Omari Wadie has done no wrong – Effah Dartey

Nkrabea Effah Dartey, lawyer for Michael Omari Wadie who was arrested for circulating doctored nude, sexy pictures of President Mahama has said he is convinced that the case involving his client, will go “nowhere” because his client is "absolutely" innocent.

His comments came during an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story. He said after reviewing the case, “there was not much substance”.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) arrested Omari Wadie a former constituency chairman of the main opposition New Patriotic Party on Monday.

He was released today after 3pm.

But, according to his lawyer, “the game is not over, the drama is being played out” but ultimately it would be full of “coming and going” nowhere. His client was “absolutely” innocent, he emphasized.

He said he would be surprised if charges such as defamation and public immorality would be successful in the absence of “empirical evidence” that his client “was personally responsible” for the post.

In the social media landscape it will be “very difficult to pin it on him”, lawyer Effah Dartey assessed. Although his client has a written statement, it was not conclusive that his client will be charged, he said.

Nonetheless, lawyer Effah Dartey said the doctored sex picture was “detestable”.
