I'm beginning to dislike this guy for all his nonsense about money.
This is the guy who quoted a very high figure as the amount GBC was losing because of the live coverage of the election petition only to be challenged by one of his predecessors who said what many Ghanaians will believe but instead of keeping his mouth shut he now got up to make another bogus demand.
What kind of program they have that somebody will pay money to watch, something some of us don't want to watch for even free?
If they pay money to his outfit alone for their useless programs what about other stations who seem to be having better programs than they do?
Even if there should be a TV license his organization should not be the one collecting that fee at the moment because they were asked to collect that fee due to the fact that they were the only station at the time that law was enacted but now that we have more stations Ghanaians do not owe GBC a dime.
How can he compare Ghana to South Africa in terms of TV coverage, is he smoking something?
Please, if you cannot run the organization with a better plan then you better resign and leave Ghanaians alone, enough of your money crap.

Paying tv license is a good thing but at the end of the day where does the money goes? You crooks will benefit from it and moreover nothing interesting is shown on our tv screens neither do we have power (electricity) to watch it, so what's the point of paying Achebe? You lied to Ghanaians that telecasting live coverage of the Supreme Court case cost GbC a huge sum of dollars whereby it was not true.I suggest that once we have good and educative programs and regular power to watch tv,listen to radio's, we will pay tv license.Ndc Achebe trying to steal from Ghanaians as woyome did.

GBC cannot depend on TV license fees to improve the qualities of its programs. How do the the rest of the private tv stations survive? Gbc is oveer-staffed; Gbc has too many idlers; Gbc does too much politics; Gbc lacks new ideas; and Gbc must be privatized.
The new Director-General should not think of re-introducing "Yibi Ma" at all. He should meet his producers and think of better ways of creating money within Gbc, and stop suggesting extra burden on poor Ghanaians who are aleady suffering from government-supplies syndrome: no water; no electricity; high petrol and kerosene prices; no jobs; corruption at high livel; and etc. etc.
So many radio and tv stations in Ghana have survived through good programs; through interesting ads; and through better management.

GTV has to be professional and govt should invest much into it, because they utilise it so much that, I wonder they pay a dime. Especially, during campaign time most ads run by incumbents are never paid.

"Honey, can you fix the sink? It's clogged."
The husband is watching TV and replies:
"Who do you think I am, a Plumber?"
So, the husband goes on for the rest of the day without a single word from his wife. Right after dinner he gets asked again: "Honey , can you fix the toilet? It is overflowing."
Now, obviously mad the husband replies : "I told you I am NOT a Plumber and keep watching Television!"
The next day when the husband comes home his wife meets him at the door and starts to lavish him with kisses.
She finally stops and she tells her husband that the most incredible thing happened to her: "Well, this really gorgeous man moved in next door and he fixed everything for me.... Well, there was one of two forms of payment--I could have made mad passionate love to him or I could have made him fufu and Palm soup ."
The husband looks at his wife and asks: "So, what kind of Fufu and palm did you bake him?"

Ten yrs ago in the UK, the only African channel TV you could get to watch was OBE TV. We all loved it despite them showing silly old films and documentaries of Africa, we were clued to it. Their programmes could ran over time without staff bothered about what we were watching.
Later Nollywood came and started showing very romantic Naija movies, I bet almost all black households- Africans and Jamaicans in UK were clued to it. Now Nollywood has to be subscribed and OBE is collapsed, OBE revamped as Clear TV, but a lipstick on a pig is still a pig.
GTV has to be customer centered and show what customers want. Paying for something that worth isn't a problem.
