This man chastised Government during Rawlings time claiming "we need to change the head, we need to change the head". Now, the head was changed and Kuffour came. This man vanished into oblivion.
Right after Mills comes to power, home boy is at it again. You see, this is the problem with you, Man of God. I'm sad there are people in Ghana today who do not see anything wrong with the kind of people we have as our leaders and where the country is heading. Sadly, when people who are capable of running their own organization and have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that they are very efficient in doing so are talking, others who can not do anything for themselves like Tony Aidoo, despite his level of education will come out and insult them; and there are supporters for this good for nothing politician and his friend. These supporters are part of the problem of Ghana. Leave such intelligent, wise and efficient people like Dr. Otabil and others (for they are also citizens of Ghana) to advice on our best we can get our nation back on a sound footing; and stop following fools - they are leading us into the abyss.

Nyansa, I agree with you that there is nothing wrong with what Otabil said but the problem is that, he is hiding behind the pulpit to do politics. I can tell you that there are millions of UK citizens who have no clue what the vision of the David Cameron/Nick Clegg government is. Yet, UK has more literate population than Ghana. He is attacking the Mahama government but gave examples from other African countries to pretend as if he is making a general statement or observation.
I am not suggesting that religious leaders should not criticise governments but if they decide to so they should be consistent. That is what democracy is about but not only do so one particular party is in government. That is unfair and wrong, especially, for a man of God. Here, religious leaders criticise government policies of both Labour and Conservative parties and not only when one of them is in government. That is selective politics. By their fruits we shall know them.

Sometimes, I wonder what sort of an educated person you are. You are one of the most bias authors on this forum. You want Mensah Otabil to stop talking about development, integrity, honesty and character because your partners-in-crime are in power destroying Ghana. What kinda of logic is that?
You used examples from UK to buttress your argument but those of us in USA know everything about "OBAMACARE" and his Immigration reforms. Fact is, unlike Ghana, anyone who wants to know about the policies of Cameron will definitely know about them. The fact that some don't care is not the point here.
This is not the first time, you have come here attacking Otabil on what he says. Instead of attacking him on his premise, you want to attack him just because he is pastor and believe he is on the side of NPP attacking your NDC masters. What kind of intellectual dishonesty is that?
I bet, if you have listened to the real message, Otabil will not only deal with Ghana but also Fathers who have no visions for their family. Managers or CEOs who have no vision for their employers. Pastors who have no vision for their followers, etc, etc
Radioxyonline and some of you NDC want to destroy this man just because he speaks truth to power. The last time, they wrote that Otabil say" Homosexuality is abomination," when we challenged others that Otabil just quoted from the Bible and did not say that, they REMOVED the posting from Ghanaweb without apologizing to the man.

Being anti-christian is not criminal since christians are anti-other religions. However that is not the case with the media. The media, like any human engagement which religion is part, has always being selective in what to emphasise based on interest.
This is usually normal when it happens outside religion simply because of our unwise and intolerant insistence that our religion is divine and others are not. Religion is not DIVINE but an IDEAL way of life to its follower; divinity is goodness and it is not a monopoly of any group of people.
Otabil's assertion must be liable to interpretation; even what he says is an interpretation of "the word of God". This interpretation has never been thesame to two interpreters.
Otabils congragation are part of society and their convictions affects the society. So even though he cannot force others to comply, they suffer when his congregation insist on his ideas in their interaction with society.

You are talking as if what he is referring to, started yesterday. Christ me, Nyansasem. You are in fact, one of the cyber-guys I sincerely do respect and give a whole load of credence in here. But, let’s face it, this clergy called Otabil is as bias as the coat of the word itself. Was he not around during the eight fiasco years of Kufuor’s administration? Hence, why didn't he preach his parable of the so-called "what does Ghana want to achieve in the next 10 years" then?
Here he his now working the faithful to his advantage with a clear and bias political undertone which a man of the lord of such calibre should always disdain from. More so in a very volatile region such as ours and in a country where the forgone 2012 presidential election is under scrutiny before the supreme bench. That, I believe is the concern of Kofi Ata and his spontaneous intake thereafter.

I responded to Amofa's post. And I gave the reason why your arguments are mute on why you did not hear from him or he did not say those things during JAK's time. But before then, I think it is disingenuous to accuse the pastor when we have only heard a part of his message. What if he dealt with the whole of leaderships; including Fathers, Managers/CEOs, Pastors, Government leaders, etc..?
--------
We have people who should not be given a primary schools to govern, let alone a country like Ghana. And yet, when anyone says anything, they come and attack him without using their brains. Is Otabil wrong for saying that we have not had visionary leaders? If yes, then why insult him. If no, then challenge him with facts. But just saying that he did not say that last 10 yrs or so is just dumb and silly.
Firstly, they did not know whether he said that during JAK's time or not. How many had tapes or recorders going to his church to take him and bringing it out? Or how many were coming to Ghanaweb to debate at that time?
Secondly, nothing stops him from saying that just because he has not said that before. Are they saying that he should not grow in wisdom or knowledge? The reason why Africa countries are not growing is because we never learn from our mistakes and grow from them. We can't and shouldn't reduce and restrict knowledge to place, time and space.
And lastly, the reason why we might not have heard Otabil saying all these things while NPP were in power was, unlike NDC media that are sycophants and paranoid about everything, NPP did not consider it as matter of importance to sneak into a church with tapes and recorders to record what a pastor has to say about Kufuor.
Do you see how silly their arguments are?

Nyansamsem or whatever you call yourself, intellectual dishonesty is when Otabil criticised Akufo Addo's Free Education policy because it is against his interest as someone who controls educational institutions but claimed he never criticised the policy when he was found out. Intellectual dishonesty is when Otabil claims something heavy is about to happen in Ghana so asked his congregation to pray so he can make more money through church collections, etc.
He can fool some of you but not me. I do criticise all those men of God who use the word of God for their own gains. I am not here to speak for any party or group. I speak for myself and if you think my views are bias that is your problem. You can follow Otabil and his cohorts blindly. That is your choice. I have the ability to analyse issues and come to my own conclusion rather than follow blindly.
Reread my comment because I never said Otabil cannot criticise. Otabil can quote from the Bible or God to support whatever he says but the very people who wrote the Bible may revise the Bible today if they were alive or come back to life. I am not in favour of same sex relationship but who am I to determine how someone should live his or her life or condemn them just because they just chose a different life style? Why should they be prosecuted or persecuted for their sexual orientation? As a person of Black African origin living in Europe, I will always fight for equality because I know how it feels to be discriminated against for whatever reason. Good luck with your Otabil.

Do we even really need to spend the time to argue this obvious fact that Pastors are not necessarily saintly. It is the Public that confers certain divine expectations on them. But we should never forget that they are all humans and most are deeply enshrouded in the Worldly stuff all of us are surrounded by.
What Authority bestowed the title of Pastor on them? Most of them simply went to train as Clergy not for the love of spreading the Lord's word, but for having easier access to the make a living. Only a few of these Pastors even attend a Seminary or any School of Divinity to earn the Pastoral robe.
We should not put them on a pedestal as some exemplary Citizens without much scrutiny of their services to their Congregation and the Society at large. On the whole, we should just see them as folks in a profession to earn living. It is their cumulative works that should earn them our respect as divinely inspired leaders.

Does the fact that he has said nothing means he should not talk about leadership in his lifetime? Or does he has to wait for NPP's turn before saying that?

I based my comments on what I have observed about Otabil's recent string of public utterances. You may know him personally and have more intimate reasons to refute my observations. However, you would be more infantile in refuting the basic truth about the bulk of our Clergies. In my life, what I hate are lies and propaganda to destroy people. They don't call it character assassination for nothing. Because people who can lie about you can literally put knife to your throat. That is what you are doing and that is why I call it intellectual dishonesty. You are bent on destroying a good man without any reason or facts.
Firstly, Otabil did not criticise Akufo's free education. As an educated person, you should have found out what, where, how and why he made those comments. By refusing to that and accepting it as a fact, you have become a liar. That message about good education was preached several years ago during Kufuor's era. The propagandists in NDC saw it fit to bring it back and used it against Akufo, as if Otabil was preaching against the free school; that is twisting someone's message and using it for your gain. That was the reason why Otabil was against it, because it was not meant for free education for high school. If you don't know anything about intellectual dishonesty, that was one.
Secondly, what are the functions of a pastor? What is so wrong for a pastor to stand before his followers in his OWN church and ask them to pray against any calamity that might come to destroy the land? You have resorted to lies and innuendos in your anti-Otabil bashing; where did you get the fact that by saying that they needed to pray for the Nation to get more money, Will you like it when I come here and I accuse you of writing your anti-NPP articles for money? In your lifetime, have you not waken up one morning and feel that something is not right and you need to take extra caution for certain things. That is intellectual dishonesty if you don't know it, Mr. Ata
Thirdly, because of your hatred for NPP and Otabil, you refuse to think through issues and search for facts, even though you claim otherwise. Just like you, when Otabil was asked about homosexuality, his respond was, they should search what the scriptures say about Homosexuality; his duty was to bring men to God and not to condemn them. Yet, the useless people at radioxyzonline reported that, Otabil says "homosexuality is detestable.." When it was challenged here that it was the Bible that said that and not Otabil, the whole article was removed from here but without any apology to Otabil. And for you to believe that and support that is intellectual dishonesty.
Like I said, several years ago, I was even young guy when I heard Otabil preaching on leadership. He used a National Bestseller by Stephen R.Covey- "The 7 habits of highly effective people." I went to buy that book and read it myself. That was over several years ago. I believe he will say nothing different from what he was saying it then. Unlike you who makes it your duty to search for anything about Akufo and NPP, I don't think Otabil wakes up and think of trying to preach something about NDC or Mills? I know for sure, he would touch on leadership in every area of life and fathers, mothers, pastors, managers, store owners and anyone who believes that good leadership will help them in their lives.
I have never met the man nor been to his church. And have never ever sent a dime to him. All that I have heard from is on youtube. But unlike you, I don't and can't paint all pastors with the same brush; I know a good one, when I hear one. After checking out the facts and finding out that radioxyzonline is out there to destroy a good man, I want you to write an apology to him. IIf you don't do that, it will smacks of intellectual dishonesty. And by the way, you should do us a favor and search for how many kids Mahama have as you did with Akufo's certificate.

Kofi Ata Cambridge. I call you by that epithet to ridicule your vainglorious streak in attaching what you presumably deem to be a prestigious achievement - your domicile in Cambridge. Why should you continue to persistently bore readers ad nauseum with this Cambridge appendage after your name as if it was some unequalled merit that has not been achieved before and which everyone should be forced to know about? I can almost certainly envision Ahoofe-Okoampa smirking with satisfaction at his clone.
If on the other hand you wish to promote the city of Cambridge for reluctantly harboring you, a Black man in their racist midst, I would have rather thought that, that effort should as a matter of precedence and appreciation, go to the country or city that gave birth to you and your predecessors – if only to show gratitude to your own species. This misdemeanor alone, on your part, evokes volumes of detestable presumptions about you and your mentality.
Related to this fact is the conundrum as to why people like you who quite often dont have the full facts surrounding such circumstances, conditions and issues prevailing here in Ghana, insist on engaging in spurious and left-footed arguments that only end up making you look ridiculous and obtuse.
If, as you falsely make it seem, you are keeping tabs on what is going on in Ghana, you would not, as a man of God, have accused Otabil of being dishonest about his alleged criticism of the NPP’s or Akuffo-Addo’s Free education policy. I would suggest to you to retrace your steps to find out exactly what happened as regards this matter, to avoid making yourself look like a fool.
In any case, why is it that you claim in your third paragraph that "...but who am I to determine how someone should live his or her life or condemn them just because they just chose a different life style?" ..and then you voraciously chew up Otabil as being intellectually dishonest in your first paragraph?
I suppose that by your curious posture of sympathetic tolerance for homosexuality, you are in the same light, likewise unqualified to comment, question or condemn racists, pedophiles, polygamists, unrepentant criminals, kleptomaniacs, adulterers, sexual deviants, fraudsters and all other despicable shortcomings of human behaviour. If not, your level of intellectual dishonesty sucks a hundred times more than what you, in your warped mind, presume Otabil to be.
And worse of all, how dare you, you sonofabitch, how dare you equate the general repugnant defects of deviant human behavior, homosexuality, as being comparable with the racial characteristics and the struggles of the Blackman to redeem himself from the tyrannical hegemony of western Europeans and their American kith and kin? God damn you! I am not religious in any way but if God is out there somewhere listening, is He ever going to make stewed minced meat out of you on judgment day for the repast of the devil.
It seems to me that you, a Blackman, have been languishing out there in your ‘beloved’ Cambridge for far too long. You have been racially domesticated as an eternal menial servant, to carry the ammunition of the obnoxious and genetically implanted curse of racism of the Whiteman, for him. Your mind has been distorted, mutilated and cruelly twisted to scorn your own self and people of your kind to the extent that you consider your own race as despicable, reprehensible and as contemptible as the sinful ignominy of homosexuality. As a modern day so called Man of God, Otabil and others like him will dwell on their vision of prosperity to continuously get rich at the expense of the masses and then blame politicians because the same prosperity they use to exploit these people are not bearing any fruits for these followers. It is all mind games as usual. But of course we all know for a fact that as Ghanaians and Africans we are a long shot from the finished article when it comes to politics. The mindset of the majority of our own makes it extremely difficult and almost impossible for honestly and accountability to prevail. Just as we have here there are die hard followers who will fight tooth and nail to defend what we glaringly know is wrong. We will continue to hurl insults at each other because one comes from this tribe or other. We take bribes at work places. We throw rubbish and take a piss anywhere and when we get caught for any offense are quick to want an easy way out. maybe as people we should all take a deep look into ourselves and use common sense to make ourselves better people first. If you look at these pastors and how they have prospered in these few years why dont we ask ourselves what is making them prosper and we their congregation suffer. If we want prosperity then it must begin with us for my own opinion is that no pastor can make my life better than what it is or what it will be. Your own efforts and prayers. otherwise they will only continue to ride in their super cars and live in Trassaco Valley at our expense.

Some of you think the gospel is about Moses walking on Desert somewhere in unknown place and Jesus talking to Mary and Martha. You guys don't know that the Gospel is about your daily living. Becoming a leader in your daily living to bring success in your life, town and country is part of the gospel.
Probably, the hardest thing Jesus did in his short ministry is, when he has to pray all night and seek his father's face to choose leaders who will become Apostles to carry to spread the gospel. If leadership is not part of the gospel, then I don't what is. Read this: Luke 6:12-13
"12- It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. 13- And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles"
In the Old Testament, we also learn about leadership and delegation of powers which has become a norm these days. God called Moses and not his father in law, Jethro. However, it was Jethro who advised Moses to use wisdom in dealing with the people of Israel. Had Otabil come and talk about how African leaders don't know anything about delegation of powers, you would have condemned him. Go and read : Exodus 18: 13-22
Our country lacks people with leadership skills, yet when a pastor comes here and talk about that, we find people insulting him. Marriages are breaking down because, father or mother know nothing about leadership. Our kids are following the crowd and getting pregnant or being sent to jails because Mom and Father know nothing about leadership. Shop owners are losing monies and can't expand their business because they know nothing about leadership. Give a car to someone who has leadership skills and you will go home and the person has 3 more cars. The one who does not will always call you to bring money to buy tires. Our hospitals have become mortuaries, because the CEOs or Directors have no leadership skills. And you are telling me, Otabil should not talk about that?

J Ansah you are a sad victim of western (mis)education. I am strongly inclined to think that you are one of these Ghanaians who have voluntarily 'exiled' themselves from the responsibility of national obligations to live a much cozier life that others have sweated blood to create for themselves. Your logic and understanding of economics runs parallel to this travesty of moral principles.
Privatization does not in anyway solve the problems of corporate ineptitude and income for govt. Privatization in Third World economies is just simply another of these imperialist scams that are foisted on stupid educated niggers who cant tell their left from their right, to further exploit them.
Tell me, what happened to all these state enterprises that were sold to foreigners and private enterprises who were supposed to show better results? For the infinitesimal few that showed good results, what was the proportion of benefit to the govt and people of Ghana?
I have often heard many educated illiterates whining on about the inability of state enterprises to perform well. So I ask them, what and how many private enterprises are performing well in the difficult circumstances of the under-developed economy of Ghana which is still under the clutches of imperialist domination and exploitation??
It is fact that more private enterprises fail than the number of state enterprises that fail in Ghana. A casual look at the number of private enterprises that fail to make it even beyond their first year of registration and operation, will make you think again.
Now get this straight, Ghana Telecom was not sold because it was inefficient. You too should wake up from your slumber. Ghana Telecom like many other state enterprises, were sold by politicians primarily to make cheap and undeserved money for themselves and to make some money to run govt to conceal their gross ineptitude.
Many of these state enterprises that were privatized were then allowed to be managed by the same local Ghanaians who it was said could not manage properly when the govt owned those companies. Do you get the catch here?
Dont be fooled at all. Privatization which is the flagship of neo-colonialism was cleverly foisted upon us to make us look and feel useless and incompetent by the modern slave institutions such as the World bank and the IMF. I am marveled that educated Africans cannot after over 50 years, see how stupid they look from swallowing the futile, unfeasibe and fake prescriptions of principally these two shark institutions.
My difficulty and pain is that how many more years, decades and centuries will it take for the Black man to wake up from his slumber and from continuing to crawl like brainless idiots behind the shenanigans of our detractors and oppressors? How long?

I believe it is safe to say he is preparing himself for a presidential bid, and we should oblige him. If he thinks running a one-man church, free of any encumberances, is the same as running a country of 24 million people, let`s see what he is made of!

Mills had a blared vision, Mahama has no Vision. Otabil is 1000% right, Ghana under Mahama has no Vision, otherwise can someone tell Ghanaians what Mahama's vision is?
Due to lack of vision he has no Direction as to where he is driving the country to. As as result there is no law and order, wvery situation in Ghana is chaotic, corruption has increased over 1000 times (Mahama's approach to fighting corruption is mere firefighting and based on hearsay)
Mahama looks confused and dejected every day because he lacks vision in his position.
It is only when you have a Vision that you work towards that you set a mission and devise values you expect from your teams.
You and your team then devise goals and objectives and strategies in the form of action plans to achieve those goals.
The people at the ministries, districts and below will just implement operational plans to achieve the action plans and gools to realise the vision.
In the absence of that we can only see the firefighting and the mismanagement with its concomitant corruption in the country as it is now.

You people should stop these senseless insults and contribute your minds to issues people raise on this platform. If you Nana Akomea think the answers to this topic is just a matter of 'pepeni' as you have stated here, then Otabil's observation is miserably the case cos you lack vision yourself.
Now, my comment is why don't Ghana incorperates into section of the constitution a programme of visionary action plans that would by statutory backing be guiding the nation to achieve those vision? This is because, any govt that comes to power seems to do what it thinks must be the vision to deliver Ghana from her predicaments with nothing eventually achieved. For example, if Ghana wants to build nuclear power to supply electricity for the whole country within first 10 years of that constitution, then any govt that comes in the first 10 years must do that or be impeached according to the constitution. That section of the constitution detailing programme of development plans can be revised after achieving the set out objectives. I may sound riggid, but only radical development visions especially in the provision of basic essentials like food, shelter, clothing, etc envisaged into our constitution to be achieved or else the govt in power be impeached can bring meaningful change in Ghana.

Governments have come and gone. We hear charges of corruptoin commited by each one of them but never in the history of Ghana have we heard or known of such a gargantuan corruption and mismanagement of the country's funds like WHAT this government has done, Day in and day out we hear of heartbreaking theft, fraud, crimes. and mismagement of government funds with no one to the rescue. Ghanaians wail on the web,on radios, in news papers, on the streets and that's the end. There is nobody to ask what happened next. some examples are. the arrest of our gold in Turkey. numerous drug arrests , people in high authorities defrauding Ghana etc. The questions are, who owns Ghana and thinks about Ghana? Who owns Ghana and can defend Ghana against all these crimes, theft, and corruption? Who can fight for the poor Ghanaian? Is it the Chief Justice? is it the Attorney general? is it the police? is it the army? Who isit? who owns Ghana? WHO? WHO? WHO? WHOOOOOOO? It looks like there is noboby. OOOOHHHH POOR GHANA.

Well, this time I am glad it was not a vision revealed to him to prophesy. He is using his experience to talk to Ghanaians.
If these MEN OF GOD could be honest to themselves, we shall welcome and respect them. They can talk on economic, political and social issues, they can chastise governments if they go wrong but they should not burden us with their fake prophesies and lies to people. They should stop fleecing their poor congregation while they live luxurious lives but threaten their people with Hell fire that will burn a thousand years if they don't contribute money to the cause of the churches.

His vision was to build a university which together with his congregation they have achieved. Who do you think owns Central Univeristy in Ghana? Like i always say, too many ignorant people come on here and just comment on issues without knowing what they are talking about. Others come here to just insult and post disgraceful comments just because they think because they can't be seen, they can just say anything stupid and get away with it. With such attitudes, we will continue to drive on bad roads, experience power shortage, water problems and struggle to get basic needs. In the abundance of water the fool is thirsty. With the abundance of natural resources, we are still underdeveloped.

Vision? I dont think there is a leader without a vision. Once he is a leader he must be leading his people somewhere. Vision simply the goal you want to reach. You may not reach it but you must do things that put you on the path, and what will define this direction is your mission statement. What may be the problem with our leaders is getting their people to share in that vision to help him achieve it.

I think Pastor Otabil should be thinking of training Ghanaians with the qualities he sees as lacking with governments in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
A look at the profile of his university reads, “The Central University College was founded by the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana. It started off as a pastoral training institute in 1988. It was then known as the Central Bible College by June 1991. It later became the Central Christian College in 1993 and eventually became the Central University College in 1997. Among the stated aims of the university is to provide an "integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent"
After 25 years of existence of his university and over 29 years of pastoral ministry, I wonder how many people he has positively imparted to bring good change to the political scene, at least, in Ghana. Having seen the problem, what solutions is he proffering to it? Pastor Otabil can put up free university courses in Political Leadership and Management to train our politicians, MPs and directors, etc., to show his goodwill to the nation. It is then that he can firmly say that he is meeting the aim set out for the establishment of his university - to provide an "integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent." It is also then that he can come out to castigate any government. Pastor Otabil, put this into action and let us see if you will not help change the only country you have – Ghana.

The only thing we hear is insults when one offers any suggestion. The present lwadwrship in Ghana is so pompous that they do not want to be told the truth and we keep hearing lies, corruption. Where are we going as a nation. Time will surely tell and I hope it should be soon.

I think a forum like this to share ideas is great. Unfortunately this forum is full of unbelievable insults characteristic of children fighting, uncivilized or illiterate folks. And for those who cannot contain their frustrations and anger at God Almighty and find an avenue in dumping them in the form of accusations and insults on men of God should be careful because the Almighty will not hold His peace forever. He is one way or the other going to confirm and affirm His anointed, but in what way we do not know. That is why it is prudent to fear God.

I think readers have not understood what Pastor Otabil said. All he was saying is that there is no clear vision for the country so that whatever party comes to power pursue it. For lack of a defined goal for the country, political parties come with their own visions, some of which are detrimental to the nation. It is not just a better Ghana agenda or a free secondary school mantra. If it is the way of a better Ghana agenda that we want to go, then the way forward must be clearly defined as to how it is going to be achieved, so that whatever party that comes to power won't deviate from it. Or if "Free Secondary School for all", then how we're going to get funds to run the schools and create jobs for the graduates or give them opportunities to become self-employed must be documented for all to follow. I think this is the essence of what he was saying and I agree with him.

Mr. Mahama is clueless like late President Limann who ignored numerous warnings of possible coup by J.J. Like it or not Rev. Otabil has said what most Ghanaians are saying for the past few years. What do we want to achieve in the next two years? nobody clearly knows. In my estimation, any leader who can not give Ghanaians common water to drink must ask himself why is he in power? Since 1992 we have not been able to solve Adenta water crisis. Dr.Otabil is a concern Ghanaian like any of us, and he should not be intimidated and coloured by any political grouping.
Ghana our beloved country deserves more than we have witnessed for the past twenty years or more since this 'new' democracy started. This is not about Party A or party B. we are just worried about the future of Ghana, then and now.

“somebody will say well, but there’s a government document so and so and so and when you look at the government document and the English and the grammar that has been used, you have to read about a 1000 pages to get one idea, but there’s no one simple idea that is on the lips of every Ghanaian as to where we want to get in 10 years or five years”.
Well, I could have chosen to rest my case but..............when we teh Africans of different race, cultures, traditions, heritages etc. trying to educate themselves and blindly mimic another races' language, lifestyles, mistakes of THEIR making, corrections of THEIR making, analysis of THEIR experiences to make their lives easier for them.........etc. etc.
What on earth do we expect to achieve?
The results are plain and simple: CHAOS AND NOTHING = POVERTY!
This whole confusion and crap is led by the educated illiterates running our dear nation. Therefore, the results are there for all to see.
Nothing achieved by the two most
useless parties that have ever presided over Ghana. They only produce 'book-long' manifestos of NOTHING! What a shame!!!!!
Our so-called education system is rubbish! It produces individuals who
ape around believing that by expressing themselves in other peoples' lingos and lifestyles they are better positioned to lead us......
Well, I don't think so.....because these same lot have had the opportunity to rule us for generations and the answers are there on the ground for Ghanaians to see...
So, foot-soldiers of these useless parties should think twice before.....
I now rest my case,
GOD BLESS GHANA!
AFRICAN FOREVER!

I just want to comment on the last paragraph of this article which says: “If a pastor wants to build a Church, he’ll come and say we are going to build a 2000-seater auditorium"
No human being or pastor builds a church. It is the HOLY SPIRIT that builds the church and the church is built on Revelation of the Word of God and not on ideas and aspiration of what people want the church to be like such as the congregation size, number of schools, their status as the bishops or whatever. Jesus said; "Upon this rock (the Revelation Peter had for who Christ is) I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".

Government should draw up a programme that opens up the world to our young ones. Let our children realise that life is not all about growing up to become a doctor or a lawyer. To build a nation we need everybody, including engineers, fire fighters, good teachers, caring nurses, play writes think tanks God infused men of God, selfless elders and ready to die for nation politicians, country at heart footballers, I mean everybody.

NDC lacks strategic means of tackling/solving problems as well as governance.
A PROBLEM SOLVER SHOULD KNOW WHAT HE IS ABOUT.
JESUS SAID:
I MUST BE ABOUT MY FATHER'S BUSINESS.WHIST IT IS THE DAY,MAN SHOULD WORK,FOR,A NIGHT COMES WHEN NO MAN CAN WORK:
HIS WORK WAS TO PREACH,TEACH AND HEAL.
An idea is a thought, borne in our spirit mind,by God,to solve problems others cannot.
One good idea, can make one live like a king all the days of his life.
NDC MEMBERS LACK SINGLE IDEA TO MAKE GHANA,COME OUT OF THE UNTOLD PROBLEMS WE FACE.
WE HAVE TO HAVE GOALS AND THEREFORE,A TARGET/FOCUS TO STRIFE TOWARDS.
HOW DO THESE GUYS EVEN MAKE NEGOTIATIONS FOR GHANA?THAT IS A HUGE QUESTION,I ALWAYS ASK MYSELF.BECAUSE,THEY DO IT FOR THE WHOLE CITIZENRY.
NEGOTIATIONS BEGINS AT BIRTH.
When a baby cries,he is negotiating for attention.
EVEN HUSBANDS AND WIVES NEGOTIATE CONTINUOUSLY.
We were all created to solve problems:
Mothers solve emotional problems, doctors solve sickness problems.Everything God created was to solve existing problems.
DOES NDC HAS ANY AIM,THE POISE,GOALS,IDEAS,STRATEGY,in solving any problem for Ghana?
NO SIR,I DOUBT IT.
MENSAH OTABIL IS RIGHT.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEMS CLOSEST TO US AS GHANAIANS:WATER,POWER,BRIBERY & CORRUPTION,LACK OF INTEGRITY,UNCARING/UNPATRIOTIC ATTITUDE,DRUGS,JUDGEMENT DEBT PAYMENTS,SCHOOLS UNDER TREES,CHILD PONOGRAPHY & LABOUR EXPLOITATION,HIGH INTEREST RATES,LACK OF WISDOM TO RULE AND INTEGRITY/TRUSTWORTHINESS,COVETOUSNESSTHE LIST GOES ON AND ON.
IN THE MIDST OF PLENTY,THE COMMON MAN ON THE STREET IS STILL SUFFERING:
WE HAVE GOLD,DIAMONDS,MANGANESE,BAUXITE,URANIUM,OIL,GAS,COCOA,LUMBER,RUBBER ETC,YET WE ALWAYS SELL THEM CRUDE,WITHOUT PROCESSING TO ADD VALUE,AND PROVIDE JOBS FOR OUR,READY TO WORK,YOUTH.
WE ARE WASTING OUR RESOURCES GOD HAS GIVEN TO US FREELY.
GHANA SHOULD WAKE UP FROM HER SLUMBER,AND DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE,AND AVOID THE PILE OF MISTAKES WE ARE ALWAYS COMMITTING.
OUR LEADERS HAVE TO BE DISCERNING TO KNOW WHAT MATTER TO US THE MOST,SO WE CAN WALK AWAY FROM THE TRIVIAL.
ELSE,WE WOULD BE WONDERING IN AN ENDLESS CIRCLES.
MAY GOD BLESS GHANA WITH ABLE,DISCERNING,SELFLESS,MAN OF INTEGRITY,WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING,TO LEAD US TO THE PROMISE LAND,
IN JESUS' NAME!
AMEN.

Otabil you are not the President of Ghana and I do not know where was Otabil when Kuffour was President. If Otabil thinks when Kuffour was the President there was a clear Leadership and where Ghana wanted to go we all know what has happen to Ghana. Armed Robberies , lack of respect among the youth. People do not take education seriously and Corruption is at it highest peak in Ghana. What did Kuffour did ? At least we all know Rawlings tamp don the corruption and Armed Robber
My question is what did Kuffour did all he did was to reversed all the discipline Rawlings instill in Ghana

For decades, some of us have been calling for nine year national development plans which cut across parliamentary cycles and changes in government. Such plans need to be bi-partisan, well thought out, costed and ring-fenced and properly policed to ensure proper accountability in the execution of those plans.
National development plans must be 'sold' to the public who should 'buy' into it and co-own the process. Annual accountability forums and annual reports will tell us how the plans are being executed and how the costs are being met. Because it is non-partisan, and because the populace co-owns it, everybody would want to see it succeed and all parties can take the credit for success.
Rwanda is a very small and poor country which emerged from decades of civil and ethnic conflict culminating in the massive 1994 genocide. The unity government that took over after winning the civil war decided to make theirs an inclusive country where ID Cards with tribal labellings became a thing of the past.
I happen to have witnessed, last December (2012) the Annual Accountability Forum where government ministers and appointees came to make a public account about what they had promised a year earlier and what they had been achieved. The public can question them and take them to account. This is serious business and even the president's office is not left out of it. Are there lessons here for Ghana to learn?
Now to come back to Pastor Otabil's observations. Some on this forum have questioned why it has taken him so long to make such comments and others have even suggested that he should have made them when his (NPP) party were in power but he failed to do so, or perhaps did not realise the country "lacks leadership and vision". I have even seen some suggest that he is "standing behind the pulpit to play politics".
Whatever Otabil's motives for telling his congregation this, the truth is: Ghana has leaders (in both parties - NPP and NDC). How good their leadership is is another matter. These leaders certainly have "visions", I very much doubt that they are 'visionless'.
For example, Nana Akufo Addo promised to make Free SHS for All a government priority under his leadership. There is a "Prayer Group" which has been assembling in Kumasi praying for him to become president so that they can beneift from this promise. It is a vision of Nana Addo, that ALL SHS pupils should enjoy fee-free education to help educate our youth.
The president, Mahama and his government (under Mills) embarked upon their "Better Ghana agenda" and the government has promised to build over 200 new SHS schools, a number of new public Universities and some other infrastructure projects including airports. These are plans based on a vision.
My own regret is that two key things have not been seriously addressed: A national massive agenda for underground drainage in our cities and metropolitan towns (to start with, and to extend to all parts of the country over e.g. a 50 year period) and Standard Dual carriage roads in all cities and key metropolitan towns as well as multi-lane motorways linking our regions and cities.
The trouble with our clergy sometimes is that they fail to recognise that they are not experts in other areas of national endeavour and although it is right (in my view) that they raise issues of national importance and significance, these should be raised in a way to help the debate and to encourage governments (and parliament) to do more and do better at running the country.
When the clergy lose their credibility among neutrals because of 'partisan stance' they may have adopted in the past, or where they are inconsistent in their 'admonition' and contribution to national dialogue and pertinent national development issues, or where they choose to condemn the ruling government without equivocation, that is where they are attacked. It is better to be attacked by all sides for your consistency and open, genuine, fair and balanced view on national issues.
Eventually, you will command the respect of all because you 'pull no punches' but also contribute positively and sensibly to national debate and developmental agenda. People like Otabil must learn this simple principle if they are to be taken seriously by all.

I wonder when Otabil first came to know this about Ghana and other African Countries. Many Ghanaians have been making this observation long before he jumped into the discussion.
If he were concerned about this lack of vision and concrete goals for the Country a year ago, two or three years ago, why didn't he make this known then and waited till now?
As much as his observation is true, he might have withheld his grievance when it was the tenure of a Government he supported. This is typical of our Clergy who mostly keep some Political sympathies for particular Parties or Governments.
If our Pastors like Otabil are really godly sincere about our fate, they should not withhold due criticism of any Administration only to unleash a pulpit sermon on Governance to indirectly blame an old problem on an incumbent they hate.
If our Clergies were bold and honest enough we could have been spared the last three Coups that visited upon us. For example, when the legendary Kalabule was fast eating the insides of our Nation in the 70s, the Clergy largely remained mute until the Soldiers stepped in with their brand of discipline that took some lives needlessly.
Sometimes, it makes me wonder whether the Clergies conveniently fail to preach the virtues of Governance to their Congregation because some of its members happen to be in the Government or Party of their liking and are big "Collection Donors".
If they want to be political, let them do so across the board or they would be making fools of themselves as blatantly biased political stooges. If they want to remain apolitical, they would have to show that, too, with a reasonably level of neutrality.

Peter Drucker once said, that one has not effectively communicated to the intended receipient of the message, until the receipient understands the message as clearly as the communicator of the the message. Rev. Otabil is right in pointing out this principle in visioning and leadership as well. A leader whose vison is not known and understood clearly by those he/she is leading, needs to do more. Does the "man or woman on the street" in Ghana know what our targets are for the next five years as a people? Like Rev. Otabil I would like more people in Ghana to really understand how policies shape their current and future aspirations.

Dr. Mensah Otabil. Ghana doesn't lack vision nor does it lack leadership. When the people went to the polls to vote. They did so, on the basis of a MANIFESTO(VISION) to be steered by a leader (Mahama or Nana). The people have chosen a particular manifesto. That is where the country is headed. Now, when a vision is chosen, it is executed. Sometimes, external forces such as the issue of the supreme court would demand that other causes of actions are taken to continue pursuing that vision. Now, to rule a country is far more difficult and different than running the kind of institution you are running, where most of the time, you decide on what to do and the church members and others follows without much questioning. JUST RESPECT THE DECISION OF THE PEOPLE. THEY HAVE CHOSEN A VISION. WE WAIT TO EVALUATE THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THAT VISION AFTER THE FOUR YEARS. While we they at it, just keep praying and preaching righteousness for the church members to go to heaven and not amasss wealth on earth, for that is the VISION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. CHRIST's Vision is “go ye into the world and preach the Gospel, He who believes and is baptised shall be saved”.
