Win or go home stages of U20 tourney.
Win just four matches and you are the defending world champs again!!!
One down, and just three matches to renewed world Champions!!!
Can the Black Satellites of Ghallywood take care of business against the best of 17 million population in Chile, come Sunday? Iraq beat them 2-1 and they were lucky to tie with England. Let's bag the next one against Chile too.
Obiara nye obiara and Sellas has done it before.
Most people like this squad and the formation Borbor is playing.
No Pressure, No Diamond or Gold, finished! Win or Go home, Knockout stage round two starts NOW!!
Is this satellite team the most deft or daft in the tournament, in the 18 box I mean, in terms of clinical higher conversion rate finishing? Tweaaaa!
All the players except one or two have a problem with their first touch when recieving a pass. That is a huge problem which deconstructs the rythym in our build up and counter attacks. Sellas need to make the team work on that weakness. - whatever
Can the team hold on to balls until help or teammates arrive? Are the players technically skilled? Why are people saying that the center defender is a suspect? Don't get us twisted because we also want the players to win.
The real under 20 WC tournament starts from NOW; four matches, win or go home! But then...one down and three more to go!

I agree with you. I really don't understand our people.
If we made all those , which the 22 million Ghanaian "coaches" are pointing out, and we still beat a highly rated Portugal team, then the should know that Portugal must have made a lot more mistakes than we did and that was why we won. But, that is exactly why a game is played.
If a team is never going to make a mistake for the other team to capitalize on, then there is no reason to play the game.
In this way, we might just give the points to Portugal, since they are rated higher than us, and since they are not going to make any mistakes in their coaching, playing and strategizing, FIFA would then declare them winners by default.
Those that are critizing our win, should just imagine what is going on among Portuguese fans.
Be real, folks. A win is a win, and a lose is a lose.

This squad has a very weak defense. Therefore, a defensive tactical approach wouldn't augur well for them. In this game, he started with attack mindedness and got one goal in the first half. Came into second half with defensive mindedness and conceded 2 goals in 3 minutes. He switched into attacking again and we won. No coach goes into any tournament with the intention to fail. Everybody wants to win, so you've got to be careful.

I was so angry at the coach when the boys came out from the break and sat in defense absorbing pressure! It gave the Portuguese a lot of confidence and thythm. They were rattled in the first half when we were attacking and forcing them to defend. That strategy was working perfectly, but alas Ghana come out trying to defend a lone goal against a very potent side for 45 minutes!! What kind of coaching is that??? Look what happened when we came out attacking the United States. Take it to the opponents, don't give them undue respect and sit back. I hope the coach has learned and is not going to repeat that mistake in the came against Chile.

The coach changed a strategy which was working and it could have cost us the game. After the first goal the ghanaians just closed shop and played strictly to defend the goal. It was a huge mistake, and next time we should think smarter. Also players should defend the ball well in front of goal, not be passing the ball carelessly in front of the goal. I am surprised we won. It was a very lucky win with very lucky goals, I think Portugal deserved to win. Maebe we won because the players were seen praying, but next time, play smart thinking football.

What kind of a defensive game was that? Folks, we won but it wasn't a good win. Selas Tetteh almost ruined our day because the defensive strategy he allowed the team to use in the second half wasn't a good plan. If the team was to play attacking game like it did toward the end of the match, when it was leading 1-0, the game would have been over before the 70th minutes. Mexico, for example, played with this same defensive mind set yesterday and and guess what? It didn't benefit them. At last, they lose to Spain 2-1.
This type of strategy should be changed. When we use such a strategy, it gives the opponent impression as we have no attacking plan and power to hurt them. Look at the way these players fought at the end? Is that a sign of not having good strikers or attackers? That is not true. We do have them; our game plan was poor, however. Something has to be done about that.
Moreover, the way we begin our matches may hurt us one day if we continue to do so. In this match, we were so lucky that we didn't concede 2 goals in the first minute of the match. That attitude of relaxing at every initial match has to be stopped! The moment we allow two goals, climbing up again wouldn't be easy.
To me, yes we won, which is the result we need to move on to the next level, we still have so many patches to seal. Sellas has his work cut off for him. He has to plan well if he wants us to move to the semi-finals.
That is my say.

No doubt at all, a win is a win. So will you also say after receiving your exam results "a pass is a pass".
The fact is, when you grow in knowledge and in wisdom, common sense will let you understand that an ordinary pass will only take you to a school like "Twediase Sec Tech" while a pass with distinction will take you to "Achimota Secondary Sch". They are all regarded as high schools but one is held in high esteem. A common pass will lead to a labourer job while a distinctive pass will lead to a managerial position. Don't fall for anything. Be classy, be determined, be ambitious. Just yesterday, a friend of mine forwarded a photo of a Ghanaian dentist's signboard. It reads " EBENEZER DENTAL CLINIC" Menstrual pains, fibroid, stomach ache, stomach trouble, cough, chest pain and asthma. Contact 024 276 5669 / 020 817 7801. Do you see any problem with this?

The facts in terms of the Portuguese record was already known and that is not what we are talking about. Did you watch the match. What happened during the first 2 minutes of the game? Those two nearly missed by Portugal, where do you think those goals could have ended us? We were lucky Mr. Such slow start in matches will not help the team in the future. That needs to be corrected. Do you agree with me there?
For the team to play defensive throughout the 2nd half, can you tell me what kind of tactical game plan that was? This wasn't that the team was leading by 3 goals or even 2 goals. Did you watch Mexico against Spain yesterday?
His substitution was well done and I gave him credit for that. What I want you too to know is the fact that he messed up by allowing the team to play defensive game throughout the second half.
Yes, he used the same strategy on Brazil during the final match in 2009 and we won. What you may not realized was that Brazil was playing way better than we were from the get go. When one of our defenders was red carded, it made things worse. Then he had no choice but to gamble with this defensive mapping. Fortunately, his plan worked and we won the cup. Today's match was different. We were playing well and were shooting better in the first half. That puts fear in the opponent; therefore, their strikers couldn't pushing as they would have until we decided to sit and absorb the pressure. You call that a good plan?
These are the facts you may need to collect in order to support your argument. Get that and return. I will be waiting for you.

Hello, it me again!!! never satisfied by our performance...Yes...that is me.
This general Ghanaian mode whereby we sit and not being aware of changes going on around us, is always what costs us in all the football matched we lose. We easily lose matches to laziness and sluggishness on the pitch rather than to technical inability. We nearly lost this Portugal match, had it not been the luckiest situation ever and the ingenuity of Boakye to slide the ball thru 2 defenders. Physically, we were stronger than them; technically, we were on the same level player-to-player. The only front they beat us on is coaching. Their coach, even though apparently older than Tetteh, is more vibrant and dynamic from his bench. Tetteh apparently lost his Rwanda job because of his inability to motivate player on the pitch, and read the game continually and adjust instantaneously. And this also explains how we won 2009 edition with self-motivated, vibrant players like Dede and co.. The coach need to be vibrant, able to move players to give out their best on the pitch, and be able to spot and re-direct affair immediately things started going wrong… instead of leaving everything to God….After training and game planning sections, the coach still need to reaffirm, reinforce whatever they said or planned during training sections on the pitch. That is how coaches like Jose Mourinho win difficult matches….I am not saying the coach does not know his job. Those qualities I am talking about are natural, second nature for a good manager or leader. Because the coach lacks these qualities, the players do not feel any urgency or obligation to give out their best. They tend to do the bare minimum on the pitch…. That is how the players end up over relaxing after taking a meager lead even in the first half, or easily get discourage when they trail. What is the team psychologist doing…..do we have one at all?

In the Portugal game, Sellas seemed to have messed the game plan one more time during the second half. But the U20 warriors were eventually victorious due to player game-manship, the late oourse correction implemented by Sellas, and Divine Grace. We made mistakes but the Portuguese made more mistakes than us. Thats why we won. The Portuguese missed at least two wonderfull chances in the the first half but we buried ours. Sellas thought he could use the Serbian Rope-A-Dope formation to defend a one goal lead. It backfired temporarily. The U20 boys with their unquenchable thirst for glory turned things around. Sellas has learnt one more lesson.
It is not always possible to use touchline coaching to change the tides during a loosing game. There are many classic examples: WC 1982 Brazilian Coach Tele Santana in Brazil v Italy, AFCON 1967 Ghanaian Coach Carlos Alberto Pareira in Ghana v Congo, WC 2010 Brazillian coach Dunga in Brazil v Holland, WC 1998 coach Mario Lobo Zagallo in Brazil v France, AFCON 2012 Ghanaian coach Appiah in Ghana v Zambia.
Its not always easy. This coach usually admits his errors and tries to make amends. Moreover, his squad always cntain players with enough skills and guts such as to cover for his shortcomings. If a coach makes one thousand and one mistakes and yet wins a game its appropriate to congratulate him at least for the victory before hauling him into the Halls of Damnation. He still has more victories to attain before winning the Trophy. Sellas will always have the sword of Damocles hanging over his head, even in victory!

Boakye Yiadom was brought in and worked wonders. His saved shot created the rebound for the second goal and his winning goal was fantastic. Tetteh may have had strategic shortcomings but that substitution was critical.

Congras boys. No soccer team from Ghana should take any team lightly out side the country. We are like America to the World as the super power.Every one in the world is out to beat Ghana in the game of soccer. No team wants to play Ghana now small or adult. And if they do,their goal is to beat Ghana.Local Stars, young Stars and senior Stars be cognizant of this anytime you hit the field of soccer.
The world is getting to know our weakness guys at soccer games. That is the slow start with all teams. At the same token, they are aware of our fantastic finishing.Be watchful at the first 5-10 minutes when the whistle goes.We can,t play catch up all the time.
WHY IS JOY FM 99.7 NOT BROADCASTING THE GAMES ON THE NET NO MORE.Eventhough,Ghanaian sports broadcasters announce games like they are reading from a paper. Why can,t Ghana produce other JOE LARTEY. I know this good station can find some one who will broadcast the games like Joe Lartey or the British sports casters.

Congratulations but our defending in our box lack clarity. We need to be very very very tight in our own penalty box when defending attacks from open play and set pieces. We are forced to score from difficult long range yet we concede loose goals from close range. It is unacceptable and we stretch ourselves playing that kind of game.

in the african championship he caused a neddless penalty in the final match.
he is not up to the standard so he tackles needlessly, he goes forward unnecessarily, he gives predictable passes, he crosses uselessly. i think silas tetteh took only one right full back to the tournament. however, since ghana is nototrious for switching full backs with careless abandon, why would silas tetteh keep the more talented and skillful isaac ofori and jeremiah akorful on the bench?

Congratulation to the Satellites for making Ghana proud, but we have had ourselves to blame in case we were kicked out. The coach was absolutely wrong to change the formation to a defensive format with counter attack in the second half. The team should have played the same way they did in the second half. In football, the best way to defend is to attack and hold the ball by means of short accurate passes. Mr. Sellas Tetteh did well, but he must refrain from such future mistakes.

Let us focus on the next game against Chile. The management must adopt the right game plan and strategy to win.
Let us defend well as a unit, play on the break and convert the chances we create.

I have never had the tiniest doubts about sellas tetteh because i know the man very well and had teamed up with him many many times. We both have the same strategy and it worked. i said earlie that the satellites will beat Portugal and no doubt about it so lets rally around sellas and give him all the support he deserved as a national coach for the satellites especially after the satellites lost the first two games in the preliminary stages. Some were calling him a dog due to his face and everything. But i know my felloe ghanaians very well as i have played before the massive crowd and if anything goes wrong your life will be turned outside down some used banana, oranges, mangoes thrown at you on the field so i know my people but now lets all celebrate that stunning win over portugal and prepare the satellites for the next crucial games which am optimistic the satellites will win and retain the throphy they won in 2009. Stop the criricisms and always find a way toi rally around the coach and that ll encourage him to do more. Weldone lads and well one sellas i never doubt you am behind you all the way coz i know you very well keep up with the good work for ghana and for the satellites. But sellas know as well what it is like to be a footballer in ghana so he wouldnt mind all thoise criticisms.Be happy as a national and celebrate the emphatic win last nite period.

we are still in this tourney with luck and not our performance. can anybody see i see in the team. what is the right-fullback nketia still doing in the first eleven? six of the seven goals conceded were is fault, he has never blocked any crosses yet, cant tackle, and he wants to overlap but cant recover always leaving space in the defense. he is the weakness link in the team and this has prompted lartey to do double work and thus struggling in his own lateral defense.

I am not commenting that winning the cup is not important, but the notion behind the youth tournaments is what I am tryint to cut across. If you dounbt, you can find out from FIFA.
"Doubt".By the way were you happy with the way our boys played? If Brazil had won that way , Mr.N woyld have critisized them. Our team is not good.Luck will not always follow us.
You're very right on that, the team doesn't look formidable but I guess it's a tactical issue. Sellas has to watch out.
I do not have a dog in this fight cast your mind back to 2009 at Egypt the country who is under 'Full Military Coup as we write people said the same thing about him some one even said he need a hot line to call Ghana for hel ...

Like that a lot. A win is a win and a lose is a lose indeed. Anybody doubting that should just contact Diego Maradona for a piece of lecture over "The Hand Of God Piper" that knockout England cold during the 1986 world cup.
We can't use what happened in 2009 to compare with what's going on in 2013 as far as coaching in this tournament is concern. The 2009 squad was made of different players than this. This squad has a very weak defense. Therefor ...

Our coach almost cost us this match. Sellas has to sit up. His game plan was the reason for our loss against France, he apologized and we forgive him. Now there are no more spare chances for such apologies.
My lord,I thought you enjoy watching FY33 FY33 soccer(Onyame Buame soccer) Sellas is rusty and our team is not formidable.
I'm just leaving you in the hands of coach Akwasi Appiah, one of the best coaches in the world. Lol
Thanks Slimzay. The problem with some Ghanaians is that once we win they close their eyes to the obvious shortcomings of the team and the coach's tactical weaknesses. Physical strength and athletism won the match for us, not ...
