A public official accepts the position freely.

Moreover, the courts are in the end the ultimate arbiters of who is "fair, balanced and accurate", through lawsuits/torts.

After all, like beauty, "fair, balanced and accurate" is in the eye of the beholder. In the US we have a newwork that claims to be "fair and balanced." But they are anything but.., not accurate, to say the least.

In Ghana, Mr. Mahama himself and the NDC government have not been " fair, balanced and accurate" to the people of Ghana. If they were, they would have passed the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill by this time.

A few months ago the same station was broadcasting bui dam and mammy water or some marine animal/spirit or whatever. That also turned out to be false. What is the NMC doing about such things.
The story about formaldehyde could destroy a whole industry not to speak of people's lives and families. This is not the time for backhand slapping. It is a time for some irresponsible journalists and managers to spend some time behind bars to serve as a deterrent. It should also serve as an encouragement to media managers to hire qualified people.

At the time the NDC subjected Nana Addo to the same indecent accusations and political mudslinging you were the vice president and your voice carried weight within the NDC. You could have stopped those NDC criminals from subjecting Nana to that sort of ridicule. But you did not, and looked on because you enjoyed it.
