Even in the major cities of Ghana: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale etc you will find all manner of livestock free-ranging and sometimes taking over the streets to the displeasure of road users. The villages along the major and rural roads are even worst offenders. Sometime back, the city/town authorities used to capture these animals and their owners made to pay a fine before they were released to them. Can't we revisit that era. This could be an important source of income for the District/Municipal Assemblies, while at the same time reducing these accidents on our roads

In Ghana, they don't SPEED!!! They OVERSPEED!! Sometimes I just don't know how they get away with it. On the Accra - Legon - Madina road, the TROTROs appear to be testing their speeds AND - they get away with it.

I don't know what kind of American is in you.
"The American" in you does not mean you can drive just like that, without any regard for other road users, whether it be chicken or human beings.
You cannot just run over peoples pets such as dogs or cats, just because they run into the road across your driving path. "They will sue your ass". You know what I mean.
In America, the roads in towns and cities are very clearly marked.
In populated areas, it ranges from between 25 and 40 miles, depending on how populated it is. On the highways, it is about 55 miles upwards.

This is a very tragic accident, and an very avoidable one.
We should not blame it on the goat, but on the driver of the Benz Bus.
If the Benz Bus driver is not dead yet, he must be arrested and charged with Reckless driving and endangerment, along with Man-slaughter.
In Ghana, some driver drive in towns and populated areas like thy are driving on highways, driving at top speeds, with complete disregard for people and property.
There is no justification for this accident, whether it be a goat or human.
Unfortunately it seem like there are no laws regulating speeding in Ghana.
The laws re just there for nothing. They are not being enforced.
How many speed limit signs do we have on our roads? Very very, few, and even those, are not enforced.
If action is not taken, these avoidable accidents and nonsense will continue to happen frequently.
Rest in peace, the unfortunate victims. My sympathy goes to their families.

Oh Mother Ghana! RIP to those who passed away thru' this tragic accident. I thought our roads (other than the 'highways') are all in such bad shape that drivers couldn't travel at the speed described in this news report. RIP
