I really do not understand the point being made by the MP. Since the causes of the market fires are unknown, is it not right and appropriate that the area is secured and protected to preserve any evidence? How does that make Ghanaians foreigners in their own country? The MP does not make any sense, unless he was sending a political message.

Napo is one of the top leaders of the Kuamsi criminal gangs. Most of the killings so far have been perpetrated by Napo's group. Kofi Jumah's gang seems to be less well organised and incompetent. So they usually concentrate on petty robberies and pickpocketing. Napo's men (in boxers' shorts) sometimes embark on daylight robberies, moving from house to house and from moving vehicle to vehicle.
By the way, Napo's nose is something else. No nose in this world can be as ugly!

It is rather unfortunate when the so called elites in our society cannot think outside the box and are still held in their prejudices. Equating the tornado incident in Oklahoma and the fire outbreak in Kumasi market as if they are similar is very disheartening. The Tornado in Oklahoma is called a " natural disaster " or an " act of God " which has no criminal intent attached to it and so does not require any police investigation for the verification of it's cause. No evidence to be tempered with here. The Fire disasters could be seen from the opposite direction where arson is the likelihood and therefore should be a subject of investigation. To label the police preventing people from going to the scene as callousness, insensitivity and discriminatory is misplaced and an attempt to cover up a suspected crime. Napo is even aware that foreign Forensic experts are currently in the country working with their Ghanaian counterpart to determine the causes of what is becoming a national disaster.Maybe Napo has more to tell us why he would like those suspected crime scenes to be altered before the commencement of the investigations.

Police are protecting the investigations so that people do not tamper any forensic investigations to be carried out. If someone bugged into a bank, would he go and hold doors and stuff, or in any fatal gun shooting, will Napo go and hold a gun left behind the scene?

Things should be done the primitive way in Ghana, or in a political party way.
Napo as a doctor, if he is performing a surgery, and the patient pass on, does he allow family members to rush to the theater to grief over their lose? This is Common sense, people of little thinking faculty.

The Hon. MP is demonstrating lack of basic understanding of Police and fire investigating processes. It is standard practice for the police to cordon off areas under investigation so that no one can tamper with the evidence.

In the case of Oklahoma, this is a natural disaster. So the police have nothing to investigate and hence the reason to allow the victims into the place.
This Hon. MP should know better and make this kind of distinction between the 2.

Yet this guy bears the title "Dr" and is a member of parliament!!!
By the way, has he bothered to contribute to the search for those who are behind the fires? So he cares for the market traders after all. Well, everyone has a part to play to bring about peace, tranquillity and create an enabling environment for people (including market traders up and down the country) to go about their business.
If the MP and his other colleagues agree that this should be the case, then they should be working with the police and helping the government to tackle these clearly orchestrated and unpatriotic acts aimed at destabilising the country which is also affecting livelihoods!!!

I'm not sure if the Kumasi Market is not in this MPs constituency. In any case, this MP should have been proactive instead of reactive: he should have contacted the police and fire departments at the outset and coordinated the response with them. Look at this man who is a Dr and a legislator is saying.Dr Prempeh,I don't want to believe you don't know the difference between a tornado which we all know to a natural disaster, and, a fire which may come about as a result of the ff :
1.Negligence
2.Ilegal electricity Connection
3.Congestio
4.Faulty Architectural Design or lack of ventilation.
5.Cooking at the wrong place or Cigarette litter
6. Arsonist etc etc
So,what kind of anolog or Comparison is the Hon Dr Prempeh making from tornado to Fire?. The market authority did the right thing not to allow anyone in as Clear evidence could be tempered with.
Until the place is first inspected by the Police, photographs taken, and materals collected, absolutely no one should be allowed to enter. This is simple common sense, a normal process, and the way forward.
