It is common knowledge that some of these so-called party bigwigs have 'turned coat' not because they really believe the party is doing something wrong, but that they have been arm-twisted by opponents to start an internecine warfare in the party to cause confusion and dis-affection.

Can anyone tell me, for instance, why a previously-respected elder like Kwame Pianim start all of a sudden to make nosensical effusions such as any fool can be a flag-bearer and that Atta Mills was a saint?

And can anyone justify the nosensical criticisms that Wereko-Brobbey suddenly began leveling against the decent and brilliant Dr. Bawumia? Everyone close to Tarzan can testify how suddenly his fortunes have improved since he turned Judas. We're not stupid.

And that Nyaho-Tamakloe; nobody begrudges him for choosing family over party, but he should not get away with the audacity of shouting about specks in the party's eyes when he's keeping mute about the logs in his own.

All those who choose greed over principle must be booted out. And NDC can mind their own business. What haven't they done to their own? Even the 'founder and foundress' were not spared ultimate humiliation in Sunyani, as well as on many other public platforms.

It seems Owusu Afriyie fails to recognize that the majority in the Party could be wrong, and the few he mentioned could be right in the various issues the disagreements occurred.

What he is advocating is group-think phenomenon by which the Party should operate. One thing that is common among all these members the so-called "Sir John" alluded to is that they are all deep-thinkers who are not afraid to maintain their grounds on what they have thoroughly and thoughtfully considered and have come to believe as the best decision.

The fact that they have disagreed with the Party variably, on different issues, indicates they do not intend to impose their will on the Party, but rather strongly entreat it to re-think its decision that might not have taken a farther-reaching view of the decision.

The problem with the attitude of Owusu Afriyie and his cohorts is that they are never willing to consider the full import of the opinions these few dissenters offer, simply because those contrarian opinions do not lend comfort to the majority's largely spontaneous, emotional options in those circumstances.

It is obvious that the likes of "Sir John" are those who would rather run the Party on invoking unreasonable passions, even violence, giving their characteristic insulting language used against all who they perceive as opponents.

I use the word 'spontaneous' in the sense that the immediate reaction to every opinion that criticizes the NPP is that which repels the critic as a potential foe. But in many of such instances the critique most likely would enrich the Party's policies and make it more attractive for outsiders to join and swell its membership.

If the NPP keeps out everyone that criticizes the Party or its decisions, it is turning the Party into a tight, dictatorial Order or Lodge of some kind, and eventually the Party would be owned by those who allow for no dissention and are prone to act more on impulse than on reasoning.

Long Live Ghana!!!
