YOU ARE DAMNED TIGHT SPEAKING ABOUT THIS SUBJECT BUT STILL FALL SHORT TO CALL A SPADE A SPADE. GHANA IS BEING RUINED BY OUR SO CALLED CHIEFS WHO ARE SELLING LANDS INDISCRIMINATELY AND NO ONE IS BRAVE ENOUGH TO TELL THEM ITS WRONG OR ITS AGAINST THE LAW. GHANA IS A REPUBLIC AND THE CHIEFS HAVE NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER TO SELL LANDS, SOMEONE TELLS ME STOOLLANDS ETC. TELL ME WE OWN THE LAND NOT THE CHIEFS SO OUR LAND SHOULD BE DEMARCATED ACCORDING TO OUR NEEDS NOT WHAT THESE CHIEFS WANT. WE NEED TO HAVE A MOVEMENT TO HIGHLIGHT THIS PROBLEM. I LIVE IN ACCRA IN AN AREA WHICH THE CHIEF SOLD THE LAND, THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT FOR PUBLIC OR LOCAL OR NATIONAL AUTHORITY SUCH AS SCHOOL, POST OFFICE, LIBRARY, HOSPITAL OR CLINIC, POLICE STATION, MARKET, COUNCIL OFFICE, A BUS STATION. WHY, SHOULD GHANAIANS OF ALL INTELLIGENCE LET THIS INSTITUTION WHICH SERVES NO PURPOSE THREATEN OUR FUTURE? IS THERE NO GOVT WHO CAN UPHOLD OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS?

This is what happens when the state doesn't have a National Spatial Development Plan! We are now doing workshops and seminars and so on, but the chiefs are selling.
Why do we have Fulani-Farmer conflicts; unregulated Galamsey; herds of cattle roaming in heart of Accra; indiscriminate felling of trees; etc, etc.
These things are bound to continue, unless we have a National Spatial Development Plan that places control of land under the state government!

The Land of Ghana belong to all Ghanaians and not only chiefs. So it should be illegal for so-called chiefs to sell all lands. We need a land reform where every familie descending from any town get a share of it.

Mr. Afriyie's suggestion is a very good one which should not be toyed with. The land commission should liaise with parliament and pass this law as a matter of urgency
