This country with. And can you blame this 'mercernary' who chooses to take his vacation in New York in winter! Anybody remember what ex-heavyweight boxer, Leon Spinks, did when he first won the the title? He went out and bought himself a used Rolls Royce, and proceeded to drive in the wrong direction on a one-way street; and this is precisely what this semi-literate Kweku Baako has done to us with the largesse ("Awuuf money")he accumulated during the 8 years of Kuffour administration! Now he thinks he is fit and qualified to lambast this country`s highest court. And who does he have hidding behind the scenes feeding him with all rubbish we have been hearing from him? The so-called 'legal luminaries' in this country, many of whom have questionable professional and moral characters themselves!

We all live to see if Tsikata's convoluted, unintelligible and quixotic cross-examination will make any sense at the end of the day. If I, as a normal average human being, cant make any sense out of it, I dont think that those sitting there as judges will either - by the looks on their faces. My six-year old daughter knows that it is unacceptable and offensive to say "shut up" to another person in public. However our 'learned Judges' do not seem to know this. How come?
As a friend of mine says, and as far as I am concerned, this case is a matter of, thief, thief, thief - God laughs and so who am I to take sides. In all honesty, I really dont give a damn who wins or loses the case. The two parties in that court room have done more harm than good to this country over the years. Our so-called law is like tossing a coin, anyway. Only the judges who have arrogated themselves to the posture of high-priests and dictators, know what they are doing.
Then again, if this legal system that is supposed to be for all of us doesnt make sense to most of us, then clearly is not a good, fair, useful or a democratic law. It is an overly partisan law which has been drafted to partially favor legal technocrats, the rich and the powerful in society. We should all know how much the entire process is going to cost the state and the parties concerned.
The mass of the voting and tax paying public do not even as much as know how to access 'our' law to address their concerns. Come on lets face it, is this helpful to our development process?
Knowledge and legal equity, for your information, is meant to be used as a collateral benefit for mankind and not as a tool to be used to dominate, befuddle and oppress others.
Kwaku Baako therefore has the right to comment - as do all others, on any court case in this country.

I think it is wholly inappropriate for people who are not properly familiar with the law or constitutional law to make such crass and stupid statements!!!
Just because people have access to the media does not mean they can just make silly statements because a ruling does not appear to favour them. It is noteworthy that this ruling of the SC favours no particular side and rather than being "timid", the SC justices want to set a precedent and in my view have applied common sense but within the provisions of the law.
By the way, as we all know, the sittings have so far been Mondays to Thursdays, not included Fridays and the weekends. Is there anything out of the ordinary about this? And this arrangement was even before the ruling so what has changed? It is the status quo ante as far as we can all see so why doesn't Kweku Baako simply shut up and let us follow proceedings!!

IN SPITE OF KWEKU BAAKO'S LEANING AND/OR SUBTLE SUPPORT FOR ASHANTI-AKYEM TRIBAL PARTY, NPP, I HAVE ALWAYS ADMIRED HIM AS AN ESTEEMED JOURNALIST.
AS AN INTELLEGENT JOURNALIST I EXPECTED KWEKU BAAKO TO BE ABLE TO DELINIATE THE CONTEXTUAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CRITICISM AND CRITIQUE WHEN APPLYING THE USE OF THESE WORDS.
I WOULD LIKE TO ESTABLISH THE STRICKING DIFFERENCES OF THE WORDS AND WHEN TO USE THEM.
THE WORD CRITICISM DENOTES OUTRIGHT CONDEMNATION, WHILE ON THE OTHER HAND CRITIQUE DENOTES POSITIVE REACTION, AND CALLS FOR CONSTRUCTIVE DEBATE.
WHERE I STAND WITH THIS ARTICLE MAY BE SEEN TO BE CRITICISM OF KWEKU BAAKO, DEPENDING BY AND LARGE ON WHERE THE PENDULUM SWINGS.
WHAT I INTEND DOING HERE IS TO DEBATE THE ISSUE OF THE USE OF WORDS IN CONTEXT AND TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERY ISSUE OF DIFFERENCES IS CRITICISM.
READING MOST ARTICLES ON GHANAWEB I GET THE SENSE THAT GHANAIANS, UNLIKE NIGERIANS, ARE NOT GOOD WRITERS, SIMPLY BECAUSE GHANAIANS LACK READING AND BARELY USE THE LIBRARY, AND SO ARE MOST OF OUR JOURNALISTS.
PICK UP A NIGERIAN OR SOUTH AFRICAN NEWPAPER OR MAGAZINE, AND YOU WILL SEE THE MARKED DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF THE BEAUTY OF THE USE OF WORDS AND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
IN CONCLUSION I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT CRITICISM IS NEGATIVE AND CRITIQUE IS POSITIVE, AND MUCH DEPENDS ON THE CONTEXT USED.
