This has been the trend of late when someone is freshly appointed to a position in the country. Additionally, the experience is also added to the qualification.
Mr Ernest Thompson can acquire all these qualifications, having made so much as the Board Secretary for Accra Hearts of Oak for several years. What can someone inclined to academics do when the person has financial resources available to him?
We cheerish academic qualifications so much in this country so much that every parent should endeavour to give adequate education to their children if they have the means. This is also the reason wards of politicians who have stolen from the state, will come back to us one day to want to lead the country. They are fortunate to have parents who have been able to amass wealth out of the state, to finance the education of their children.
Those of us from poor homes will remain silent and refuse to talk. We are only hurting ourselves by taking this position. Our children will follow our path of poverty and it will take the Grace Of God to take the family out of poverty.
It is time for every Ghanaian to complain and speak out against corruption and other social vices.
Anyway, I dont habour any grudge against Ernest but to wish him the best in his new position.

Is Mr. Ernest Thompson qualified for the new position? The fact that somebody comes from a poor home shouldn't qualify that person to be given such a complicated office to manage.

For me, I understand Kwame`s concern about the further deepening of stratification in our society . Mr. Thompson has been around long enough, and may have the the experiencial edge over several others, but believe me I have personal knowledge of cases where a new bright graduate in the sciences, who was kept on for some time by the falculty as a Teaching Assistant, was gloosed over in a final selection process for an entry position in one of our state agencies,in favour of an average student who got the job, largely due to his family background and connection! This young lad has reluctantly greed to go back the the university to do futher graduate work, but was overly worried about having to go through a similar dissapointment after yet another year`s study at the universty!

Congratulations Mr Ernest Thompson for an exceptional career. We were friends in Legon, though you were ahead of us by two years. I know you will continue to do great service for SNNIT.
