Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1967 with a B.Sc in Economics. Nana trained as a lawyer in England and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Under President Kufuor, Nana served as the Attorney-General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the flagbearer of the party in the 2008 elections and was again elected in 2010 to be the flagbearer of the party in the upcoming 2012 elections.

It is not just a matter of meeting the requirements and getting approval.Will the National Accreditation Board be able to monitor them continuously?Recent development has shown that some of their Bsc Admin(accounting option) students go there without accounting background in SHS?Just imagine what will happen to our health care if they do the same with the Medical School?In the advance countries they have policies and institutions that monitor and regulate the performance of such universities.

The medical schools do not look at the country's needs and insists on only admitting 150 students This will take us ages to meet the country's requirement. They are just managers not visionary leaders. Cuba with population of 12 million produces 2,000 doctors in Havana alone yearly. Malaysia has population of 26 million and total no of Doctors 20,000. Ghana has population 24 million has 3,000 doctors. South Korea whom we compare ourself with has 80,000 doctors. US has 900,000 doctors with population 300 million. Dr Mensa Otabil is doing a good Job. The Deans resist increases of admission with minor reasons and always add so called quality and produce few doctors whose output will be poor because they are overwhelmed with numbers. We need someone who looks at the country's needs. Keep it up.
