Manny, has it occurred to you that it is odd for the Presiding Bishop to shy away from the word JUSTICE? Any preacher who preaches on the same topic day after day is not worth his position! Prof should realise that he can help instil peace in the people if he is seen to be non-partisan. But the way he has behaved himself this past year suggests to many that he is not being fair to his followers, which consists of both NDC and NPP supporters. The NDC are calling for PEACE and the NPP are calling for JUSTICE, so the mediator should have been calling for PEACE & JUSTICE and JUSTICE & PEACE in order to have been seen to be supporting both factions of his congregation or none at all. His refusal to mention the [God-forsaken] word JUSTICE is not doing his image any good. The sooner he retracted his steps, the better, because whether or not he supports people seeking for justice, justice will be done one day, and he must realise he would not be seen to have been part of the peace that will follow the justice so achieved.

Methodist Member, the premise of your comment suggests that Rev Asante is anti justice. I beg to differ if that is what you're implying.. Rev Asante and his team in the NPC have been exceptionally deligent and fair. They've worked both on and off radar with all stakeholders in addressing the relevant issues of peace in the country. This has in the last 9 months included advocating for aggrieved parties to push for a peaceful judicial review as against incitement and taking up arms in the street. The notion that he's unwilling to include justice in his mantra is a falsehood pedalled by those who think that justice can only be served if it favours them. On your last point, I'm absolutely certain that posterity would include him and the NPC efforts along those of the other groups such as IDEG and NCCE.

Peace without justice is a mirage that will never be realised. Preachers prefer this because it is the most potent weapon for taming people who like to hope whilst the realists enjoy. Colonisers successfully used it. We kept hoping whilst they pillaged our wealth to make their continents and their people real happy people. The preachers, especially African preachers, and politicians are employing similar tactics on their people.
Oh who is there to stand up and be used by Almighty to deliver the people from illusion?

They r even calling for Kofi Annan to be made EC chairman after this but he will suffer same if things do not go their way.

Shamu, within the context of the 2012 election debarcle, peace can be defined as the normal freedom from civil commotion and violence of a community; public order and security.Corruption and injustice indeed creates anguish and strife which needs to be aggressively tackled as part of our societal development. It is the duty of the SC however to determine justice; and we await their verdict on the 29th. Tackling corruption however, is a continuos improvement process and starts with you and I.By the way, peace strives in an environment of mutual respect. Insulting well meaning pastors and leaders serves no interest.

Manny, within the context of the 2012 debacle, what is required is justice. I believe if all parties had accepted that the election results were fair and justice, there would have been no petition and there would have been no cause for the Peace Council to come out and preach about peace in the face of the decision yet to come. Let us be fair to ourselves and to our nation. Let our leaders do what is right and there would be no cause of concern for the peace we have taken for granted all these years. Freedom and Justice is the foundation on which our nation was built, and peace followed. So let the justices deliver justice and we will all live in peace.

Prof Asante, thanks for your words of wisdom. However I wish to direct your attention to the SC judges rather than the politicians or ordinary Ghanaians. It is not only the words of our foulmouthed politicians which would send this country to war. The verdict of the SC could also plunge the country into chaos. If the judges at the SC do not come out with a verdict based on our constitution, electoral laws and regulations and base their judgement on anything else, we all stand the risk of the country catching fire. The only thing that can save the country is nothing but the absolute truth. I can put my head on the block to say that if the judges come out with a verdict based on the law and the truth nobody can cause any mayhem.
Prof, we therefore entreat you to use your good offices to admonish the judges to eschew all tribal, political, ethnic, financial and any other non legal consideration especially the often abused word of " Enye hwee fama Nyame" in pronouncing their judgement. If the judges can assure all of us that they are going to stand by the law, the truth and the well being of our democracy, when pronouncing their judgement , everybody could go home and sleep because nothing untoward would happen to the country.

Prof, why are you afraid to just say that word and be free? Or you do not get it, still? Threre is no peace without that holy word: JUSTICE. And if you cannot just say that word, you may as well keep your peace and let us fight for our justice.
The crest for our nation says FREEDOM AND JUSTICE. Who wants peace without justice? The holy book talks a lot about justice. In AMOS (or somewhere close) God spurns our peace offerings in the absence of justice. Because there can be justice without peace, but there can never be peace if there is no jusrtice.
Please stop disgracing us and come out and embrace JUSTICE before you speak of peace, peace. One would have expected that you would listen to the voices of your congregation and lead us in the fight against the injustice in our system. We are all watching your every step. Stand up and make us proud again. Enough of those worthless pronouncements, Prof.
