And he shouldn't forget that we were able to force an inhuman,brutal and barbaric dictatorship to return the country to the semblance of a democracy that we have at the moment, without firing a gunshot.

In fact there are days I am inclined to believe that he has some mental challenge. Let all who care try to get the voice clip of this NPP buffoon and you will be disgusted. This man spike as if he was sitting under a palm tree and drinking its wine thereof and possibly drunk. He really went to town attacking the personality of a justice Atuguba and really nicking the general public, especially the NPP supporters against the SC judges. The NPP comes to power and jail NDC members, but when the NDC comes to power, even though they know the NPP people committed worse offenses than them, they are afraid to put even one of them in jail.

It would be a bad precedence if Sir John is treated with kids gloves whilst others were treated with Muhammed Ali's gloves. We are now in a new era therefore things must be done without fear or favor.

Is Chris Ackumey now a homosexual? Does he sleep with Sir John? How did he know such an incorrigible old man is having sleepless nights? Did Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie not know the consequences of those utterances? Are we trying to elevate such a person above the law?

The wheels of justice may grind slowly, but it grinds fine! Perhaps, someone ought to play back to Sir John, his own words after Dr. Brobbey apologized to the NPP!

These pleas for mercy can only make sense if the suspect in question were to be no other person than a lawyer! Even in that case, it also had to be BEFORE the final warning by the Supreme Court!

It seems some people are hell-bent on taking the Supreme Court for a ride! Sir John's utterances have been outrageous enough for him to languish in jail for an eternity! The court should only pardon him if he can prove that he is not of 18 years old, or of a sound mind!

Ghana needs peace! And we would be playing with fire if we show leniency to political arsonists like this man who ought to have known better! He needs a long prison sentence for him to calm down and meditate on his own stupidity and learn the appropriate lessons!

Long live Ghana!

Paul, I was against the jailing of Ken Kuranchie because he was a journalist and the the fact that he did not receive a fair trial. I also do not believe that because someone was jailed others should receive the punishment, though I now accept that the incarceration of Ken Kuranchie has brought sanity within the political discourse, especially, the Ghanaian media.

Though I would not wish Sir John to receive similar punishment, I just cannot understand why he made those statements attributed to him. First, he is a lawyer and should have known better and set a good example. Second, he is no ordinary person in Ghana but the General Secretary of the main opposition party in Ghana. The party that has petitioned the SC and third, by his position, he has direct interest in the case before the SC. For him to use abusive language on the Presiding Justice is unpardonable. For these reasons, I have no sympathy for him.

I happen to believe that the supreme court is within its powers to summon these chaps before it and to act (not an eye for an eye) but to ensure that everyone understands that the laws of the land have to be obeyed.

Tell me Kofi, can you ever imagine a court in the UK giving an order regarding contempt, punishing a few people for breaching the rule and still have others 'daring the court'? It smacks of arrogance and a certain primitive belief that somehow they can rise above the law.

This is typical especially of people who have 'tasted political power' and somehow think just because they could flout the law in office, they can continue to do so.

I read your impressions about the punishment meted out to Kuranchie and Atubiga. I personally didn't think it was harsh for the very reason that when Awuku was punished, it was a simple warning for all, but those chaps (NDC and NPP-supporters) chose to defy the court. Again, it was sheer arrogance and Kuranchie's behaviour in court was disrespectful of the bench, something I abhor.

I am not a lawyer but have served as a juror in England and have nothing but respect for the law. By all means we should be critical of how things are going, but fair, balanced and above all respectful of those who have been put there to do a job. Interference in their job plus creating a false impression to your supporters that you know better and that those qualified to do the job are not up to it and are taking wrong decisions is an insult to our very system of law and order.

Have you not noticed that the nonsense and chaff has stopped since these actions were started? Even the likes of Arthur Kennedy (who continues to betray his gross ignorance of the law) have fallen silent and Otchere-Darko has chosen to focus on other topics. Awuku has gone silent, and Stephen Atubiga, but for his stupid statement yesterday, is also learning from his mistakes.

It would be interesting to read what people will write after the verdict. I hope to write a number of full articles on some topics.

He knew exactly what he was doing thinking his position in the NPP make him bulletproof in front of the law. Besides, he is very arrogant and disrespectful to his own bosses in the justice system. This is not ignorance but an exhibition of folly in the middle of the ocean. He deserves to drown deep. I wish him to go down and learn a lesson.

I will plead with the SC Judges to give him the maximum or at least near maximum for contempt. This will surely make a big difference in Ghana's dirty politics, democracy and boost the morale of the justice system.

It is time people get to know the difference between freedom of speech, contempt of court and defamation/assassination of character.

I don't think Supreme Courts Judges are untouchables. The judge can go to Court seek redress for insinuations against him. He cant use the Bench to decide and jail somebody who speaks against him for being biased. He is supp ...

They impune the respect and integrity of the Supreme Court and later claim mercy from the SC....Please judges, cite this guy with contempt and jail him for a month. That will teach him and other copy-cats a lesson.
