He needs no introduction or marketing because he is the most well known political face in Ghana. Again, though beating the incumbent will not be easy, if Mahama fails to deliver on his promises, any candidate, let alone formidable Nana Akufo-Addo will have a good chance of winning the presidency in 2016.

However, I disagree with Sir John's comparison with Robert Mugagbe and Shimon Peres. Peres is only a ceremonial president and not an Executive one. Mugabe is in a league of his own and he would not have survived under Ghana's democracy.

ADABRAKA, Nana Akufo-Addo against President Mahama in 2016 will not be cold chop. It will be fiercely contested. Remember, the difference between the two in 2012 was very small. If Mahama fails to deliver he would be a one-term president.

Akuffo Addo is just a misunderstood man but not pompous as you allude to. I know him to be very strict and honest and that some people within the NPP and NDC do not like him. Is it also not true that Jerry is not liked by some people within the party he is said to have FOUNDED? In all honesty, so many people within his party will not have their way if he becomes the Prez. He will not yield to the arbitrary demands of MPs as Mahama did with that arbitrary increase in their salaries and allowances. Akuffo Addo with his hard stand on some issues when they are contrary to expectations and interests of the state will affect the support he can get even from his party parliamentarians. I have known him at his family house as a no nonsense man and say his mind as it should be just like Jerry does sometimes. He should not stand because the corrupt MPs will pull him down.

Israel does not have the executive presidential system like Ghana,the role of the president is purely ceremonial. The prime minister runs everything including policies,home and abroad. Nana will be in his 70s come 2016 and he consider spending time with his grand children. My happiest moments in life were the day times I spent with my poppy and nana and both sides.

The inside Asanti/Akyem power struggle may be the only major hindrance - he may not get the needed support from the Ashantis which was one of the causes of his first two failures.

Ghanaians are looking at Nana with a new and favorable lens as a reputable Statesman to lead the Republic, if Nana himself can muster the courage to try the third time.

However, Nana running in 2016 will be great news for the NDC as it will make their job easy to retain power. Nana's margin of defeat can only get bigger.
