraging this govt to mismanage the coutries resources. Trust me if we were seeing any development or projects springing up, there would less agitation from the public. We borrowed and used it for 2012 campaign, now fast forward to 2013, campaign over coffers empty. That is the real situation.

I wish to remind NDC about one saying which has dominated the political discourse during the nineties and early twenties. It is that we dont eat projects. As long as the citizens pay taxes, they expect development projects to be delivered by governments. The key thing expected from governments is the ideas (soft copy)which will alleviate the suffering of the people. Governments's ability to come out with ideas which when implemented will cause relief for the people is what the citizens require. The various social interventions like NHIS are what the people need.

The major problem of the people in Ghana today is only to eat and never think of development. They believe in put the food on the table for us to eat and go to toilet, so that we suffer later. It is the same way our ex president Nkrumah was disturbed with accusations of this kind in the sixties by the UP led by Busia.
It happened when Nkrumah put much money in the constructing of Tema Township, the motorway, Akosombo, the only power house that today we can say we are proud to have. My joy of the statement coming from the junior minister is that his government's borrowing is a thing to appreciate because the 3 billion dollars borrowed from China, a significant number of it had been pumped into the construction of gas processing plant in the Western region.
Why are we not learning from the past experiences of mistakes. Today we are proud to say Akosombo supported us when electricity became a big problem. The area I want our people, and the hypocrites of the NPP to be aware is that money can be borrowed, and generally nothing wrong about borrowing, but what makes it a big problem is what that money is used for.
We hear from the minister that the greater part of the money borrowed is invested into the needed GAS plant project. Today many Ghanaians do not know nor understand what GAS PLANT actually means to our national economy.
The gas plant could help Ghana to generate electricity which hopefully in the future will help us pay little of our salaries into electricity bills. The opposition party NPP will wickedly never explain the greater benefits that could come from the gas plant project.
Just like the benefits we get from today's Tema Township and the industries there, the motorway, Akosombo etc after they UP, PP, PFP, NPP had wrongfully, wickedly, selfishly and intentionally opposed Kwame Nkrumah. Thank God Nkrumah was stronger than their selfish mentalities.
Let us be real with our people who do not have good idea about good governmental projects which will generally benefit us all. Misleading our people with wicked political agenda will never help us. People in politics should be genuine to help the people, and do away with political hatred and tribal bigutry which will only send all of us into economical pit.
Oh Ghana, where did we go wrong? Listen to this toy boy. "For instance, everybody knows that when we borrowed 3 billion dollars from the China development bank, we pumped a significant number of it into the construction of a ...
