I think the most important part of your article is the fact that people need to go home often. What happens is that people sit in the US, UK, Canada, Netherlands, etc... and start to romanticize how they will go back to Ghana and end up in a cozy government position with benefits. Once people realize that is not how it works, they will focus more on how to just set up their own business in Ghana. Politics is not the way to go. It is really about private enterprise.

It is very difficult to change the minds of people who are "politically addicted", for political disagreement is almost considered "value laden" and hence it is just not conceivable for some folks to consider the state as the point of reference. Most unfortunate is when these politically addictive attitudes are shown by folks like Okoampa Ahoofe who is into academia. We can only hope that an appreciation of the State as a different entity from governments will lead us all to consider the issues that affect the 'whole' as a concern than what is done satisfies units within and without.
NB: The Diaspora Support Unit is within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is now located at Airport Junction. Thanks

Kwesi,
Are you one of Atopa's apologists and so writing to get a job? Twea! Go read about the Judgement Debt payments and you'll know the type of political leadership we have had so far in Sikaman.

In fact a patriotic and die hard diasporan will go back to Ghana without fear or favour to help in nation building.Although,it takes time and sometimes financial to adjust but if one really want to settle and help in nation building, that person can succeed in doing that.President Nkrumah,Kuffour,Dr limann,Dr Mahamah are some of the prominent Ghanaians who decided after their western education to go back, settled and help in nation building. If you have the right profession ,go back and help. You can succeed with determination, hard working and dedication .As a Ghanaian, don,t sit down for a politician who is also a Ghanaian like you to travel Abroad and tell you what you should do.

HOLLAND DIASPORANS have a lot to bring to the TABLE but both NDC and NPP have missed opportunity.

Now that he is on solid footing, the recommendations have been swept under the notorious Ghanaian political rug. The politicians will begin making noise about constitutional review come 2016.

Which sage will use a nation's US$ 10.000 to buy a gold chain for self-award? Have we forgotten about Hotel Kuffour so soon? Award of 1Million US$ contract to his son Ewarda Kuffour etc.
What of the other man (Akuffo-Addo) who could not tell us where he got his law degree from - sometimes he says Legon (where he actually did Econs), other times he quotes Middle Temple. The man who beyond doubt used someones certs to get admission to Middle Temple and later built upon that, could be a sage in Ghana?
With Okunini Dr Aggrey, Dr Osagyefo "Ose-Ade-Oyo" Kwame Nkrumah and Mr Busumuru Kofi Annan, they are honest and impeccable Ghanaians we are all proud of.
