Unfortunately, so far, this accidental government has not achieved anything worthy of note, although they have sunk this nation into what could almost be described as insurmountable debt despite revenue from our new-found oil deposits.
God help us all.

No wonder or public institutions continue to fail.

This is rather not over spending but the results of budget officers not able to do proper cost analysis. If the EC over spend then proper budgeting was not done as the commission needed adequate financing to make sure our democracy through elections is not compromised. They needed the monies but failed to do proper home work for Government to consider hence they over shot their financial mandate. There were hidden expenses but lack of expertise to draw up proper financial document. This happens in many other areas ,so the Government has to sit up and take budgeting serious.

Is John Mahama telling Ghanaians that he wasn't aware of these expenditures? As of late July, 2012, he was the chairman of the economic management team of then President Mills. Surely, these expenditures should have come to his notice or somebody's attention should have been drawn to the runaway expenditure pattern. John Mahama cannot absolve himself of this unbridled expenditure pattern. The rot in the system as has been experienced from 2009 till present is a direct consequence of the mismanagement, corruption, fraud, dubious judgment debts, incompetence and ineptitude that has been demonstrated by the Mills-Mahama-Amissah team for which Ghanaians voted them out of power but they had to adopt manipulation of the votes via malpractices, irregularities, omissions and statutory violations.

They say one thing and then do something else. The question is how much of the expenditure went towards the aims and objectives of the various ministries? What will the audit report say? The level of overspend is so high it will at best be described as reckless expenditure, thus falls under the category of causing financial loss to the state.
It is even made worse by the fact that items budgeted for were not delivered so they stole funds for those items as well as the so called over expenditure.
The police needs to investigate this matter together with the funding of the ndc election campaign.clearly the money on show was not legal money. It is not unusual for the police to investigate people living so much above their means. look at that Aseidu Nkesia, when his party came to power his waist size was 24 inches, now it looks like 42 inches. He had the facial features of an Egyptian mummy, now his cheeks are like the arse of mahama's deputy infor minister, ofri jato is no different

Overspend is easy in Ghana. All meetings which were previously held as part of the job is now attracting "sitting allowance". This is another way by which the educated in our society find ways to steal money "legally". So unless there could be a way to decide, in advance how many meetings a ministry will hold and budget for sitting allowances, budgetary overspend is inevitable.

Corruption, rot everywhere. So far the government has not shown any indication that it is going to prosecute anyone. The President should show more commitment to dealing with this corruption by its policies and measures being put in place as well as commitment to prosecute anyone implicated, including the Attorney General's office. We have to break this culture of officials and civil servants not been punished for these crimes. They are nation wreckers and must be treated as such. The total amount involved in these 'irregularities' i believe is more than the cost of the Bui Dam, and yet we could not wholly finance its construction. If this affairs continue i am afraid the country will become a failed state. Let's not think the oil will always be there. An opportunity has been thrown at us to make Ghana a showpiece of Africa and deliver our long suffering people from this life of misery. Let's not squander it, we may not get a second chance. Let's put a stop to this canker by beginning to severely punish these nation wreckers, these blood suckers and scum of the earth.
