This article is an open invitation to all who are interested in being part of epoch making events in the country, particularly academia and indeed the health care and medical personnel who in the past have been slow rate determinants instead of catalysts for the expansion of medical training in Ghana.
It is pertinent to note that the history of the establishment of the pioneering medical in schools in Ghana was replete with severe obstructions by the medical class, seeing it more as a politically motivated, diabolical plan to cause ischaemiic changes in the rather exclusive pantheon of the medical fraternity!
Now is the time for the 'inward looking' doctors to seize the opportunity to increase the decibels to obliterate the political 'noise' that has trespassed every conceivable space in our body politic...our noise must indeed sound musical.
Welcome, UHAS!
Congratulations to the visionary initiators and the pioneering staff!!

Nice comment Tito, especially, for all those who know how to read. Now is the time to genuinely recruit and welcome
the experience and the training of fellow Ghanaians in the Medical/Health Establishment who are currently away from home.
There has been a reluctance of Ghanaian Medical professionals in the diaspora returning home for various(personal)reasons. But,mainly, the reluctance is indicative of the problem of acceptance by their own peers at home.
Upon arrival, they are usually seen as "the know it all" by their colleagues, when in fact,
the opposite is the case.
UHAS must learn to welcome these experienced and trained Ghanaians with
open heart and must open their minds to well and intentioned ideas from these returning post grads and doctors.Incusivity should be encouraged.
UHAS SECOND YEAY LOOKS PROMISING!
'AM ALREADY IMPRESSED!!!

This is an institution with forward-thinking and progressive academic and administrative leadership. The academic leadership sees itself as 'pioneers' who are making the necessary sacrifices for posterity. This is typified by Prof. Festus Adzaku (Dean of Science) and Prof. Fred Binka (Vice Chancellor). They are also busy head hunting like-minded talent from within Ghana and in the diaspora and the response so far has been very positive and refreshing.
Its vision is one that ought to be supported for the goals to be realised fully. I happen to believe that UHAS will surprise everybody in no time at all with both the talents its produces and a different approach to national and international training, research and enterprise.
Watch this space.
