Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise. “ Thomas Gray
Ignorance is bliss but in a country and a continent like ours where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise. That is the dilemma Kwame Nkrumah found himself back then. Kwame Nkrumah championed the idea of African Unity. He was in the galaxies on the Milky Way, unfortunately his African earthlings peers could not catch up with his galactic and protagonist ideas. Vanguard Nkrumah in his quest was pushing the new African frontier for unification of Africa but those following him did not understand where he was coming from. Now I think some of us do.
Nonetheless, his immaculate blueprints are still there waiting to be implemented. Africa Awake! Africa Unite for there is strength in a union. We can only become a force to be reckoned with when we are united. No other powers can push us around. We will decide our own destiny for the betterment of our folks.
Guess what! Only the Congo basin can feed half of the world. Could anyone imagine the immense revenue it will bring to Africa? Can anyone imagine that the plateau regions of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, can power half of the world with clean hydroelectric power? 86 percent of coltan without which no computer in the world can run is found in Africa. Gold; Diamonds; Uranium; Copper, Bauxite, oil, coal etc and it doesn’t there. Wildlife, landscapes and natural beauty of the earth are all found here. Beneath the Sahara sand dunes are vast reservoir of fresh water lakes which can supply the world in the quest for acute fresh water enough water in future. Don’t even mention the enormous potential of solar power on the Sahara. Everything speaks for Africa. We must embark from talk shops to doers. It seems to me we are not taking the task or mandate from our peoples seriously enough.
Africans must wake up from our slumber. Enough of sleeping now it is time to pull up our sleeves to work for our own happiness. Work and happiness that all our fellow whites are doing. They work, save money and go on holidays to enjoy themselves. This is no miracle or rocket science, we can also do it. YES WE CAN! By now peoples of African descent should be able to travel freely from one country to another. Remove all visa fees for all Africans. The golden jubilee anniversary is the beginning of a new era. Let us take bold steps to make things happen. Otherwise, we have only come a full circle 50 years on.
Sadly as it is, we have abandoned the grand ideas of Kwame Nkrumah, For now though, we [AU] are still going in circles whereas the road map has been laid down by the mastermind Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. That genial plan is still relevant today. So what are we waiting for? What is hindering us from putting Kwame Nkrumah’s practical ideas and ideals into work?
I for one, will also dare ask that there have to be a study on the works of Kwame Nkrumah in all Ghanaian/African schools. Nkrumah’s message is full of enlightenment and his self-fulfilling prophesy has come to past. Any further questions?
Nkrumah never dies! Long live mother Africa. AFRICA MUST UNITE:

The way the NDC lawyers are behaving l am beginning to fear for the Mahama presidency. Having followed the case in court so far, l see the NDC lawyers looking for a Technicality to throw away the case than the substance of the case. The NDC lawyers want to depend on the number of pink sheets sumbitted to court as exhibits rather than contesting the claims the NPP is making out of the pink sheets. Tsatsu for instance wanted to bring in Asokwa pink sheet to make claims that the NPP was selective in the claims they are making. I am beginning to think that the claims NPP are making are true, that is over voting, unsigned pink sheets and unknown pooling stations. I expect Tsatsu the NDC lead counsel to argue that there were no over voting, there were no unsigned pink sheets and there were no unkown pooling stations and if there were it is not to the magnitue that could affect the results of the elections. but Tsastu seem to have accepted the irregularities and trying to argue that some also occured in the strong hold of the NPP which they the petitioners did not include in the analysis. I am feeling very uneasy for the Mahama presidency.

IS TO UNDERSTAND IT'S FOUNDING FATHER
DR NKRUMAH,THE LEADER OF PAN-AFRCANISM
OUR ECONOMIC SUBSERVIENCE AS A CONTINENT AND OWNERSHIP BY WHICH THE WORLD MONOPOLY GROUPS ASSURE THE ON-GOING EXPLOITATION OF OUR AFRICAN RESOURCES,PRE OCCUPIED YOUNG NKRUMAH'S THOUGHTS TILL HIS OVERTHROW BY THE CIA.
AFRICA'S EARTH REMAINS RICH,YET AS KWAME SAW IT..."THE PRODUCTS THAT COME FROM ABOVE AND BELOW HER SOIL CONTINUE(To this day)TO ENRICH,NOT AFRICANS PREDOMINANTLY,BUT GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO OPERATE TO AFRICA'S IMPOVERISHMENT."
KWAME BELIEVED THAT WE HAD A COMMON DESTINY TO FORGE A UNION TO TRANSFORM
OUR CONTINENT.THROUGH HIS OWN LIPS,THE OAU WAS BORN!!
TO GO IT ALONE NKRUMAH FELT OUR ECONOMIC FREEDOM STANDS OPEN TO DANGER JUST AS LONG AS WE REMAINED APART.
FIFTY YEARS LATER,WHO AMONG US CAN STILL PICK UP THIS VISION?
WHO AMONG US CAN SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE? WHICH OF OUR LEADERS CAN FORGE "NON-INTERFERENCE IN EACH OTHER'S STATES" TOWARS THE PRICIPLES OF THE AU?
WHY ARE WE SO PRE-OCCUPIED WITH OUR "LITTLE TINY POSTAGE -STAMP COUNTRIES,AND YET SO ENAMELLED BY THE:
UNITED STATES
UNITED KINGDOM
UNITED JAPAN
UNITED CANADA
UNITED GERMANY
UNITED CHINA
COULD THIS BE THE REASON WHY ALL THE "THIRD WORLD COUNTRIED" ARE NON-WHITE?
WE ARE SO FAR BEHIND AS A RACE WE NEED TO RUN TO CATCH UP....
SO MY FELLOW AFRICANS YOU GO ON INSULTING YOUR FELLOW AFRICANS ON GHANA-WEB,IT WILL SURELY CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS OUR UNTY.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AU-OAU

....we guess that is why he'd like us to believe that "silent corruption" is the issue.
You've got to put it in the context of the suffering masses!
We've read and seen this before!
For Ghana, the unstated central theme here is a "Wing-It" governments on track to making things a lot worse, that is, unless immediate attention is drawn to the core issues of corruption, mis-management, lack of planning, lack of access to public information in the hands of officials.
Yes, the other day Mr. Mahama wasted much of our time with his pointless "Silent Corruption" concept.
Yes, Ghanaians continue to suffer from the "core issues of corruption, mis-management, lack of planning, and lack of access to public information in the hands of (government) officials."
But the idea that this essay is Mr. Mahama's, is a bit encouraging, we must admit!!!!

Well, corruption is and has been in existence since time immemorial as former prez Kuffuor will let us to believe. If former presidents Kuffour and Rawlings had tackled it, the way this current prez is going about it, I bet you that Ghana would have been somewhere else in terms of development. Rather, these former presidents pilled, stripped the Nation naked and have the guts to be talking today about corruption. Tell me why a concerned president of a nation must be involved in deals, kick backs, acquisitions, malls, hotels, vodafones etc.? That is why, I have always trusted Late President Mills as an honorable man! I do think we are on the same research agenda. Just that we might be approaching the issue from different angles. I am an author of access to information perspectives and have done articles on foi comparing Jamaica and Ghana. I want us to fight corruption and that must begin with the passage of an FOI bill into law by parliament. I totally agree with you on FOI issues and we can pressurize and mount pressure to be felt for this bill to be passed.
The fact is we need to be color blind; We, I am independent of any political persuasion. I want the right thing done. Kofi Annan could not have stated it better than saying the amount of money lost to corruption is woefully colossal to the pockets of a few individuals.
So let's pressurize these guys together!

AFRICA/GH'S ECONOMIC GROWTH
how Africa’s economic growth could be sustained for the continual benefit of its most vulnerable people?
I THINK IT WILL BE BEST TO LOOK AT THE EUROPEAN MODEL.
THE NEED TO PROVIDE GREATER MOBILITY TO WEST AFRICAN CITIZENS BETWEEN NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES WILL BE PARAMOUNT.
HOWEVER, THESE NATIONS MUST MAINTAIN THEIR RESPECTIVE CURRENCIES. THE EURO MODEL SHOWED US THE VARIOUS PITFALLS THAT COME WITH THIS.
WAT DO YOU DO WITH NEIGHBOURING NATIONS WHO DONT PULL THEIR WEIGHT? SURE, YOU CAN PROVIDE THE NECESSARY BAILOUTS AND HELP, BUT YOU CANT FORCE A HORSE TO DRINK.
He cited employment for the rapidly growing young population: THE NATION MUST PUT MONEY INTO YOUTH EMPLOYMENT STRATEGIES. OTHER NATIONS HAVE DONE IT, AND CONTINUE TO.
affordable health care: NHIS IS A GOOD START, BUT IS IT WORKING? HOW STRONG AND CREDIBLE IS IT? DO THE NATIVES HAVE ACCESS TO HOSIPITALS, CLINICS AND TREATMENT CTRS? BUILD MORE HOSPITALS.
CHILDREN AND WOMENS HOSPITALS.
quality education for all: FREE BASIC EDUCATION FOR ALL GH KIDDIES. THIS IS A MUST.
and gender and class equality as some of the critical pillars: APPOINT WOMEN IN POSITIONS OF POWER,THE MEDIA. I WOULD FOCUS MORE ON ECONOMIC EQUALITY, NOT CLASS....
ECONOMIC EQUALITY: A GSX/BUSINESS TV AND RADIO CHANNEL DEDICATED TO EVERYTHING FINANCE, INVESTING, BUSINESS NEWS, TOPICS, DISCUSSIONS. THIS WILL EDUCATE THE MASSES ON WEALTH BUILDING IDEAS,
BUSINESS IDEAS, INVESTING IDEAS ETC.
the pressing immediate problems confronting the countRY GHANA ARE - GALAMSAY EVERYWHERE, no electricity, no water, rife in corruption, high incompetence levels, etc.
At the moment JOHN MAHAMA has NOT articulated any vision for the country and his governance. Ghanaians don't know what he stands for except his mere promises and lies.
For sustainable socio-economic development Ghana needs ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE not mere promises without action as characterised BY MAHAMA'S "leadership".
Argentina’s president has announced increases of as much as 35 percent in cash handouts to the poor, students, pregnant women and retirees.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said the programs also will reach nearly 700,000 more children, expanding the social safety net and encouraging consumer spending this election year. She said the total cost of the subsidies would grow $7.8 billion a year.
GH MUST FIND A SOLUTION TO THESE PRESSING ISSUES: high level corruption, CITIZEN IDENTIFICATION, insecurity, unemployment, LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE and infrastructure decay as the major problems confronting africa's development.
GO TO MAHAMA BANK IN USA,HE HAS 170MILLIONS DOLLAS IN HIS ACCOUNT. HE ALSO USED GHMONEY TO BUY JET.

Also if VISION is that important as he emaphasised here why is it that more than 10 months that he has been in power in Ghana, hev cannot articulate any vision to Ghana (can anyone tell me Mahama's vision for Ghana?)
He made mentison of accountability in hie article thus ". And, not surprisingly, the despots and coup-makers who were looting their country's coffers balked at the idea of accountability.". Although he is not a coup plotter yest he is more corrupt and unaccountable like the despots and coup pltters he is talking about. What fraudulent deals and and corrupt practices wasn't he involved as a vice president and his various position.
His article has no policy statements or any firward looking intentions except to regurgitate history.
Ghanaians should be ashamed to elect this egomaniac medicre thinking person as a leader.
