But I bet these traders will politicize the issue and make it a case of an NDC attempt to make life miserable for them. Afterwards, they will go to Akuffo Addo to cite their concerns, as if, he is the spokesperson for their issues. Its difficult to govern ungovernable people, brainwashed by the rhetoric of political promises by opposition parties. I can only imagine what the headlines will read if the fire marshals had allowed them back into the fire and lives were lost. Look at how our Leaders have systematically abandoned Hydro Power for the most expensive Thermal Generation to date just to be able to take Kick-Backs from thermal plants imported and its weekly fuel imports to push high electric bills on the throat of Ghanaians.
Akosombo power and Kpong power still remains our most sensible AND cheapest source of power generation.

If the markets are being run by private persons, they should find a way of levying the shop owners so they can pay security personnel to give a 24 hour watch over the markets. A strict opening and closing times should be put in place to ensure unauthorized people don't go there when the market is closed. the use of the shops for sleeping purposes must be stopped to avoid the fires from candles, etc. Educate market women to turn off all electrical appliances or gadgets not in use before going home. Ensure a continuous patrol in and around the market overnight to ward off intruders.

The Government should consider smoke alarms, fire prevention training for households and businesses, fire extinguishers, CCTV, sprinklers, inspection of equipment, safer storage facilities for generator fuel and scientific reports on the causes of the fires.
