Hi Paul,
You have made my day. Its been a long time reading an interesting and brain-stimulating article such as this. I wish this article could be made visible in a wider space beyond this site. Lecturers, developement practitioners, policy makers, students etc. need to read this. Nobody can develop Africa for Africans than the Africans themselves. They can be only sympathisers. My share with me your future articles. God bless you.

the pressing immediate problems confronting the countRY GHANA ARE - no electricity, no water, rife in corruption, high incompetence levels, etc.
At the moment JOHN MAHAMA has NOT articulated any vision for the country and his governance. Ghanaians don't know what he stands for except his mere promises and lies.
For sustainable socio-economic development Ghana needs ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE not mere promises without action as characterised BY MAHAMA'S "leadership".
stimulate the economy through the bond-buying program and encourge more ppl to invest in the GSX
Argentina’s president has announced increases of as much as 35 percent in cash handouts to the poor, students, pregnant women and retirees.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said the programs also will reach nearly 700,000 more children, expanding the social safety net and encouraging consumer spending this election year. She said the total cost of the subsidies would grow $7.8 billion a year.
GH MUST FIND A SOLUTION TO THESE PRESSING ISSUES: high level corruption, CITIZEN IDENTIFICATION, insecurity, unemployment, LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE and infrastructure decay as the major problems confronting africa's development.
GO TO MAHAMA BANK IN USA,HE HAS 170MILLIONS DOLLAS IN HIS ACCOUNT. HE ALSO USED GHMONEY TO BUY JET.

Firstly, stop the foreign 'investors' from using your own money to invest and siphoning off the profits tax free back to their havens. Secondly, Stop the same moving Natural resources freely without payment or duty to their own countries and calling themselves No1 producers of whatever. Thirdly, Stop succumbing to and being in the payroll of businesses and their profits for the betterment of the whole country. In 2013 Ghana's Electricity reliability is worse than in the 1950's, all because a Generator producing business wants to make their money and have a few key people on their payroll. All well and good having the ideas if it won't be applied by the people because "our culture" forbids us from questioning authority. We could be very self sufficient but for a few people and thee majority who won't say Boo.

But for the political victimization and vindictiveness the private sector in Africa stands a better chance of growing. Therefore, Africapitalism will only survive if it also addresses the phenomena mentioned above.

Places like Ghana and Nigeria have so many folks living abroad in places like the US and Britain, for example, that if such masses really cared about from whince they came Africa would rise economically from their unification abroad. But Africans outside of Africa are stuck on tribalism, corruption fears, low self-esteem regarding Africa and too much focus on immediate family not the masses whom need help. Africans, once removed from Africa, fail to be Africa-centered.
Africans are known worldwide for being cheapsakes, penny-pinchers and closed-minded too.
