The opening paragraph states, “I came to serve; I have finished my time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest and celestial duties with my heavenly father.”

The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?

He was compelled to apologise after that attack. It's good he has learnt his lesson from that childish behaviour. I am not saying he was wrong to criticise the decision but to call the Justices cowards was below the belt.

I wonder how genuine is his new found crusade to defend the SC Justices as some people are alluding to that this is a cover up. I read Adofo's article on Sunday and that was the first time I became aware of such allegation against the Justices. Adofo is an NPP fundamentalist on this forum and I would not be surprised if the bribery accusation against the SC Justices is from within the NPP and NDC because once one of the two begins to peddle falsehood, the other will do the same. I hope Gabby is genuine and a converted crusader to protect the integrity of the SC Justices.

The first and second time I heard about the score on the judges came from an NPP organizer way back in May and in July. You they simply assume that those akans will vote decides for Akuffo Addo and the non-akans will vote for Mahama and few others not quite sure. No one should deceive himself, this case is about applying the spirit and the later of the elections laws and the judges going down in history as having stood up for Ghana. I don't see any judge reneging on that whether NDC sympathizer judge or NPP sympathizer judge.

I hope that serious minded Ghanaians will digest your astute observation: justice is not what any individual wants or a particular political party wishes but what the court dispenses. Thus, the morons in NDC and NPP who are reading the miens of General Mosquito and Sir John for direction, ought to put on their thinking caps, and recognize that; the supreme court is the only game in town on this election matter. And, no amount of denigration of the nine justices (individually or collectively)will distract them from dispensing justice. So, if we cannot dissuade or influence the justices, then let us cheer them on: go supreme court, go! My prayer and song is that, Atuguba and company, will move the ship of justice full steam ahead, because we (Ghanaians home and abroad)have got their back.

In the developed jurisdiction, judges are often criticised in the press but they are only punished for contempt for "SCANDALISING THE COURT".
It is always said that, contempt which is SCURRILOUS ABUSE must be distinguished from the concerned with publications likely to interfere with administration of justice in particular proceedings which may influence juries.
In the R v. Gray (1900) proceeding were taken against the editor of the Birmingham Daily Argus for a spirited attack on Darling J.
The editor apologised and was fined £100, with £ 25 cost.
Press criticism of the judiciary has become more commonplace without matching the personal insults expressed by Gray.
In another landmark case R v. Metropolitan Police Commissioner ex p. Blackburn (1968).
Proceeding against Q Hogg (who subsequently became Lord Chancellor) arising out of criticism of the court of Appeal were dismissed.
Salmon L.J. said,
"The authority and reputation of our courts are not so frail that their judgements need to be shielded from criticism, even from criticism of Mr Q. HOGG. No criticism of a judgement however vigorous, can amount to contempt of court, provided it keeps within the limits of REASONABLE COUTESY AND GOOD FAITH.
Our judges should know that, they are from time to time rebuked. What we want to know from them is, are they now suffering JUDGE'S DISEASE, that is to say a condition of which the symptoms may be pomposity, irritability, talkativeness, proneness to orbiter dicta.
Is a norm that, there may be complaints from barristers or litigants either express in court or in private to the judge personally or made in some other quarter.
Therefore, if Sir John was supposedilly in the eyes of the public criticised a judge, he as a lawyer might have been criticising the defects of the law been applied by the panel against the petitioners.

Needless to echo Gabby's candid sentiments, the Judges must be accorded all the respect they copiously deserve! I know they are ignoring all these rumours flying around. They are above such squabbling. They will execute utter justice premised on the law enshrined in the Constitution not according to definition of any of us, outside them.

They must be left alone to think through the case for mother Ghana! They won't disappoint!

I did say on this forum somehow past that, there's too much of "they say,they say" in Ghana.That's not the case in the advanced host Countries that we live.They have excellent media,both electronic,Tv and eye withness accounts.They give a detailed comprehensive and researched accounts on every little bit of news.But in Ghana the media also writes "they say,they said".So it behold on the Ghana Media to Change from "they said"to researched,comprehensive,detailed reports.That's the only way to curtail or minimize rumour mongering.

Actually,Npp has just a very little interest in their case going by the essential logic of Lawyer Phillip Addison's resignation oral address.Addison stated that all petitioners in Africa have failed.Intelligently,Addison gave names of countries where election petitioners have failed.Addison stated clearly that the NPP petitioners are asking the SC to do what no other African country has done.Finally,Addison pleaded for soft landing,the SC must satisfy the losers.Addison annoyed the judges by his threat when he said if the losers are not satisfied they may resort to chaos.This is a very useless statement because all the countries Addison mentioned did not create violence after the verdict.The losers accepted the verdict without any excuse.Therefore,Addison is showing highest degree of dishonesty here.The truth is that all the failed petitioners accepted the verdict unconditionally.Why is Addison asking for soft landing now?Thank you.
