Money was spent on the verification part of voting which we see had its own failures -- money could have been used on national ID which makes it easier for everyone to be identified by one criterion.

A national ID has wider use and also minimizes some of qualification discrepancies we saw -- age, nationality etc.

Also why spend so much on the verification when there are so many gaps in the paper work and backend of the system, which sort of defeats the purpose of people spending their time to line up to vote when numbers could be manipulated during the administration/paperwork.

Policy/standards were not applied globally considering importance of elections – both signed and unsigned document were accepted; as well as being folks allowed to vote even though they were not on the face only verification list but rather due to failure of the biometric system.

My gut feelings is nothing is going to change as far as the election results, however, the court process is going to expose the gaps in the election process, and hopefully the EC would be forced to remedy the gaps to prevent/minimize future election challenges. Training issues etc. being cited out there are no excuse; if we are going to spend money on elections then we should have at least one person in each polling station who understands the policy and is the enforcer. Otherwise then the whole process becomes a joke and a waste of time.

You must be lost like Bawumia, cos you cant tell me that one person out of a group of ten people each with the same copy of a letter can forge another copy of the letter and claim his is the original out of ten?? so no, some one cannot "come up with a different pink sheet from what was signed at the polling stations" cos all reps of parties will have a copy of the original that can be used to compare against any other version and one another. a person can even forge a pink sheet and claim its from a certain polling station but will have a hard time convincing anyone that his is original and not a fake compared to the others who have the same copy!!!

Brian, what is disgraceful is your understanding of issues, corrupt is your understanding of what is being said in the courts, what smells is your education or lack of it. spare Ghana your ignorance.

If the NPP General Secretary, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie knew of the painful frustration that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the first petitioner in the on-going Supreme Court (SC) challenge of the 2012 Presidential Election results went through and how he reacted in court on Wednesday May 29, he will never have waved his blue handkerchief when the case was adjourned.

The frustration was so glaring and huge that Akufo-Addo could not contain himself, so he sprang on his feet and verbally attacked his lawyers in court. Nana Akufo-Addo was seen venting his spleen especially on Mr Philip Addison for failing to stop Mr James Quarshie-Idun, the lead counsel of the Electoral Commission (EC) from asking certain questions during his cross-examination of Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, NDC's General Secretary.

Nana Akufo-Addo angrily blurted out, 'Why are you allowing them to take a second bite at the cherry without protesting.' He threw his arms in the air and told them that they were allowing the respondents to have a field day.

The incident happened when the justices of the SC went on a short recess to deliberate on the objection raised by Philip Addison on the line of questioning by Mr Quarshie-Idun during his cross-examination of Asiedu Nketia, who is popularly known as General Mosquito.

Nana Akufo-Addo could not understand why Philip Addison did not raise series of objections to the questions which he Akufo-Addo considered as re-examination by the EC counsel. He told them that it was plain wrong and unacceptable for them not to have raised objections to several of the questions posed by Mr Quarshie-Idun.

The twice defeated flagbearer of the NPP told his lawyers that he was very much disappointed in them for allowing General Mosquito to rehash his answers in order to repair the damage to some of the questions posed to him by Philip Addison.

Nana Akufo-Addo insulted his lawyers for doing a lousy job and his words were captured by several people around. This behaviour by Nana Akufo-Addo clearly demonstrates his feelings as he has witnessed his weak case and the way it has been torn apart by respondents.

If Akufo-Addo is angry with the way the case was going and could therefore question the competence of his own lawyers whilst openly berating them in court, it seems amazing to see Kwadwo Afriyie also known as Sir John waving his handkerchief in front of the court premises when the case was adjourned.

This is a clear example of a confused Sir John who does not even know what is happening around him let alone know the dynamics of the case before the SC. He has made it his habit of throwing a party any time he feels that the case is going the way of the NPP.

Otherwise how can Nana Akufo-Addo be angry with his lawyers and berate them for doing a poor job in court and less than 30 minutes later see Sir John jubilating that the case is going good for the NPP?

Remember also that Biometric machines by virtue of being electronic IT equipment will have manufacturers serial numbers just like your phone or radio or tv, so they are traceable. why should EC duplicate by putting another serial number on them??????they are already traceable by the manufacturers serial number?? Serial numbers on stamps????? when you have been told that each has unique details, so why serial numbers?????? they are easily identifiable because they have unique details????????????

Rules are rules so if the petitioners came to you as the chairman with irregularities and they did provide about 8 pink sheets as evidence. All the petitioners requested was for you to gather the accurate data before declaring the results and this stupid guy as usual said no. We all know how things work in Ghana. Corruption right at the top of institutions and in this case the EC. Afari, you could have been wise enough to exercise the power invested in you to gather all the executives and compare the results to even see if it was the same at each end. NDC had some polling station names that were not on the EC's lists and this was added to the national votes; how do you explain yourself to that? You wait for cross-examination. Everybody does well with their own lawyer. You are a disgrace, incompetent, corrupt, arrogant, power drank and senseless. You deserve jail time. You cannot just act irresponsible with the trust Ghanaians had instilled in you. Useless arrogant man.

This nonsense of voting arbitration is the incompetency of Afari Djan. Having been Electoral Commissioner (EC) for more than 10 years, and with his so called experience gathered during all these years, most loopholes could have been sealed and up to date or sound voting system would have been laid down long time ago for the next EC to build on it.

However, Afari Djan have his own agenda which he diabolically hatched and the result producing upheaval in the country. An aged person of his caliber should have visioned what the consequence would be to the entire country should vote rigging occurred. But at last when NPP reported various voting malpractices - Afari Djan did not think of the consequence but said "You can to go the Court to redress your grievances" This is not a trusted person who have the country at heart. He knew what he was doing and thought NPP would not proceed to the court as he pointed out to them.

Shame on you Afari Djan and may God give us a person who loves and have Ghana at heart to be our future EC who will supervise elections with clear and conscience mind.

Nana, Bawamia and Obesheibi lamptey are making a fool of themselves. This is a nonsense case. Thgey should go home and hand over the party leadership to new blood. Brobbey is the wise leader who should be the new NPP leader.
