We have sent a petition to enable local people elect their own DCEs, MCEs.
This is not a big deal but having been challenged in Ashanti Akim I pray that His Excellency John Mahama can now take the Progressive People's Party's (PPP) Petition serious. This is not a political matter but one of pure logic and national interest and of course, efficiency.
The Government must think twice and refrain from putting square pegs in round holes.

DCEs and Regional Ministers should be elected by the people and not appointed by the president or his party.

When appointed they respect and become accountable only to the president and the party that appointed them instead of being accountable to the people in the district or region.

This kind of partisan practise is the reason amd main cause of unchecked corruption in our society.

The person being appointed has no cultural, personal or heritage allegiance to the people and area for which he/she is supposed to lead.

Ghanaians always have things upside down.

How on earth should an Ewe man be appointed DCE over natives in Asante-Akyem North district.

Imagine and Ashanti, no matter how many years he/she has lived in Volta or Northern region being appointed DCE over local natives.

This partisan practise should be abolished and going forward all regional and district minsters should elected by their own people.

The appointments of so many unqualified people over our life are the root cause of many of our problems today.

The colonial masters decided to appoint these people because they did not think of us as being qualified at that time - why should we comtinue this dummy practise at this time ???

All Ghanaians don't live in some tiny village, but time and again, GNA and other Newspapers write their reports as if "all of us are aware of what the hell is going on in every region or district" by not giving the bare minimum tit-bits of detail information.

Basic questions:

1) What are the “administrative qualifications” of this nominee, aside from being a Laboratory Technician, to make him capable of governing a political district?

2) How long would it take for the president to nominate another candidate, thus the Ashanti Regional Minister bemoaning the negative effects on development if a DCE is not put in place?

3) What reasons were given by those Assembly people who voted against the nominee?

So, GNA, how the hell can we make sense out of this foolish report? GNA will mention an MP's name in a report without telling us which political party he belongs to or mention a town without letting us know in which region it is located because, foolishly, GNA thinks all of us live in Ghana and have intimate knowledge about these things in Ghana. If we do, then why you Negroes at GNA have jobs of reporting to us, because we damn know everything already? SHAME ON GNA!! GNA is too old to know better. FOOLS, DON'T ASSUME TOO MUCH!!

Asante Akim North District is in Ashanti Region.
The candidate's rejection was mostly from his NDC colleagues for two main reasons:
1. The District gave Prez Mahama more than 30% of available votes in the last election (in a supposed NPP stronghold). Yet, not a single indigene of the area has been 'found fit' for the least national appointment up to this moment. (I'm told this Averu is of northern extraction.)
2. The Averu man was very instrumental to the sacking of the last MCE (who hails from the area). So, it's like what goes round comes round!
As for qualification, it seems, apart from Laboratory Technician, there is non beyond executive member of the local NDC party. May God deliver His people.
